Zack Brown, Seymour HS, commits to Kentucky

PBR: What were your final stats for Seymour?

Brown: .344 BA, 32 hits, 6 doubles, 2 triples, 20 RBI's, 25 runs, 8 BB's and pitching: 4-2, 3 saves, 38 IP, 61 K, 1.66 ERA, .174 OBA

PBR: Why did you choose Kentucky?

Brown: I immediately connected with the coaches and I really love the campus. It was everything I was looking for.

PBR: What other schools were you considering?

Brown: Louisville, Cincinnati, Western Michigan, Butler, and Xavier

PBR: Where did Kentucky first see you compete?

Brown: At the Area Code Tryout at Pendelton Heights.

PBR: What role do the coaches expect you to play during your first year on campus?

Brown: They expect me to come in and develop as a player, mainly as a pitcher, to ultimately help out the pitching staff.

PBR: What is your biggest strength as a player and how do you feel that will help Kentucky?

Brown: I feel that my biggest strength is my pitching. I feel that I will compliment the pitching staff at UK very well, as they have set a precedent for the years to come.

PBR: Who has had the biggest impact on you as a baseball player?

Brown: All of my coaches I've had throughout my years of travel baseball and my 3 years at high school. My high school coach has done a tremendous job on preparing and making me to become a Division I athlete, from contacting colleges to pushing me to get better every day.

PBR: You played for team Indiana last summer in the Under Armour Midwest Futures Games, talk about that experience.

Brown: It was a great time. I met other top players throughout the state and competed against other great players in the Midwest. It was a big starting point in my recruiting process. Before the Future Games I had no previous contact with colleges, but afterwards it started to pick up. The event provided me with the collegiate exposure I needed.

PBR: Who is the toughest pitcher/hitter you have faced in Indiana?

Brown: Pitcher: Josh Rogers, Hitter: Drew Ellis
