This week’s PBR Player of the Week was senior outfielder Dylan Burris (Edwardsville). On the week, Burris went 7-for-9 with two triples, two doubles, five runs scored, five RBI and a walk. In the process, Burris broke the Edwardsville season single record for triples, which was previously set at six. Burris currently has eight triples on the year with almost half the season left to be played. Click Here to read about Burris’ early season success.

Every week we will note the players that just missed out on the award with our Weekly Diamond notes. Let’s take a look at some of the players around the state who had a big week last week:

WEEK 5 PERFORMANCES

Adam Jayko, 3B, Johnsburg, 2018
In five games last week he went 12-for-17 (.705 batting average) with five doubles, seven RBI, eight runs scored and three walks. On the season, Jayko is hitting .476 with 12 doubles, 22 runs scored in 19 games.

Matt McCormick, C, St. Laurence, 2019
West Virginia commit. In six games last week he went 8-for-19 (.421 batting average), with two homeruns, a double and 14 runs batted in. On Monday, McCormick had a game-winning two-run single in the bottom of the seventh. On Wednesday he hit a grand slam and had five RBI on the day.

Clay Milas, OF/RHP, Burlington Central, 2017
Elgin CC commit. Had a big week at the plate and on the mound. Left-handed hitter went 10-for-18, with two doubles, two triples, a home run, eight RBI, nine runs scored and was 6-for-6 in stolen bases. On the mound, right-handed pitcher, went 1-0, six innings, six hits and two gave up two earned runs.

Josh Noeska, OF/RHP, Burlington Central, 2017
Elgin CC commit. Got the win on the mound against Hampshire. Went six innings, two hits, no earned runs, struck out eight and no walks. At the plate, went 10-for-17 with three doubles, one triple, four RBI and eight runs scored in four games.

Logan Peterson, RHP/INF, Morton, 2018
Peterson led the way on the mound and at the plate, last Wednesday, in an 8-4 win over Pekin. Peterson got the win on the mound, going 5.2 innings, allowing one earned run, striking out three and walking three. At the plate, Peterson went 3-for-4, with a home run, three RBI and a run scored.

Dan Reynolds, 1B, Evergreen Park, 2018
On the week, went 8-for-11 (.727 batting average) with five doubles, seven RBI, nine runs scored, four walks and was perfect in the field.

Donivan Williams, SS, Richards, 2017
Illinois State commit. In four games last week, Williams went 8-for-12 (.667 batting average) with a homerun, a double, six runs scored, six RBI, three walks and no strikeouts. He is now hitting .515 on the year.
