Indiana Recruiting Notebook

Several more prospects have picked their schools, including four Team Indiana players from the 2012 Midwest Future Games.

Alex Del Rio, C/OF, Munster HS, 2014: Del Rio has committed to the University of Missouri, now in the SEC. He was also a member of Team Indiana at the 2012 Midwest Future Games.  Del Rio shows a pop time between 1.97-2.07.  From the OF he is 85 mph.  Del Rio is ranked No. 26 in the 2014 class. 

Max Gray, RHP/OF, Lawrence North HS, 2014: Gray, a member of Team Indiana at last year’s Midwest Future Games, recently committed to Heartland Community College in Illinois.  Gray is a 5-foot-11 RHP that sits mid to upper 80’s, touching 90.  He possesses one of the most impressive arms from the OF, touching 97 mph this past February at the Preseason All State Showcase. Gray is ranked No. 18 in the 2014 class.

Aaron Schnell, OF, Roncalli HS, 2014: Schnell recently committed to Bellmont.  He was a member of Team Indiana at the 2012 Midwest Future Games and considered one of the top OF in the ’14 class.  

Judah Zickafoose, OF, Westview HS, 2014: Zickafoose will be attending Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, AZ.  The 6-foot-4, 185 pound, left handed hitting OF shows tons of projectability.  Zickafoose was a member of Team Indiana at the 2012 Midwest Future Games and is ranked No. 11. 

Taylor Goshen, RHP, Ft. Wayne Carroll, 2014: Goshen will be attending Wichita State in the fall of 2014.  Goshen throws a heavy fastball consistently in the mid to upper 80’s.  The No. 25 ranked prospect in the ’14 class attended the Preseason All State Showcase as well as the Top Prospect Games this year.  

Zach Longnecker, RHP/1B, Tri HS, 2014: Longnecker recently committed to Vincennes.  He attended the Preseason All State Showcase this past February as well as the Top Prospect Games in June where he sat 80-82 on the mound.

Gage Rogers, 3B/RHP, Bloomington South HS, 2014: The 6-foot-1 Rogers recently committed to High Point University in North Carolina. Rogers is one of the top two-way players in the state.  On the mound he sits 86-91 mph.  Rogers attended the Top Prospect Games this past June at I.U. He is ranked No. 9 in the 2014 class.

Harry Shipley, MIF, Cathedral HS, 2014: Shipley a top MIF in his class defensively, is committed to Purdue.  He shows advanced actions with a solid glove.  Shipley helped lead Cathedral to the State Championship game this June.  He is ranked No. 60 in the 2014 class.

Logan Weins, LHP/1B, Frankton HS, 2014: The 6-foot-2 senior is committed to Western Kentucky. Weins attended the 2012 Preseason All State Showcase in Indianapolis where he was up to 85 on the mound. 

Kevin Jones, RHP, Portage HS, 2014: The RHP is committed to Northern Illinois.  Jones throws a mid to upper 80’s fastball.  He is ranked 28th in the 2014 class. 

Jerred Quartier, RHP, Anderson HS, 2014: Quartier is committed to John A. Logan College in Illinois.  Quartier is ranked No. 30 in the ’14 class.  This summer he sat 88-90 in a game we saw him pitch.

Andrew Sykes, LHP, Valparaiso, 2014: Heartland Community College commit is ranked No. 38 in the 2014 class.
