Uncommitted Arms in Indiana's 2023 Class

Cooper Trinkle
PBR Indiana

As we are gearing up for the 2023 spring season, we still have plenty of talented seniors who have yet to make their college commitment. Today, we highlight ten uncommitted arms from Indiana’s 2023 class.

Will Boyer, RHP, Columbus East
6/30/2022 - Stocky, 5-foot-10 frame. Good tempo throughout the delivery, taller balance point, with a slight inward turn. Sat 83-85 with his fastball, touching 86 mph. CB sat 70-72 mph with 11/5 shape. CH sat 74-75 mph with fade. Good feel for command, especially with the breaking ball.

Landon Carlisle, RHP, Franklin Central
6/9/2022 - Long, projectable 6-foot-5, 180 pounder. High ¾ arm slot with above average pitchability. Fastball sits 79-83, touching 84 mph. Curveball sits 69-72 mph with 11/5 shape. Will flash a changeup at 79-80 mph.

Evan Cooke, RHP/INF, West Lafayette
6/21/22 – Uncommitted 2023 with a physical 6-foot-4, 215 pound frame. Cooke attacks hitters from a long, over-the-top arm slot and possesses a solid FB/SL combo. Moves down the mound with intent. FB sits 85-87 T 88 mph with late sink. The slider shows sweeping action at 74-76 mph. More velocity in the tank.

Cale Coursey, RHP, Crawfordsville
7/3/2022 - Athletic, 6-foot-2, 185 pound frame. Good arm speed with a compacted arm action. FB sat 83-85 mph while touching 86 mph. Lots of feel for a tight, 70-72 mph curveball with 11/5 shape.

Griffen Haas, LHP/OF, Hamilton Southeastern
3/5/2022 - 6-foot, 215 pound strong frame. Strong balance point with over the top arm angle. Command of the FB to both sides of the plate with movement. FB sat 85-86 mph while touching 87. CB had 11/5 shape at 69-70 mph. CH sat 75-76 mph with armside command. Shows promise as a two-way prospect. Solid LHH OF with an exit velocity of 95 mph.

Ricky Howell, RHP, Pendleton Heights
6/30/2022 - Howell had a strong summer where he showed improvements in his fastball velocity. The athletic, 6-foot-1, 180 pounder has an advanced fastball at 87-91 touching 92 mph from his high ¾ arm slot. The fastball has some run to the armside and he tunneled a tight, 72-76 mph breaking ball off of it. While he does have some inconsistencies with his command, when everything syncs up his stuff is electric. Developing changeup at 76-77.

Jacob Murphy, RHP, Center Grove
7/2/2022 – Stocky, 5-foot-7 right-hander that has been up to 90 mph on his fastball. Murphy has a quick, compact arm action from an over-the-top arm slot. Quick tempo delivery. Murphy will sit at 84-88 mph with his fastball and has plenty of feel for a sharp, slurvey breaking ball at 73-76 mph. Showed the ability to command a sinking changeup at 77-78.

Mitchell Renfro, RHP, Evansville North
6/24/2022 - Wiry, athletic 6-foot, 160 pounder. Easy effort delivery with good arm speed from a ¾ arm slot. Fastball sits 82-85 mph with good armside run. Reports of Renfro climbing into the upper-80s this offseason. Plenty of feel for a short, tight slider at 76-79 mph.

Connor Sims, RHP/OF, Greenfield Central
7/3/2022 - 6-foot-3, 190 pounder with strength and athleticism. Up tempo delivery with good arm strength from a loose, high ¾ slot. Sims has been up to 89 mph on his fastball, sitting in the mid-to-upper 80s. Shows some feel for a 72-74 mph slider.

Nico Walters, RHP, Bloomington South
7/1/2022 - 6-foot-2, 203 pound right-hander that can command a four-pitch mix. Walters will sit in the low-to-mid 80s with his fastball, topping out at 85 mph. Very good feel for command. Walters offers three distinct breaking balls - a big, 11/5 curveball at 67-72 mph, a sharper, 74-77 mph slider, and a short, tight 78-80 mph cutter. Likes to pitch backwards and get ahead with offspeed, allowing his fastball to play up late in counts.
