Top 25 Class of 2016 Rankings Released

By Phil Wade

Director, PBR Indiana

T.J. Collett is the No.1 ranked player in Indiana’s 2016 class.  Collett, a member of Team Indiana at this year’s Midwest Future Games, is arguably the best hitter in the state.  He hits from the left side with power and explosive hands.  As a freshman last spring, Collett hit eight homeruns in just over 10 games.

Coming in at No. 2 is Lebanon High School’s Reid Schaller.  Schaller, also a member of Team Indiana at the MWFG, is a 6-foot-2, 165 pound RHP that sits upper 80’s, while topping out in the low 90’s.  He is a premium power pitcher, and continues to add velocity each time we see him.

No. 3 is Michael McAvene, a 6-foot-2 RHP from Roncalli HS.  McAvene attended the Preseason All State Showcase last February where he showcased an 81-84 mph fastball with an easy arm action.  His frame is very projectable, and should continue to see an increase in velocity as he matures.

Seth Tollison is currently ranked No. 4.  The 5-foot-11 inch RHP attended last February’s Preseason All State Showcase and was 79-82 mph on the mound.

Another Preseason All State Showcase attendee, Janzen Bloom, earned the No. 5 ranking.  Bloom, who has been injured most of the year, was 83-85 from the right side, sitting mostly 85.  Bloom is a power pitcher with a heavy fastball.

Kody Hoese is the highest ranked SS on the list at No. 6.  Hoese possesses a projectable frame at 6-foot-2, 150 pounds.  The SS is solid up the middle with good actions and is a threat at the plate.  Hoese participated in June’s Top Prospect Games at I.U.

Rounding out the Top 10 is Justin Jenkins (OF, Terre Haute South), Cal Krueger (MIF, Jasper), Matt Moore (LHP, Avon), and Connor Manous (RHP, Munster).
