FRANKTON--- Wapahani sophomore left-handed hurler Zack Thompson stole the show both on the mound and at the plate in last night's sectional 7-1 win over Lapel.

Thompson, a 6-foot-1 lefty, was impressive right from the start when his first fastball of the night read 90 on the gun.  With very easy effort, the sophomore sat 87-90 through the first four innings, touching 91 at one point.  Thompson has two solid secondary pitches; a 76-80 mph breaking ball with good depth and a splitter with good sink.

The Wapahani sophomore went the distance in last night's win, scattering three hits and allowing just one run while striking out 12.

Thompson not only limited Lapel's offense, but he contributed heavily to his own.  He finished the game going 2-3 with a double, a walk and 2 RBI.

Senior Taylor McKee finished the night going 3-4 with 2 runs scored.  Sophomore Hayden Castor finished his night going 2-4 with an RBI and 1 Run.  Seniors Jacob Walters and Drew Brant each had an RBI while fellow senior Luke Snider doubled and scored twice on the evening.

The Wapahani Raiders will face the Frankton Eagles on Monday at 5:30 pm for the Sectional 40 Championship.
