OUTLOOK

The Andrean 59ers head into the 2015 season as the defending 3A State Champions.  The 59ers downed Gibson Southern 6-0 in last June's state final at Victory Field in Indianapolis.  Head Coach Dave Pishkur's 2015 squad returns six position starters but no pitchers off last year's 31-4 team.  Pishkur will rely heavily on senior SS and Notre Dame recruit Nick Podkul this season.  Podkul, a three year starter, hit .411 with 39 Runs, 30 RBI, 8 2B and 19 SB last season.  Podkul's defensive counterpart, 2B Chase Dawson, returns for his final year at Andrean.  Dawson hit .396 with 42 Runs, 29 RBI, 8 2B and 19 stolen bases as a Junior.  Other seniors expected to contribute are OF Parker Huttel (.452 BA, 25 RBI, 10 SB), DH Alex Vode (.346 BA, 21 RBI) and 1B Joe Rodish (.667 BA in limited AB's due to injury).  Returning behind the dish is sophomore Kevin McCune who hit .367 with 29 RBI as a freshman.  Pishkur will also look to McCune for production on the mound.  Despite the lack of experience on the mound, the 59ers, a perennial 3A power, are still a favorite to win the Northwest Crossroads Conference.  Depending on how the pitching comes together, don't be surprised to see Andrean make another run in the post-season.
