Future Games Spotlight: 2016 RHP Skylar Szynski

By Phil Wade

Director, PBR Indiana

The Prep Baseball Report Midwest Future Games Powered By Under Armour is a one-of-a-kind event featuring the top 2016 prospects from across the PBR coverage area. The 4th annual Futures Games will take place at Grand Park in Westfield, IN from July 31-August 2 where hundreds of scouts from across the country will fill the stands to watch some of the top uncommitted 2016 prospects across our coverage area.

Last year Indiana's Class of 2015 Future Games Team has already seen 15 Division 1 commitments from that roster. Over the next couple of weeks we will spotlight players who have been selected to participate in this year's event

Name: Skylar SzynskiSkylar Szynski
High School: Penn
Graduating Class: 2016
Position: RHP
Height: 6-2
Weight: 195

State Ranking: 9

The 6 foot-2, 195 pound Szynski is a strong, athletic player with plenty of arm strength and tons of projectability on the mound. The fastball sits 88-90 from an easy 3/4 arm slot.  The ball jumps out of his hand and creates good downhill plane while consistently staying in the zone.  The breaking ball is still in the developmental stage at 70-72 with a sweeping action.  The RHP also throws a serviceable changeup at 80-81.  At the HS level he's a two way guy, also playing the OF, but projects on the mound at the next level. From the OF his throws are accurate at 88 mph. Offensively he uses a short, compact swing and squares up a lot of pitches.  Szynski shows well above average speed running a 6.87 60.
