Preseason All-State : Underclass Quick Hits - 2026/2027 Prospect Notes

Cooper Trinkle
PBR Indiana

Our Preseason All-State: Underclass edition featured over 200 of the state’s top 2025 - 2027 prospects. There was no shortage of talent at this event, to say the least, with thirteen arms touching 90 mph or better and fourteen division one recruits in attendance. Today, I am highlighting 21 youngsters that showed quality skillsets at the Preseason All-State.

Hudson Devaughan, RHP, Mooresville HS, 2026

Devaughan has one of the highest ceilings of any prospect we’ve seen in Indiana’s 2026 class. The high-waisted, 6-foot-2, 160 pounder showed off a clean and quick arm that produced fastballs that ranged from 88-89 T 89.7 mph. The delivery is simple and easy with well-timed intent moving down the slope from the top of his balance point. The Mooresville product flashed a potential plus breaking ball at 75-78 mph that spun at 2500+ RPMs. His changeup flashed arm side run but is still developing at this point.

Aiden Reynolds, INF, Noblesville HS, 2026 - Indiana University recruit

The Indiana recruit is beginning to grow and mature into an athletic, 6-foot, 170 pound frame. However, his right-handed stroke is still as pure as ever as he continues to show why he is the top-ranked bat in Indiana’s 2026 class. I love the pace at which Aiden moves in the box, never rushed, and always maintaining rhythm in the barrel. A 7.1 runner, Reynolds moves with fluid actions in the infield and showed advanced arm strength for the class (88 INF).

Kobe Cherry, RHP/1B, Center Grove HS, 2026

The one word I would use to best describe Kobe Cherry on the mound - powerful. An absolute physical specimen at 6-foot-3 and 220 pounds, Cherry has next-level strength and has still yet to play a varsity baseball game. The Center Grove product sat 87-89 T 89.9 mph in his bullpen with a quality three-pitch arsenal. His best offspeed pitch is an 11/5 curveball that he flipped over at ease at 70-73 mph (2500+ RPM). He flashed an advanced changeup at 70-73 with tumble as well. While Cherry’s future will most likely be on the mound, he also posted a 95 mph exit velocity during batting practice and showed off his powerful right-arm with a 91 mph infield velocity.

Aiden Smith, RHP/OF, Shelbyville HS, 2026

Smith has added strength and velocity over the offseason and it paid dividends at the Preseason All-State. The high-waisted, 6-foot-2, 155 pounder sat 84-86 T 88 mph on his fastball, showing an 8 mph improvement compared to a look late last summer. Smith is an athletic mover on the mound with a fast arm and real feel for two distinct breaking balls. His 73-75 mph slider has a flatter break to it compared to his bigger, 70-71 mph curveball with vertical depth. Smith posted impressive two-way measurables, with an exit velocity of 94 mph and an outfield velocity of 91 mph.

Reed Robinson, C/OF, New Prairie HS, 2026

I love the profile that Robinson offers, a compact, 5-foot-9, 175 pound switch-hitting catcher with tons of strength in the frame. Robinson has a well-sequenced swing from both sides of the dish and swings a heavy barrel (94 EV). The New Prairie product was the only 2026 catcher with sub - 2.0 Pop times at the event.

Dylan Bowen, SS, Hanover Central HS, 2026

Multi-sport athlete with tons of athleticism standing at 5-foot-10 and 168 pounds. At the dish, Bowen has quick hands and twitchy bat speed within a simple, repeatable swing. I loved the way Dylan moved around the infield, an athletic defender that showed fluid tempo with feet that work downhill and are consistently in rhythm. A 6.83 runner, Bowen showed off plenty of arm strength for the class (86 INF) as well as the ability to quick release.

Colt Dehart, RHP/OF, Indian Creek HS, 2026

Dehart is a legitimate two-way guy for me, with upside on both sides of the baseball. The lanky, 6-foot-2, 170 pounder moved down the mound with effortless intent and showed a clean, compact arm action that produced a fastball up to 85 mph. Dehart flashed an above-average breaking ball with slurvey action at 69-72 mph. I also really liked the way Dehart swung from the left-handed batters box. The long-levered LHH showed an efficient path with a middle-of-the-diamond approach and blossoming power potential.

Kellen Thomson, RHP/INF, Center Grove HS, 2026

Thomson is undoubtedly an arm to follow in the 2026 class. A wiry, athletic, 6-foot-3, 185 pound righty - Thomson showcased a very clean arm swing and athleticism throughout the delivery that allowed him to fill the zone with a three-pitch mix. The Center Grove product ran his fastball up to 84.5 mph, but expect that number to tick up in the near future. I liked Thomson’s feel for a sinking, 74-76 mph changeup and I think his 71-74 mph breaking ball has the potential to be an above-average offering as well.

Trent Gill, INF, Valparaiso HS, 2026 - Indiana University recruit

I really liked the way Gill swung the bat at the Preseason All-State. The Indiana recruit has a short, repeatable swing that maintains connection to contact allowing for easy barrel control. The 6-foot-1, 165 pounder has tons of twitch within the frame, allowing for quick bat speed and one of the best run times of any ‘26 at the event (6.73 60).

Eli Sinsabaugh, SS, Cathedral HS, 2026

Sinsabaugh was one of the biggest winners of the event, showing improved physicality and foot speed after the offseason. The Cathedral product was one of the best athletes in attendance, turning in the best 60 time of any 2026 (6.65) and putting up a 35” vertical leap. The strength gains allowed for improved bat speed which paid dividends in his batting practice round. The 5-foot-8, 140 pounder bounced around the infield with quick feet and showed improved arm strength across the diamond (85 mph).

Gannon Grant, RHP/SS, Center Grove HS, 2026

The athletic, 6-foot, 155 pounder showed a major tick up in velocity at the Preseason All-State, sitting 84-87 T 88 mph on his fastball. Grant has a simple delivery with tons of quickness in the arm and spun a quality, 69-73 mph curveball with depth. Gannon showed better on the mound in this look, but still has some upside as a two-way prospect, showcasing clean actions in the infield and an upward swing at the dish.

Jackson Mitchell, RHP, Avon HS, 2026

Mitchell has a frame that cannot be taught, standing at 6-foot-7 and 225 pounds. The Avon product pitches from an over-the-top slot that produced a fastball up to 86 mph. Mitchell also showed some feel for an 11/5 curveball with depth at 68-72 mph. While there are still some inconsistencies with command and repeatability, the upside is impressive with this 6-foot-7 righty.

Victor Villegas, SS, Lake Central HS, 2026

A wiry, 5-foot-10, 135 pound infielder - I liked the way Villegas moved around the infield, showcasing fluid actions, soft hands, and solid arm strength for the class (84 INF). The Lake Central product showed efficient movements in the swing with developing bat speed and strength. Villegas still needs to pack on strength and size to be impactful with the bat, but I really like the actions that he showcased both offensively and defensively.

Conrad Bordui, RHP, Andrean HS, 2026

Bordui showed improved velocity on his fastball compared to a look late last fall, showcasing a fastball that sat 83-85 mph. Most of all, I liked Bordui’s ability to fill up the strike zone with a relatively low effort level. The Andrean product spun an above-average curveball at 70-72 mph, however I would like to see more development of his changeup moving forward.

Harrison Haq, RHP, Penn HS, 2026

Haq was another 2026 righty that showed improvements in his fastball velocity at the Preseason All-State. A projectable, 6-foot-2, 187 pounder - Haq filled the zone with fastballs ranging from 82-85 mph. Haq is a 2026 arm to keep tabs on, however I would like to see development from his 66-69 mph breaking ball moving forward.

Jackson Trueblood, RHP/3B, Trinity Lutheran HS, 2026

Trueblood is an intriguing arm in the 2026 class with a lot of things to like moving forward. A wiry, 6-foot-3, 165 pounder with tons of room to pack on strength and size - Trueblood showcased a fastball up to 86 mph with a quick, whippy arm. While his offspeed pitches are still developing, the frame and quickness within the arm suggests that there is still plenty of velo left in the tank.

Jake Winger, 3B/RHP, McCutcheon HS, 2026

I really like the upside that Winger possesses at the plate. A projectable, 6-foot-1, 168 pounder, Winger showed a smooth, well-sequenced swing from the right-side of the dish. He uses his lower half efficiently and matches that with a clean bat path that gets on plane early and stays on plane through the zone. With added strength and size, I think Winger could blossom into a quality power-hitting corner infielder in the next few years.

Drake McClurg, SS/CF, Center Grove HS, 2027

McClurg is a former PBR Junior Future Gamer that has a chance to be special with already advanced athleticism for the class. The future Center Grove Trojan turned in a 6.94 60 time, the top 60 time of any 2027 grad at the event. McClurg is a legitimate switch-hitter that took quality swings from both sides of the dish, creating well-timed separation with tons of athleticism in the swing.

Liam Delp, SS, Bloomington South HS, 2027

Despite being one of the youngest infielders at the event, Delp did not look out of place one bit in his defensive workout, showcasing impressive actions in the infield. A 7.16 runner, Delp looks the part of a shortstop moving forward with ultra-quick feet and advanced arm strength for the class (82 INF). While he is still a bit undersized at the moment, Delp showcased a short, simple swing with quick hands that will only improve as he continues to mature.

Lincoln Hoffman, OF, Westfield HS, 2027

Hoffman has plenty of upside at the plate and took some of my favorite swings of any 2027 grad at the Preseason All-State. The 5-foot-9, 160 pounder showed a clean bat path with smooth tempo and the ability to get to extension. His hips tend to slide forward, however when he is able to stay behind the ball the swing is very advanced.

Gavin Markus, RHP/SS, Greenfield Central HS, 2027

A former PBR Junior Future Games standout, Markus showed tons of upside in his bullpen at the Preseason All-State. A wiry, 6-foot, 140 pounder - Markus sat 80-82 mph on his fastball with impressive arm speed for the class. Markus spun a solid breaking ball at 68-70 mph that will only continue to improve as he matures and adds velocity. Bright future for the high-waisted, 2027 right-hander.
