Forward lean while receiving.  Shoulders and feet get squared.  On the mound, Fitzpatrick maintains a strong, loose arm action.  Raw movements, creates an inward turn while loading.  Stride leg lands squared, gets firm.  Life on the fastball sitting 84-85, touching 86.  Been up to 87 this past spring. Breaking ball sat 69-72 with downer shape.  Good angle on fastball and breaking ball.  Offensively, he has an athletic setup with smooth load.  Leg kick, hands load back.  Quick barrel turn.  Short follow through.  Created loud contact on several swings.  Exit velocity topped at 90.  High energy player.

2017 Spring Scout Blog:
Two way athlete took the mound for the opening round of the 4A sectional. Stands 6-foot-1 190 pounds with a strong upper body and some athleticism. Simple delivery with easy effort and good acceleration from the lower half. Complete finish at times, but will stop the follow through on some pitches. Average tempo. Fastball velocity saw gains since we saw him in the summer. Was a solid 86-87 in the first few innings with some sink action before settling in at 82-83 in the 4th. Breaking ball was 72-74 throughout flashing some sharpness. Could be a very good pitch if the action was more consistent. All pitches were commanded well. Continued development will lend itself to good projectability on the mound.

2/25/17:
Stocky, 6-foot-1, 190 pound catcher has quick feet and clean transfer behind the plate.  Arm action is short, quick.  Tendency to lean, dive forward as he receives.  Pop times ranged between 2.00-2.08 with throws topping at 79.  Receiving skills are average, sometimes creating too much movement.  In the box, Fitzpatrick has fast bat speed with ability to drive ball gap to gap.  Top exit velocity of 90mph.  Short stride, hands load back.  Ran a 7.57 60yd dash.

Scouting Report

4/13-4/14 Game Notes:
The 5'11", 170 pound sophomore catcher caught both games
Friday night and was solid behind the plate and in the batters box. Sat and received the baseball easy, both in and out, while also blocking the baseball in a good position. Good athleticism behind the plate, feet worked towards the bases to throw. Pop times were 2.05-2.12 and threw out one runner at 3rd. Average arm strength, transfer is clean, but does need to get quicker to release after catch. Tendency to stand up and get tall after catch. Frame is strong and mature for his age but skill set still has room to grow. Narrow setup in the box, slightly open with simple quiet leg lift to load to start swing. Barrel and hands work in good path to baseball and consistently barreled the baseball in both games. Good athlete and follow in the 2019 class.
