Indiana Draft Preview



The 2017 Major League Draft takes place June 12-14. In advance of the draft, Prep Baseball Report is posting a summary of each state in the coverage area with scouting reports on the top high school draft prospects.

The last couple drafts have been noteworthy for Indiana’s high school scene. The 2017 class doesn’t have the same pop, but offers some depth with several players to follow as they head to various Division I programs. RHP Chandler Ferguson (Lafayette Jefferson HS, IN) is the top prospect and has the most upside, though he is raw.

At 6-foot-3, 193 pounds, Ferguson has a highly athletic and projectable frame with long limbs and wiry strength. He pitches from a loose, quick arm action that comes through a high-3/4 slot. His delivery is smooth and athletic with minimal effort.
