Scouting Report

7/18/17: 60 Time: 7.63, Position Velocity: OF-89, Exit Velocity: L-75, R-83. 6-foot-4, 190 pound senior showcased a big arm from the outfield and topped out at 85 on the bump. The switch hitter is more advanced from the right side of the plate, uses a big leg lift to load and separate from both sides. Hands get buried below the armpit on the way to contact, working uphill to lift, short out of the zone. Front foot has tendency to dive from the left side and lands narrow. Has more separation in the swing and more in the lower half/hips to generate some pull side power with the frame. More bat speed from the right side, barrel and hands get in a stronger position. Weight has tendency to drift onto the front side, collapse at contact. Barrel works in a better path through extension, still more pop from the right side with stronger lower half and staying behind the baseball. Fast arm from the outfield with plus arm strength and carry. Lacks foot speed and agility in the outfield, but makes up for it with the big arm. Tall, narrow stance to throw, with clean arm swing. On the mound, fastball sat 81-84, topping out at 85, creating downhill tilt from the big frame. Loose, fast arm, works in a clean arm swing and has high ¾ release. Arm works, more to gain in the lower half working down the mound with more strength and flexibility. Fastball stayed down at the knees, missing glove side at times. Curveball still needs developed, loose grip, backs up out of hand and stays armside, thrown at 71-74. Changeup was 68-70, showed to be plus pitch with sink, can still be thrown with more arm speed.
