Wide-shouldered with an imposing yet projectable 6-foot-4, 170-pound frame, the big right-hander delivered fastballs at 85-88 with much more in the tank. Still developing polish on the mound, Cornett’s spin rates stood out as the fastball ran up to 2580 RPM, and received multiple swings and misses. Early on, he flashed a curveball with gradual break at 65-68, but demonstrated potential aptitude for spin by showcasing a firmer 70-74 slider with some sweeping action. Above all else, the frame and quickness of the arm stand out right now, and given his athleticism there is a chance that Cornett continues to make quick progressions in the future.
