PBR Unsigned Senior Showcase Results



 The Prep Baseball Report Unsigned Senior Showcase on Oct. 16 at the Round Tripper Sports Academy featured some impressive players in the 2012 class.  A look at the top players at the event:

 

1.  Josh Caccamo, OF, Homestead HS, 2012:  Caccamo is a 6-foot-1 inch, 175 pound OF that throws and hits from the left side.  Caccamo shows plus speed running a 6.66 sixty, an event best.  In the OF he possesses good range and strong arm at 83-84 mph.  At the plate he shows an upright stance that is slightly open with good bat speed.  He gets to extension well and shows good pop to the right side.  He should hit for average at the next level.

 

2.  Evan Mohr, 3B/RHP, Lapel HS, 2012:  Mohr is a 6-foot-4 inch, 215 pound third baseman with a projectable frame and strong build.  In the field he shows good fielding mechanics and strong arm across the diamond at 81-83 mph.   On the mound he is a consistent 80-84 with his fastball from a ¾ arm slot .  He shows a curveball at 62-65 mph with good movement and a 67-71 mph slider.  His changeup ranges from 68-72 mph.  At the plate he shows good pop to the left side and up the middle.  He is a true pull hitter.

 

3.  Donnie Waters, 3B, Franklin HS, 2012:  Waters is a 6-foot-1 inch, 195 pound 3B that hits from the left side.  He possesses good athleticism both in the field and at the plate.  Hitting from the left side, he shows a wide stance with a good load.  He possesses good power especially to the right side, and gets to extension well, with good bat speed.

 

4.  Jordan Heck, 1B, Tell City HS, 2012:  Heck is a 6-foot-1 inch, 180 pound 1B.  He shows good actions at first base and is 71-76 mph across the diamond.  His strength is at the plate where he shows a wide stance with a good swing plane.  He shows the ability spray line drives to all fields with some pop.  Heck should hit for average at the next level.  At the showcase he posted a 7.26 sixty time. 

 

5.  Connor Parkison, OF/RHP, Lawrence North HS, 2012:  Parkison is a 6-foot-3 inch, 175 pound OF/RHP.  He has an athletic build with long arms and legs.  From the OF he shows a strong, accurate arm with good carry at 82-86 mph.  On the mound his mechanics still need refined, but shows good projectablity.  From a high ¾ arm slot he shows a heavy 80-84 mph fastball, topping out at 85. He throws two off speed pitches; a breaking ball at 68-71 mph and a 74-76 mph changeup.  With improved mechanics expect a jump in velocity on his fastball. Parkison also shows good speed, running a 7.08 sixty. 

 

6.  Daniel Marlow, SS/RHP, Terre Haute South HS, 2012:  Marlow is a 6-foot-2 inch, 180 pound short stop with an athletic build.  He shows the ability to pick it well and has good range.  At the plate he hits from the left side displaying an open stance with good balance.  Marlow shows an uphill swing plane that produces good pop to the right side. 

 

7.  Grant Kistler, OF/RHP, Hamilton Southeastern HS, 2012:  Kistler is a 6-foot-1 inch, 175 pound OF/RHP.  In the OF he shows some athleticism and range with a good arm at 80-84 mph.  On the mound his fastball is consistently 78-82 mph.  He shows the ability to throw a plus breaking ball at 65-66 mph, along with a 75 mph changeup.  At the plate he’s athletic with a good load and swing plane.  He’s a high average hitter with good pop to left and up the middle. 

 

8.  Tyler Beck, OF/MIF/RHP, Greenwood HS, 2012:  Beck is a 6-foot-2 inch, 182 pound OF/MIF/RHP from Greenwood HS.  On the mound he shows a fastball at 80-81 mph, touching 83. He throws two off speed pitches; a 71-76 mph breaking ball and a 70-75 mph changeup.  At the plate his shows an uphill swing plane, and is best when he takes the ball up the middle and to the left side, producing line drives.

 

9.  Austin Elder, RHP, Decatur Central HS: Elder is a 6-foot-2 inch, 170 pound RHP.  On the mound he shows a consistent 79-81 mph fastball, topping out at 83 mph.  Elder throws two off speed pitches for a strike; a 67-70 mph breaking ball and 70-73 mph changeup.  He runs a 7.19 sixty.  Elder was Decatur Central’s #1 for the 2011 season.

 

10.  Mitchell James, OF, South Dearborn HS, 2012: James is a 5-foot-10 inch, 175 pound OF with good arm strength at 80-83 mph.  At the plate he shows a strong base with some pop. James shows good bat speed and the ability to hit to all fields.

 

Justin Rink, OF/RHP, John Adams HS, 2012:  Rink is a 6-foot-2 inch, 190 pound OF/RHP.  From the outfield he is 78-81 mph.  On the mound his fastball is consistently in the low 80’s and throws two off speed pitches; a 71-74 mph breaking ball and 70-75 mph.  At the plate he shows an open stance with good bat speed.  When getting to extension he shows some pop up the middle and to left. 

 

Aaron Glatt, RHP, Lake Central HS, 2013:  Glatt is a 6-foot-2 inch, 180 pound junior RHP.  He possesses a projectable frame with a strong lower half.  From a high ¾ arm slot his fastball is 79-80 mph.  He shows a 67-70 mph breaking ball with good movement.  He shows some arm side on 70-71 mph changeup.

 

Taylor Scott, OF/RHP, Whiteland HS, 2012: Scott is a 6-foot-1 inch, 175 pound OF/RHP.  He shows good speed running a 7.13 sixty allowing him to cover a lot of ground in the OF.  From the OF he is 79-81 mph.  On the mound his fastball is consistently in the high 70’s, topping out at 80 mph.  He shows two off speed pitches; a 64-66 mph breaking ball, and 67-69 mph changeup.  Scott ran a 7.13 sixty.

 

Heath Reynolds, C, Wapahani HS, 2012:  Reynolds is a 6-foot, 210 pound big bodied catcher.  Behind the plate he shows a consistent pop time in the 2.20 range.  His biggest strength is at the plate where he shows a wide base and good swing plane.  Reynolds gets to extension well and shows good pop to all fields.  The ball jumps off his bat giving him the ability to hit the gaps. 

 

Alex Hostetler, MIF, Penn HS, 2012:  Hostetler is a 5-foot-6 inch MIF that hits from the left side.  In the field he shows good defensive actions and is 71-75 across the diamond.  At the plate he shows a balanced swing with good bat speed.  He’s a high academic prospect.

 

Austin Pittman, C/IF, Triton Central HS, 2012:  Pittman is a 6-foot, 155 pound C/IF.  In the field he projects as a 2B and is 73-74 mph across the diamond.  Behind the plate he is a consistently in the 2.10-2.14 range with his pop time. 

 

Tim Sauer, RHP, Bishop Chatard HS, 2012:  Sauer is a 6-foot, 170 pound right handed submarine pitcher with good sink action.  His fastball ranges from 64-69 mph.  He throws a changeup at 55-57 mph. 

 

Roger Smith Jr., MIF, Andrean HS, 2012:  Smith is a 5-foot-7 inch, 140 pound MIF with quick hands and a good range.  Smith is 65-70 across the diamond.  At the plate he possess quick hands and good swing plane.  He’s contact hitter with good balance.  Smith runs a 7.25 sixty.

 

Dalton Lemert, MIF, Elkhart Christian Academy, 2012:  Lemert is a 5-foot-8 inch, 148 pound MIF.  Across the diamond he is 66-67 mph, and runs a 7.20 sixty.

 

Taylor Rich, OF/RHP, East Noble HS, 2012:  Rich is a 6-foot, 185 pound OF/RHP.  From the outfield he is 68-71 mph.  On the mound his fastball ranges from 72-73 mph, along with a 61-63 mph breaking ball and 68-71 mph changeup.

 

Aaron Grisel, 2B, Pike HS, 2012: Grisel is a 6-foot, 155 pound 2B.  Across the diamond he is 70-74 mph. 

 

Pat Arvin, MIF, Washington HS, 2012:  Arivin is a 6-foot, 190 pound MIF from Washington HS. Across the diamond he is 72-73 mph.

 

Jaylen Hyde, IF, Washington HS, 2012:  Hyde is a 6-foot-2 inch, 250 pound IF that projects as a first baseman.  He runs a 7.49 sixty, and displays some pop to the opposite field.
