2025 Spring Preview: Unsigned Seniors

Cooper Trinkle
Indiana Scouting Director

As the spring quickly approaches, we have a handful of talented players in the 2025 class yet to decide where they will play baseball at the next level. While the college landscape remains ever-evolving, these players certainly have the talent to help a college program win. Below, I have put together our top 10 ranked seniors in Indiana who are still on the board, along with a group of noteworthy players following.

Top Ten

Brayden Giesler OF / Jasper, IN / 2025

From Indiana Scout Blog : Week #5 - Giesler reached based all four plate appearances in my look this week - doubling twice and working two walks. The uncommitted junior is physical, standing at 6-foot-3, 195 pounds, and hits from the left side of the dish. Giesler showed off some pull-side strength as he hammered two balls to the right-center field wall. He sets up in a balanced stance with a strong base, before a subtle load into the back leg and a controlled toe-tap stride. The swing works on an ideal bat path with plenty of natural bat speed. Giesler manned centerfield for the Wildcats in this look, showing quick lateral movements and an above average arm, although he profiles as a corner outfielder at the next level.

Riley Agbonhese OF / Zionsville Community High School, IN / 2025

From '24 Preseason Preview Quick Hits - '25 OF Riley Agbonhese (Zionsville), a top-ranked uncommitted prospect in the junior class, had a strong showing at the Preseason Preview. Noticeably stronger, standing at 6-foot-3, 195 pounds, the frame looks the part of a real prospect and he posted strong metrics to match. Agbonhese blazed a 6.69 60 to start the day, which is encouraging to see with the added strength. The uncommitted junior followed that by taking a loud roud of batting practice, showing a loose, whippy swing with some jump off the barrel, reaching a peak exit velocity of 96.5 mph. Agbonhese had a breakout sophomore season at Zionsville, and should have the attention of recruiters as he enters his junior spring after a strong offseason of development.

Ty Frakes SS / Pendleton Heights, IN / 2025

From Indiana Scout Blog : Mid-May Update - Frakes is an uncommitted middle-infielder who gave a solid look. An athletic prospect with body control, standing at 5-foot-10, 155 pounds. Frakes had a big extra-base-hit in my look, turning around a 90 mph fastball to deep left center field. The junior hits out of a tall, relaxed stance with a barrel tip to trigger and a hover type stride forward - the path is direct and short. Frakes shows bat-to-ball feel and seems to always be on base in looks. A 6.78 runner at this time, Frakes profiles as a high contact top of the order bat. Defensively, the actions were fundamental  - showing quick feet and sure hands with a quick release. The Pendleton Heights product is an undersized gamer with quality actions all around.

MJ Gaines OF / Park Tudor School, IN / 2025

From Indiana Scout Blog : Week #4 - Gaines hit out of the Park Tudor leadoff spot and he went 2-for-4 with two runs batted in in this look. An athletic, 6-foot-0, 185 pound left-handed hitter, he sets up in a tall, athletic stance and turns the barrel on a slightly uphill plane. A solid runner (4.3 on an E6), Gaines showed above average foot-speed on the base paths and in CF. The uncommitted junior also showed off an above average arm in pre-game IO, the arm works long and uninterrupted. Gaines has added strength to his athletic frame and that should allow for more continued bat strength at the dish. The athleticism and frame stood out for me in this look.

Bradley Farris C / RHP / Morgan Township, IN / 2025

+ Farris boasts big arm strength with an 84 mph arm from the crouch to go along with a fastball that has reportedly been into the upper-80s. He shows a quick transfer from the crouch and capable receiving abilities. Offensively, he shows a short, rotational swing with some strength. There is untapped potential in the operation on the mound that leads me to believe his ceiling could be higher there.

Dawson French RHP / SS / Penn High School, IN / 2025

From '24 Preseason All-State Quick Hits - RHP Dawson French (Penn) was another uncommitted arm that showed well. Owning a projectable, athletic, 6-foot-3, 180 pound frame - French pitched at 86-88 mph with the fastball from a high 3/4 arm slot. French shows tons of feel for a late breaking, slurvey breaking ball at 72-74 mph, his best offspeed offering at the moment. The changeup sat 77-79 mph and was well-located with fastball arm speed. French holds next level starter upside with a projectable frame and command of three usable pitches. Unafraid of the big moment, the 6-foot-3 righty gained valuable, big-game experience during Penn's State Championship run in 2023, earning the save in the 4A State Championship.

Adler Holtz RHP / SS / Valparaiso High School, IN / 2025

From '24 Bloomington Preseason ID Quick Hits - '25 RHP/SS Adler Holtz (Valparaiso HS) was another prospect that has seriously elevated his game this offseason. Holtz improved his fastball from 77-80 mph at last summer's Northwest Indiana Open, now sitting 84-87, touching 88 mph. The proportional, 6-foot-2, 195 pound right-hander works with little effort from an over-the-top slot to create downhill angle on a riding fastball (16"+ IVB). I really liked how easy the delivery was, allowing him to fill the zone consistently with all three of his offerings. The fastball is certainly his best pitch, but he also showed an 11/5 shaped curveball with depth at 71-72 mph, and flashed a changeup at 73-75 mph. I like Adler as an arm more than as a bat, but he did show some two-way prowess as a physical infielder with plenty of arm strength (89 mph across) and solid bat strength (100 mph exit velocity).

Rhet Heckman RHP / Owen Valley, IN / 2025

+ After missing much of the summer due to injury, I got a look at Heckman late last fall. The proportional, 6-foot-1 right-hander showed off a casual effort delivery with command of mid-70s spin and a fastball that reached 87 mph. He shows an upper-70s change, as well. Heckman has some upside to go along with strike-thrower tendencies.

Jack Warner LHP / Danville Community, IN / 2025

*Missed much of '24 due to injury, From Fall 2023 - A 6-foot-4, 200 pound southpaw that provides all-kinds of funk in the delivery. Warner attacks from a sidearm slot that provides a unique look - and his low-to-mid 80s (T86) fastball runs significantly to the arm-side due to the slot. Warner's best pitch is his slider, a true sweeper that works side-to-side and averages over 21" of horizontal break, spinning at 2600+ RPM. Warner's fastball/slider combination both have present swing-and-miss traits and are especially tough on left-handed hitters. Warner projects as a nightmare left-on-left bullpen matchup, with the upside to develop into a backend arm.

Aiden Kerr C / RHP / Perry Meridian High School, IN / 2025

From Indiana Scout Blog : Week 4 - Kerr had an outstanding start to his junior season - and he hit the hardest ball that I have seen hit thus far. Kerr turned around a low-90s fastball in his first at-bat for a no-doubt home run to CF, easily leaving the bat at 105+. The sturdy, 6-foot-1, 220 pound backstop proceeded to sit on a breaking ball his next AB for a pull-side double. The swing works with significant bat speed and there is tons of strength at impact. It is encouraging to see Kerr on-time with high velocity early in the season. There is serious raw power in his game, however, he is a below average runner at this time. Defensively, Kerr is a sturdy target behind the dish with above average hands. His arm is a solid tool, showing strength behind the dish, and holding two-way upside as a reliever with an upper-80s fastball.

From '24 BAM Scout Day Quick Hits - '25 RHP/C Aiden Kerr (Perry Meridian) brings a strong, broad-shouldered, 6-foot-1, 220 pound frame to the rubber. A slow-tempo mover, Kerr shows above average stuff out of a short, compact arm action. There are cut/ride properties to his 86-88 mph fastball, playing well with his sharp, 79-80 mph slider and two-plane breaking ball at 72-74. Kerr provides upside as a solid two-way player, doubling as a power hitting catcher with solid catch-and-throw abilities.

More Notable Unsigned Seniors

Caden Lindsey OF / Westfield, IN / 2025

+ Lindsey is an athletic outfielder who has been a staple in the Rocks' outfield for two seasons and brings high-end athleticism back to CF for his senior season. The 5-foot-11, 175 pounder has a top recorded 60-time of 6.73 that he uses well on the basepaths and when tracking down fly balls. Offensively, it is a short, athletic swing with a contact-oriented approach. There is some twitchy strength present, with upside considering he will graduate before turning 18, one of the youngest players in the class.

Kai Kunz RHP / Jasper, IN / 2025

From Indiana Scout Blog : Week 5 - Kunz offered a solid look in his start versus Jeffersonville. A physical, imposing presence on the mound at 6-foot-5, 245 pounds, Kunz worked the fastball 84-86 mph early with some ride through the zone, while setting in at 82-85 mph. The right-hander utilized a simple, stretch-only delivery - quick leg lift to a slight cross-fire delivery, with the arm working uninterrupted to a H ¾ slot. Kunz offered a curveball at 69-71 mph and a slider at 71-74 mph, while flashing a changeup at 76 mph. The Jasper righty punched five in five innings pitched, while allowing one earned run.

*Kunz pitched up to 88 during our summer coverage*

Ethan Mansfield OF / North Posey High School, IN / 2025

From Indiana Scout Blog - May Update- Mansfield offered a loud look from the start - the uncommitted junior went deep to right-center field at Braun Stadium, home of the Evansville Purple Aces, in his first at-bat. Mansfield possesses a strong frame at 6-foot-1 190 pounds - he sets up in a balanced stance with a simple barrel tip and a shorter hover type stride. The swing works level and rotational with bat speed and gap-to-gap strength. Mansfield played CF for the North Posey Vikings in this look, showing some athleticism and a strong arm. Mansfield profiles as a corner outfielder at the next-level with a well-balanced toolset.

*Video from 6/13/24

Blake Kouder C / Andrean High School, IN / 2025

+ Kouder is a physical R/R catcher that does his best work in the right-handed batters' box. He's strong with a 5-foot-11, 205 pound frame that creates bat strength to the tune of exit velocities near 100 mph. He is a solid receiver behind the dish with fringy arm strength. Kouder runs a 6.95 60, suggesting the athleticism to slide to a corner outfield spot if needed.

Jaxtyn Alexander LHP / Crown Point, IN / 2025

From '24 Fall State Games - Alexander is a projectable, 6-foot-3, 170 pound two-way that showed well at the State Games. Offensively, the left-handed hitter shows a whippy swing with quick bat speed and can play both the OF and 1B at an above average clip. I am fondest of Alexander on the mound, where the projectable lefty shows feel to pitch with multiple offerings. His clean arm action and balanced delivery produced a low-80s fastball that reached 84 mph, while manipulating shape on a tightly-spun breaking ball in the low-to-mid 70's.

Deagan Kitchel 1B / OF Logansport Community High School, IN / 2025

+ Kitchel is an interesting unsigned senior with a high-upside, wiry, 6-foot-3, 180 pound frame. Deagan runs very well for his lengthy frame, turning in a 6.76 60-time at our Top Prospect Games - North last summer. Kitchel caught out staffs' attention after batting .485 with 11 2B, 7 3B, and 4 HR as a junior at Logansport last spring, before showing well across a couple looks on the summer circuit in 2024. There is some rawness to the swing, but the upside frame paired with solid overall tools (also 85 mph across the infield) is an interesting combination.

Gavyn Fisher RHP / Shelbyville, IN / 2025

+ A 6-foot-2, 205 pound right-hander, Fisher remains uncommitted and offers solid stuff and command to go along with his durable frame. His fastball works in the mid-80s (T 87) with arm-side run, pairing with a tight, mid-to-upper 70s slider that is his best pitch, and a splitter that he kills spin on in the mid-to-upper 70s as well. The arm swing is clean with moderate effort in the delivery, though his stuff and command allows for starters' upside at the next level.

* Video from late fall 2023

Luke Greene LHP / RONCALLI HIGH SCHOOL, IN / 2025

From 2024 Fall State Games - Greene brought a unique look to the mound with a near sidearm slot that provides all-kinds of deception. The 6-foot-3, 185 pounder pitched at 80-83 with tons of arm-side run, and tunneled both a low-70s change and sweeper off the fastball. Greene creates a real tough look for left-handed hitters, while he showed the ability to pitch to both sides of the plate to keep righties off balance.

Owen Futa 3B / OF / Saint Joseph, IN / 2025

From 2024 Fall State Games - Futa is an unsigned senior that brings value in a multitude of ways. A solid runner (6.82) with a level, contact-oriented swing - the athletic, 6-foot, 165 pounder boasts serious defensive versatility with the ability to play anywhere on the diamond with above average arm strength. Futa brings a well-rounded toolset to the table that only compliments his athletic frame and gamer tendencies.
