Recruiting News Around Indiana

Several prospects across the state have made their commitments over the past few weeks.  Here is a quick look at who’s going where:

Jonah Patten, Norwell HS, 2014:  Patten recently committed to the University of Arkansas.  The 6-foot-3, 190 pound RHP sits at 88-90 mph, recently touching 92 mph on a few occasions at the PBR Midwest Futures games a couple of weeks ago.

Isaac Sampen, Brownsburg HS, 2012:  Isaac recently committed to West Virginia.  He is a 6-foot-1, 185 pound multi-talented player that projects well on the mound and in the field.  On the mound he sits at 85-88 mph.

Sam Sampen, Brownsburg HS, 2013:  Sam Sampen will be joining his older brother Isaac at West Virginia.  The left handed hitter can hit for power.

Troy Montgomery, Mt. Vernon HS, 2013:  Montgomery, originally committed to the University of Illinois, recently had a change of heart and committed to Ohio State University.  He’s a high IQ baseball player who can flat out hit.

Demetrius Webb, North Central HS (Indpls.), 2013:  Webb recently committed to Indiana University.  Webb is an athletic catcher, and arguably the best catch and throw catcher in his class.

Tanner Tully, Elkhart Central HS, 2013:  Tully recently committed to Ohio State University.  He was one of the most sought after lefties in his class.  He sits at 85-87 mph with his fastball and shows a sweeping breaking ball with good, late action that he throws consistently for a strike.

Curtis Irving, Greenfield Central HS, 2013:  The power hitting senior recently committed to Ohio State University.

Austin Schultz, Greensburg HS, 2013: The 6-foot, 200 pound big bodied catcher recently committed to Northern Kentucky University.  He sits in the low two’s with his pop time and excels at the plate with good gap to gap power.
