The 2018 spring high school season in Indiana generated some incredible individual moments and performances throughout all corners of the state. As the spring high school season comes to a close, Prep Baseball Report is excited to announce one player who emerged ahead of the competition at all levels in the state of Indiana. This player has been selected not only for their outstanding statistical numbers, but also for their overall effect on their high school program.

Nicholas Schnell, Roncalli HS, 2018

Schnell, a senior left-handed hitting outfielder from Roncalli HS, produced a strong statistical season while helping lead his team to a Marion County Championship and Sectional Championship.

The 6-foot-2, 180 pound Schnell hit .535 on the year with 15 HR, 8 2B, 37 RBI and 19 SB.   Schnell is committed to Louisville and was recently selected by the Tampa Bay Rays in the 1st round at pick No. 32.

Schnell’s all-around performance, as well as the impact he has had on Roncalli HS has earned him the 2018 Prep Baseball Report Indiana State Player of the Year honors.

Schnell has been selected by Indiana Executive Director Phil Wade and the team of area scouts who covered the high school baseball season throughout the spring. The Prep Baseball Report staff has been diligently scouting and covering baseball games at baseball diamonds across the state this spring to bring parents, athletes and fans the most comprehensive coverage of amateur baseball across the United States.
