FLOSSMOOR, IL - The Homewood-Flossmoor Vikings received impressive offensive performances from Senior Zaid Walker and Junior Jacob Schroeder, en route to a 8-0 victory over the Simeon Wolverines Tuesday afternoon.

Walker, a Michigan State commit, got the party started early driving in two Vikings in the first frame on a towering shot that hit the top of the centerfield wall. Coming around to score was leadoff hitter and starting pitcher Kyle Salley (Duke commit) and DH Tre Hondras. Walker later scored on an RBI groundout by catcher Jacob Schroeder.

Schroeder picked up two more RBI in the 3rd inning courtesy of a two-run blast over the left/center wall scoring Walker. The 3/4 middle of the order duo drove in five combined runs for the Vikings on the day. Walker finished 1-for-3 with a double, two runs scored, two RBI, one walk and a stolen base. Schroeder went 1-for-2 with a homerun, one run scored, three RBI and one walk.

Homewood-Flossmoor picked up three more runs in the 6th inning off of defensive miscues and a pair of wild pitches from the Wolverines.

Salley, Caleb Izenbart (Augustana College commit) and Ryan Cox (Ripon College commit) combined for the seven hit shutout for the Vikings. Salley went five strong innings utilizing his high-80’s fastball to power past the Simeon lineup. The lefty Duke commit gained the win finishing with a line of: 5 IP, 6 H, 0 R, 6 K, 2 BB.

Darrius Little picked up three base knocks on the day out of the leadoff spot for Simeon. Teammates Jalen Lemons and Christian Carr both collected two hits apiece. Carr took the loss on the mound for the Wolverines going five innings, allowing four earned runs, three walks, five hits and striking out four.
