Ohio's roster is loaded for Midwest Future Games



A look at the representatives from Ohio, which includes three standouts from Missouri:

Drew Atrip, Grove City HS, RHP/1B
The 6-foot-4, 200-pound Atrip is a tall, lanky two-way prospect who features a mid-80s fastball. As a sophomore, he helped lead his team to Ohio's Division I semifinal game.

Tyler Pagano, Pickerington North HS, RHP/1B
The 6-foot-2, 185-pound Pagano is one of the top Class of 2013 arms in Ohio. The two-year varsity standout features a mid-to-high-80s fastball with a sharp 12/6 curveball and a changeup.

Tom Coon, Dublin Jerome HS, RHP/INF
Coon is a physical 6-foot, 215-pound power-hitting corner infielder with power to all fields.

Daniel Rowbottom, St. Ignatius HS, INF/OF
As a sophomore, the 6-foot, 180-pound Rowbottom played infield for Cleveland St. Ignatius, one of Ohio's most successful and storied baseball programs. The talented left-handed hitting prospect is regarded as one of the top 2013 prospects in Northeast Ohio.

Kyle Lento, Dublin Jerome HS, MIF/C
Lento is a compact, versatile prospect with the ability to play middle infield and catcher.

Connor Holdren, Hilliard Darby HS, RHP/INF
The 6-foot, 185-pound Holdren is a two-year varsity starter with the ability to play multiple infield positions. He is a line-drive hitter with the potential to develop power as he continues to mature.

Chris Ramsey, Hilliard Darby HS, LHP/OF
A prototypical leadoff hitter, the 5-foot-10, 165-pound Ramsey is an athletic left-handed hitting centerfielder who hits to all fields.

Jason Johnson, Dublin Jerome HS, RHP
As one of the most promising right-handers in the Class of 2013, the 6-foot-3, 220-pound Johnson is a two-year varsity standout who works in the mid-80s with a slider from a three-quarter arm slot.

Isaac Perry, Norwalk HS, RHP/INF
As a sophomore, the 6-foot, 170-pound Perry was one of the leading hitters in Northwest Ohio. The talented two-way prospect is one to follow as he continues to physically develop.

James Thomas, Newark Catholic HS, MIF
The 5-foot-9, 155-pound Thomas is a slick-fielding middle infielder. For the past two years, he has anchored Newark Catholic's infield as they have advanced to Ohio's Division IV state finals.

Cal Johnson, Anthony Wayne HS, OF
Johnson is a 5-foot-8, 180-pound left-handed hitting outfielder.

Derrick Stephenson, Midview HS, RHP/INF
Stephenson is a 5-foot-11, 170-pound two-way talent.

*  Joe Schrimpf, CBC HS, UTIL
At 5-foot-10, 185-pounds, Schrimpf is a versatile and athletic player who flashes potential at every position. Behind the plate, the No. 7 ranked Class of 2013 player in Missouri has a 1.9-2.0 pop time. Capable of running a 7.09 60, Schrimpf possesses both the speed, range and arm to be middle infielder or corner outfielder. At the plate, Schrimpf is a line drive hitter with power potential, and has a knack for barreling up the baseball. Although he's headed to the Future Games as a member of Missouri, Schrimpf will be suiting up for the Ohio squad.

* Jansen Smith, Rock Bridge HS, 2B/OF
At 5-foot-9, 175-pounds, Smith?s game is bigger than his size suggests. As the starting second baseman for powerhouse Rock Bridge, the No. 15 Class of 2013 player in Missouri had a strong breakout season, hitting .452 with 3 home runs and 17 RBI. Although primarily a second baseman, Smith also possesses the speed, athleticism and arm to play the outfield. At the plate, the left-handed hitter shows good power for his size, as the ball jumps off his bat. Although he's headed to the Future Games as a member for Missouri, Smith will be suiting up for the Ohio squad.

* Drew Bridges, Carthage HS, RHP/1B
The 6-foot-3, 195-pound two-way talent has been a starter since his freshman year. Bridges possesses a powerful left-handed swing; as a sophomore, he batted .390 with 7 homers and 37 RBI. On the mound, the right-hander features a mid-80s fastball that has climbed as high as 88. Although he's headed to the Future Games as a member for Missouri, Smith will be suiting up for the Ohio squad.
