Cooper Trinkle
PBR Indiana

Indiana’s Class of 2023 State Rankings have been updated and there were plenty of players who made a climb up the rankings with a strong junior spring and summer. Today, we highlight 20 risers from our recent 2023 class rankings update.

Bishop Letson RHP / OF / Floyd Central , IN / 2023

A long, lanky 6-foot-3, 160 pounder with an electric arm. The Purdue recruit was outstanding in multiple looks this spring, showing a clean, quick arm that produced a fastball up to 92 mph. Letson has a sharp, swing-and-miss breaking ball at 78-79 mph with the feel to throw it in any count. He doesn’t use his changeup often, but it's an above-average pitch at 78-80 mph with fade to his armside. Letson has some of the best stuff in Indiana’s 2023 class and his long, lanky frame and clean, quick arm suggests that there is still velo left in the tank.

Eli Bridenthal RHP / SS / Mt. Vernon, IN / 2023

The Xavier commit dominated at Indiana’s Summer Championships, posting 16 strikeouts in a CG win. A large part of his success was due to his sharp, swing-and-miss slider at 75-78 mph that he threw at will. His FB sat 87-89 T 90 mph w/ slight ASR. The athletic, 6-foot-3, 185 pounder also showed a ton of confidence in his sinking CH @ 79-80 mph, even throwing it R/R. Bridenthal’s mix of pitchability, athleticism, and an advanced breaking ball cements him as a Top 10 player in Indiana’s 2023 class.

Garrison Barile CF / SS / Center Grove, IN / 2023

Barile is a threat to do damage every time he steps to the plate, and he did just that in multiple looks throughout the spring and summer. Barile possesses plus bat speed to go along with an upward bat path, a combination that makes him one of the best bats in Indiana’s 2023 class. The Miami OH recruit is uber-physical at 6-foot-2, 200lbs but also possesses enough athleticism (6.76 runner) to be a threat on the base paths.

Josh Adamczewski SS / 3B / Lake Central, IN / 2023

Adamczewski can flat swing it, and proved just that in multiple looks throughout the spring and summer. The 6-foot, 185 pound left-handed hitter has advanced bat speed and is a threat to do damage every time he steps to the dish. He hits with a strong, anchored lower half, allowing him to create torque in the back leg and stay behind baseballs. The Ball State recruit has shown plenty of defensive versatility, with the ability to play all 3 infield spots and enough arm strength (87mph) to give him a chance to play the left side at the next level.

Kevin Reed LHP / OF / Martinsville , IN / 2023

An Evansville recruit, Reed has some of the best pitchability in the class. The 5-foot-10, 175 pounder has a controlled, smooth leg lift w/ a clean arm swing and an over-the-top arm slot. He commands his 85-88 mph FB to both sides of the plate, showing good ride through the zone. He has a big, 11/5 breaking ball at 69-72 mph that he can throw in any count. Reed flashes an advanced changeup in the upper 70s with late fade.

Kyuss Gargett SS / 2B / Cathedral, IN / 2023

Gargett is a next-level athlete at 6-foot, 185 pounds with an elite run tool (6.53). The Kentucky recruit shows advanced range and really quick feet in the infield. At the dish, he’s a switch hitter with a smooth, athletic swing and twitchy bat speed.

Ricky Howell RHP / 2B / Pendleton Heights, IN / 2023

Howell is an uncommitted 2023 on the rise this summer and was impressive in his outing at the Indiana Summer Championships. The athletic, 6-foot-1, 180 pounder has an advanced fastball at 87-91 touching 92 mph. The FB has some ASR and he tunneled a tight, 72-76 mph breaking ball off of it. While he does have some inconsistencies with command, when everything syncs up his stuff is electric. Developing CH at 76-77.

Evan Lopez RHP / 3B / Bremen , IN / 2023

Uncommitted 2023 RHP. At 6-foot-3, 180 pounds, Lopez has a smooth, balanced delivery with a long, clean arm action from a H3/4 slot. He sits 85-88 mph with occasional ASR & good ride to the FB, producing lots of S/M. He kept hitters off balance with a tight, 75-76 mph breaking ball. Lopez has a sky-high ceiling and would be a very solid add to many recruiting classes.

Gavin Collins OF / LHP / Northridge High School , IN / 2023

A Penn recruit, Collins was named to the PBR Indiana All-State team after a standout junior spring. A strong, 5-foot-11, 185 pounder with a really strong hit tool and plenty of athleticism (6.59 runner). Collins was one of the top performers at Indiana’s Top Prospect Games in June, where he had multiple hits in gameplay, including a deep home run. Collins has a simple, quick swing and can really rotate with tons of bat speed.

Grant Borden SS / 2B / Providence High School, IN / 2023

Uncommitted 2023 INF. 6-foot-3, 175 pound athletic frame. Borden uses a toe tap stride and is able to create good separation in the swing. Defensively, he has next level hands and rhythmic footwork. Borden has shown the ability to play all four infield spots, as well. Borden is a very good runner at a 6.76 60.

Adam Lehmann C / RHP / Penn, IN / 2023

Uncommitted 2023. Solid, physical 6-foot-3, 210 pound frame with a strong lower half. True two-way capabilities as a RHP/1B/C. On the bump, he has compact arm action with a high 3/4 release. FB sits 85-88 mph with a low-effort level. Good feel for his CB at 71-73 mph. CH at 74-75 mph. Velocity still in the tank for Lehmann. As a position player, Lehmann possesses some bat speed with solid bat-to-ball skills. Loose swing with a gap to gap approach. Lots of flexibility behind the plate with sure hands and athletic footwork.

Nate Simpson OF / Avon, IN / 2023

A Purdue-Fort Wayne recruit, Simpson performed time and time again throughout multiple looks during the spring and summer. The 6-foot, 175 pounder has a loose, quick left-handed swing w/ the ability to spray the ball all over the park. A 6.81 runner, Simpson shows good range in CF and looks comfortable tracking balls from gap to gap.

Tripp Schroeder C / 3B / Carmel, IN / 2023

Uncommitted 2023 catcher with a very physical 6-foot-1, 230 pound frame. Quick hands through the zone with a pull side approach. Solid bat speed and lots of pop. Projectable power from the right-handed hitter. Multiple exit velocities above 100 mph at our Indy Open event in August. 1.93 - 2.07 pop time behind the plate. Quick footwork and a quick exchange behind the dish to go along with plenty of arm strength (82 mph from the crouch).

John Curl 1B / OF / Kokomo, IN / 2023

An Indiana State recruit, Curl has a strong, 6-foot-3, 220 pound frame with present barrel strength. Hands accelerate through contact. Curl has considerable power to the opposite field and showed the ability to hit high velocity this summer.

Kyle Manship RHP / 2B / Fishers , IN / 2023

An uncommitted 2023 RHP, Manship has a 6-foot-1, 170 pound frame with a long, projectable build. Manship has an up tempo delivery with a quick arm. FB sits 83-85 T 87 mph mph with cutting action. He has a sharp, swing-and-miss slider at 72-73 mph. Manship still has some velocity left in the tank.

Jaden Hart OF / 2B / Jeffersonville High School, IN / 2023

An uncommitted 2023 with the ability to play all over the diamond. Our staff was impressed with Hart in multiple looks throughout the 2022 high school season, but Hart made his biggest impression at the Southern Indiana Open this summer. Hart placed in the top 2 in every statistical category that he qualified for, including having the top Exit Velocity (95.1 mph) and OF Velo (91 mph). Hart is a quick-twitch athlete that ran a 6.83 (60-yard) dash and showed a quick, flat path at the plate that produced multiple line drives.

Sean Kasper RHP / OF / Chesterton, IN / 2023

A Purdue-Fort Wayne recruit, Kasper has a projectible, lanky 6-foot-2, 190 pound frame. Kasper maintained loose and quick arm action. FB sits 85-87 mph while touching 88 mph with the frame and arm speed to project more velocity in the tank. Tight breaking ball at 74-76 mph with feel to land it for strikes.

Evan Cooke RHP / RHP / West Lafayette High School, IN / 2023

Uncommitted 2023 with a physical 6-foot-4, 215 pound frame. Cooke attacks hitters from an over-the-top arm slot and possesses a solid FB/SL combo. FB sits 85-87 T 88 mph with late sink. Multiple swing and misses on his 74-76 mph slider.

Kevin Hall Jr UTILITY / SS / Munster, IN / 2023

Grambling State recruit with an athletic, 5-foot-8 160 pound build. 6.75 runner. Has the ability to play both OF and middle infield. Quick feet in the infield with sure hands. Case Sullivan SS / 3B / Carmel, IN / 2023
