Q&A with 2017 Indiana Commit Nick Eaton

Indiana received its third commit from the Hoosier state's 2017 class last week in Cathedral High School's Nick Eaton. Eaton, ranked No. 8 in the class, is a projectable 6-foot-2, 170 pound southpaw with a fastball currently in the low 80's.
PBR: Ultimately, why did you choose Indiana?
Eaton: It was the best fit for me and I wanted to go to a school close to home.
PBR: Where did IU first see you compete?
Eaton: They first saw me at the Underclass Tournament in Fort Myers.
PBR: Have you taken any visits down to Bloomington?
Eaton: Yes
PBR: What role do the coaches expect you to play when you first arrive on campus?
Eaton: They expect me to work extremely hard and to gain a spot in the pitching rotation.
PBR: Were there any other schools you were considering?
Eaton: Yes, Purdue.
PBR: You are currently just a sophomore at Cathedral, was there a reason(s) you decided to commit this early?
Eaton: I have a one set mind, and I don't like things floating in the air to think about. I knew IU was just the right place for me.
PBR: You play for the Prospects in the summer, talk about your experience so far playing with them.
Eaton: They have been great to me. They always put me in the best position to succeed.
PBR: Who has had the biggest impact on you as a baseball player?
Eaton: Mike Shirley.
PBR: What are your goals this coming season at Cathedral?
Eaton: My only goal is to make the varsity baseball team.
PBR: Who is the toughest hitter and or pitcher you've faced in Indiana?
Eaton: The toughest pitcher is Ashe Russell and toughest hitter is Harry Shipley.
