Indiana Recruiting Notebook

Several players in both the 2015 and 2016 classes picked their schools over the last month.  Below we recap who is going where.

Class of 2015 

Timmy Herrin, LHP, Terre Haute South HS, 2015: The 34th ranked player in Indiana's 2015 class recently committed to Indiana University.  The 6-foot-5 southpaw was up to 86 this summer.  

Zach Spears, LHP, Mt. Vernon HS, 2015: The 2013 Future Games Team Indiana member is committed to Miami (OH).  Spears is a projectable 6-foot-6 lefty with a fastball that was up to 87 this summer.  He's currently ranked 22nd in the 2015 class. Read more on Spears' commitment HERE

Caleb Sampen, RHP, Brownsburg HS, 2015: The 35th ranked player in the 2015 class and Top Prospect Games participant has committed to Wright State.  Sampen saw his stock increase over the summer with a fastball sitting in the upper 80's, reaching 91.  

Davie Inman, 3B/RHP, West Vigo HS, 2015:  The athletic Inman recently committed to Indiana State. Inman was up to 86 on the mound at the Top Prospect Games in June and recorded a 94 mph exit velo. Inman is currently ranked No. 52. Read more on Inman's commitment HERE

Luke Miller, OF/INF, Cowan HS, 2015: The 6-foot-3 multi-positional Miller has committed to Indiana University.  Miller, ranked 12th in the class, was a member of Team Indiana at the 2013 Future Games and considered to be on of the better hitters in the Midwest.  

Nick Podkul, SS, Andrean HS, 2015: The 19th ranked player in the 2015 class and 2013 Future Games Team Indiana member committed to Notre Dame. Podkul is an athletic MIF with good pop at the plate.  

Class of 2016

Michael Pachmayer, LHP, Hamilton SE HS, 2016: Pachmayer is a projectable LHP ranked 40th in the 2016 class that recently committed to Ball State.

Braden Niksich, RHP, Hobart HS, 2016: The 24th ranked player in the 2016 class committed to Illinois State.  Nicksich was up to 87 in the spring.  Read more about his commitment HERE

Justin Reed, RHP, Lawrence North HS, 2016: The RHP ranked 17th in the class was a member of Team Indiana at this year's Future Games where he sat 86-87 with good off-speed.  Shortly after the Future Games he committed to Indiana University.  Read more on Reed's commitment HERE

Skylar Szynski, RHP, Penn HS, 2016:  The 6-foot-2 RHP was a member of Team Indiana at this year's Future Games where he impressed with a fastball up to 92 mph.  The 6th ranked player in the class committed to Indiana University shortly after the Future Games. Cal Krueger, 3B/RHP, Jasper HS, 2016: The athletic Krueger is ranked No. 20 in the class and was also a member of Team Indiana at this year's Future Games where he displayed good arm strength in the field and also ran a 6.92 60.  Krueger committed to Indiana University shortly after the Future Games. Andrew Saalfrank, LHP, Heritage HS, 2016: The 6-foot-3 southpaw is ranked No. 5 in the 2016 class. He was a member of Team Indiana at this year's Future Games and was arguably the biggest riser at the event with a plus curveball and mid 80's fastball.  Shortly after the event Saalfrank committed to Indiana University.
