Preseason All-State: Underclass Arms

Cooper Trinkle
Scouting Director

The Underclass All-State, year in & year out, always provides a group of arms that breakout in major ways. As a product of these prospects growing and maturing at different rates - we tend to see late-bloomers begin to blossom as they near their sophomore spring. This year was not different and featured so much talent that we were able to jam-pack forty-two prospects to begin to become familiar with into one spot.

The breakouts are highlighted first, '27 arms that showcased big jumps at the All-State and leaped into a higher tier of prospect status. Our standouts are highlighted next, top-ranked arms for division one programs to become familiar with, that we have history on in order to make that statement. Next, five more standouts that will continue to see their name rise on our list. Finally, we included twenty-four high follows that caught our attention for various reasons. Stay tuned for a similar article with a 'cheat sheet' for recruiters on the top '27 hitters from this event.

Breakouts

Event winners...

Bo Blondi RHP / SS / Cathedral HS, IN / 2027

+ Frame: Young-looking, 6-foot, 155 pounder.

+ Delivery/Arm Action: Up-tempo, control to tall lift w slight inward turn. Hips work, creates quality hip-to-shoulder w square landing & dynamic balance in the finish. Shoulders remain in-line throughout, arm works loose & gets to a full-circle. Abv avg arm speed to OTT slot. Love the operation.

+ Stuff: 85.5-87 fastball T 88 - abv avg carry 16.4" IVB on average, 6'3" extension. 72-74 CB w two-plane shape (9" sweep, 9" depth) averaged 2139 rpm. 74-76 slider was better of two breaking balls, flatter break, 2206 rpm avg. Straight change at 77-79 can go to both sides. Showed present feel for all.

+ Summation: Blondi was awesome at this event showing big jumps with a body that is still maturing. There is just a lot to like here: the delivery is efficient & athletic, the arm works clean, there is shape to the pitches, he commands the baseball, he's a switch-hitter w smooth actions on the dirt, shows multiple arm slots across the diamond, & he's a high-character, A+ makeup type kid you like to bet on. The stuff has ticked into the above average range & I think there is more in the tank as he continues to mature.

Grady Grant SS / RHP / Center Grove , IN / 2027

+ Frame: Wiry, athletic, 5-foot-11, 175 pound frame.

+ Delivery/Arm Action: Simple, athletic mover works in-line & lands square. Repeatable. Loose, athletic arm works to a high 3/4 slot.

+ Stuff: 84-86 fastball touched 87, flashes carry w up to 21" IVB & 2399 rpm max. Averaged 15.6" IVB & 2315 rpm. Showed two breaking ball that were amongst the best at the event. 69-73 CB w big sweep & depth averaged 2676 rpm & into 2700s. 72-75 slider played with true sweep and averaged 2662 rpm. 78-80 change plays with arm-side life. Shows feel for all.

+ Summation: Grady has made big jumps, another late-bloomer growing into his actions. He doubles as a slick-fielding, left-handed hitting SS and there is true two-way potential here. The fastball has elevated into an above average offering for the class, but the feel to spin is the separator here & the SL + CB are two of the better in the class. He has the athleticism and body control that you'd expect of a standout SS & the frame still has an immature look to it allowing further projections.

Zachary Bartle Jr RHP / 3B / Indian Creek Sr High School, IN / 2027

+ Frame: Projectable, 6-foot-3, 180 pounder.

+ Delivery/Arm Action: Raw, linear operation lacks repeatability. Really gets down the mound, in-line mostly, lands square. Loose, full-circle arm action w big FB arm speed. Funky slot works from low 3/4 to 3/4.

+ Stuff: Power sinker traits to 89-91 FB that touched 92. Comes out the hand w life averaged 16" arm-side with 10" vert & 2011 avg. spin. Showed fringe average control for the FB. 75-76 rolling slider & 76-80 change are in development stages, arm speed slows.

+ Summation: Bartle established his presence in my first look on him w the 2nd best fastball at the event. It is a raw, natural operation, but the arm really works and the fastball really comes out. There is room for growth in the frame that likely plays the velos even higher. The ceiling is huge here as he polishes, & this is a super intriguing arm in total. The secondaries and overall control need refined, but if they do - & strength is added - this could really come together.

Aden Baggett LHP / OF / North High School, IN / 2027

+ Frame: Athletic, wiry, 6-foot-2, 175 pound frame.

+ Delivery/Arm Action: Simple, stretch-only mover posts w back leg in lift w abv avg hip2shoulder created as he moves down the hill. Shorter stride lands square w upright finish. Loose, shorter arm path with athletic, slingy arm action to low 3/4 deceptive slot.

+ Stuff: 83-87 fastball ran up to 88, played with heavy arm-side life, 14.6" avg ASR at 2404 avg. spin. Softer, sweeper breaking ball plays at 67-70 mph w 2388 rpm avg., upside if thrown firmer. 74-76 change w flatter break, 69-70 split gets more depth. Avg to abv control.

+ Summation: Baggett established himself as one of the premier lefties in this class with a high-upside, natural look. He is athletic with a loose arm & he spins the baseball well, combine that with being left-handed, and it becomes a profile that is at a premium. The fastball continues to tick with more left in the tank & the breaking ball has out-pitch upside. He doubles as a sweet swinging left-handed hitter with some strength.

Chase Gothrup RHP / 3B / William Henry Harrison High School, IN / 2027

+ Frame: Projectable, wiry, 6-foot-1, 175 pound frame.

+ Delivery/Arm Action: Balanced w consistent tempo throughout athletic delivery. Repeats well. Loose, clean arm flips up in-sync w solid arm speed. High 3/4 slot.

+ Stuff: 84-86 FB w abv avg carry 16" avg & some life w 21-2200 spin. 74-75 slider was one the best at the event, played w true sweep & 2608 avg rpm. 78-79 straight CH. Very solid command ITZ w fastball at 70% & SL @ 60%.

+ Summation: This was another prospect that I got my first look at during the PAS weekend. I love the repeatability & athleticism in the operation and the fastball comes out w life and control. The slider has future-plus upside w sharp, late spin. The ease of operation screams future starter, especially combined with the other traits present.

Bryton Gregg RHP / SS / Greencastle High School, IN / 2027

+ Frame: Abv avg athlete, 5-foot-11, 165 pounder.

+ Delivery/Arm Action: Consistent pace throughout athletic delivery. Gets to quick, even lift w in-line shoulders & makes a dynamic move down the slope to get 7-foot fastball extension. Moderate length to the arm path w abv avg arm speed. Small inversion flips up in-sync.

+ Stuff: 86-87 FB T 88 & played up w extension. 71-73 CB & 73-75 SL run together w similiar properties, play at an abv avg clip. At least an avg change in his arsenal, was not shown at this event. Very good control for all pitches.

+ Summation: Gregg is building a reputation as one of the better strike-throwers in the class w statistics & multiple opinions to back that. The stuff is beginning to play higher with louder fastball velocities to play with established feel for spin. This was my first look on him in a while & I was impressed with how he's trended as an athlete. He had a ton of success for Greencastle as a freshman and his progress will be monitored closely in his sophomore campaign for the Tiger Cubs, and into the summer on the circuit, as well.

Nick Winters LHP / Indian Creek Sr High School, IN / 2027

+ Frame: Longer-limbed, 6-foot, 180 pound frame.

+ Delivery/Arm Action: Simple lift w dynamic, linear move gets big extension. Longer arm action w small stab on the backside (has improved), accelerates to an OTT look.

+ Stuff: 84-85 FB T 86 w big carry - 18.6" IVB avg & up to 22.1" IVB. Vert combined w extension and abv avg velocity plays this pitch up big time. 69-71 CB avg. 2199 rpm w shorter, two-plane break & is an avg pitch. 77-79 SL has upside w flatter break. Both are usable. 77-79 CH is best secondary & is sold w fastball arm speed.

+ Summation: Winters has taken a big jump, physically and w his stuff, since my last look on him at the end of the summer. The arm path has lengthened and he's keeping the ball moving better. The arm speed has taken a tick and the carry fastball will likely play above barrels this season & moving forward. There is feel for the change w two average breaking balls, giving Winters four usable pitches.

Charlie Herr RHP / SS / Homestead Senior High School, IN / 2027

+ Frame: High-upside, 6-foot-3, 165 pound frame. Athletic, has upside as left-side infielder, 7.00 60 w 26.1" vertical leap.

+ Delivery/Arm Action: Shorter, athletic lift followed by slight drop&drive. Lands square, tends to spin off, should clean up w strength. Loose, full-circle arm works w abv avg arm speed to 3/4 slot w below-moderate length to the path.

+ Stuff: 83-86 FB w arm-side life spun between 22-2400. Sharp slider is best pitch w wipeout upside - plays at 70-72 w big sweep, minimal vert, and 24-2600 spin. Change is an abv avg pitch playing w fade at 73-74 w 1785 avg rpm. Showed abv avg control of OS & avg control of FB.

+ Summation: My first evaluation on Herr as a P was a great look & I am super bullish on the projectable righty out of Fort Wayne coming out of this event. The frame has tons of room to pack on strength that should play the velocities into the 90+ range at some point, while likely cleaning up the occasional directional issues that led to fastball misses arm-side. There is a chance for two future-plus off-speed offerings & the frame + athleticism leave starters' tabs open. Herr is a priority follow w a chance to polish into a higher-end arm.

Standout⭐

Top-ranked arms that did not disappoint

+ The top two ranked arms in the class were in attendance and they brought two very different, but memorable, performances. First, RHP Gavin Markus (Greenfield-Central) dazzled with a starters' look & filled the zone. His 85-87 fastball can be carried, or manipulated to create arm-side sink. His 76-78 curveball works off the 4S fastball and plays w shorter, tight, two-plane shape. The slider is his best pitch presently, spinning at 75-76 w sweep & wipeout potential. His 77-80 mph change is sold w fastball intent and falls off the table late. Markus is uber-athletic with a 6-foot-3, 180 pound frame to bet on. He reminds me in several ways of Aiden Smith, a 2026 grad commited to Kentucky.

The No. 1 ranked arm in the class, RHP Cole Cheatham (Union County) brought a loud look to the All-State with a 92-94 mph heavy fastball that plays with ride (18.6" IVB, 2308 avg rpm). There is a sinker developing at 89-91, along with developing 86-90 change, and a cutter at 81-83 w sharp side-to-side break. His best pitch on this day was his low-80s CB that works top-down w occasional bite. The pure velocities for the age are well-advanced, as is the massive, 6-foot-3, 235 pound frame, and he took the hill at this event still only 15 years old. There is effort present with fringy control, but the makeup is really solid here & a trait to bet on. Cheatham has a chance to polish into one of the premier arms in the 2027 class nationally w some of the best raw arm strength already present.

+ Two projectable righties that we have up near the top of the class, Mason Gomez (Franklin Community) and Carson Cauley (Pendleton Heights), performed well and are trending in the direction in which we have projected. Gomez is a premier athlete with a lengthy 6-foot-5, 200 pound frame. He is really athletic for his size evident in the present body control that he showed throughout a strike-filled 'pen. The fastball played at 87-89 with carry (18" IVB avg) and above-average extension from a steeper OTT look. He showed solid fastball control while spinning a tight (25-2681) slurvey, 75-77 breaking ball that gets gloveside depth & holds real out-pitch potential. He killed spin on an 80-82 change w flatter arm-side break. The delivery works in a tilt-and-topple fashion and he tucks the front-side to create leveraged arm speed to an OTT slot.

Cauley was a push for us in the fall after showing a big ceiling look. He continued to trend in the right direction at the PAS with a lean frame that oozes projection. He toes the rubber at 6-foot-6 and 180 pounds with tons of room to add strength. He shows feel for spin with some manipulation between a CB & SL that work tight & in the low-to-mid 70s. The SL plays w more sweep while the CB gets similiar sweep and more depth. The fastball plays at 86-87 with some life and he is developing a 77-79 change. Cauley syncs best from the stretch w fringy control in total, though the upside here is massive as he polishes and adds strength to fill out his frame.

+ The top-ranked lefty in the class, LHP Davis Moore (Zionsville), led off the day with an awesome look. Lefties that can spin the baseball are at a premium, which is why I am so bullish on Davis. He executed three well-shaped pitches for strikes with a loose arm that gets to a 3/4 slot w deception and quick arm speed. He's a dynamic mover armed with an 82-84 fastball that gets big arm-side run and occasional carry from the lower slot. His slider gets true sweep with out-pitch upside spinning in the 22-2300 range at 70-73, and tunnels off the heater. The change tunnels, as well, with late fade at 73-75. Moore has a wiry, projectable, 6-foot, 160 pound frame that has a chance to pack on strength and elevate an already abv avg three-pitch mix.

📈

Five more highly ranked arms to highlight that will see their names rise in our next update after big performances.

+ LHP Riley Ackerman (Crown Point) is one of the premier lefties in the class with a projectable, 6-foot-2, 175 pound frame. He is a simple, in-line mover w a short arm circle & small stab on the backside as he slings to a 3/4 slot. He sat 84-85 T 86 on a lower slot fastball that he showed control of. The slider is a future out-pitch w 2300 spin & 14-plus inches of sweep at 73-75. He rounded out a potential starters' mix w a 78-80 change that sinks. In total, he showed above average feel for all & is a priority follow moving forward.

+ Two arms with 90-plus mph fastballs walked away as winners in RHP Logan Robe (Westfield) and RHP Brady Keck (Fort Wayne Snider). Robe showed a +7 mph tick from his appearance at the Underclass Games last summer, now armed with an 89-91 mph 4S that he shows fringy feel for, w some ability to sink it at 88-89. His upper-70s slider flashes some bite but was inconsistent in total, while he showed his best feel for a low-80s change that played w sink. The arm is really quick with upside in the big, physical 6-foot-2, 215 pound frame. Keck has consistently shown one of the strongest arms in the class since our earliest evals on this group, and his overall feel has taken a step up since last summers' appearance at the Top Prospect Games North, along with a slight tick up in velocity to now reach into the 90s on his best bullet. The delivery still has some levers flying around but the arm gets deep into scap retraction allowing it time to pick up speed as it gets to an OTT slot. The fastball came out at 87-90 with occasional arm-side run. His slider is loose with big, slurvey shape at 72-75, and he showed feel to land it. The change is developing at 75-78. He profiles as a back-end bullpen arm w big arm strength and two usable, avg to better pitches present.

+ A pair of arms that have progressed as we have hoped and should see a slight bump include RHP Sam Flickinger (Westfield) & RHP Sam Tokar (Yorktown). There is athleticism w projection left in Flickinger's 6-foot, 180 pound frame. He creates quality hip-to-shoulder w a long, loose arm following to a 3/4 slot w easy intent throughout. His 4S fastball worked at 87-88 w abv avg carry 16.4" avg & he showed true sinker properties on a 2S at 85-86. The slider has short bullet shape with tight spin (2438 avg rmp) at 79-81 w an upper-70s, sinking change being his best OS pitch at the moment. Strength gains will pay dividends here along w adding some shape to the breaking ball, and he commands the baseball at an average clip. Tokar is one of my favorite movers in the class with a quick, clean arm to pair & I will go ahead and throw a 'pick-to-click' stamp on him. The frame has progressed into a to-be physical, 6-foot-3, 190 pounds with strength added since my last looks. He creates plus extension w a dynamic, drop&drive move that plays his 85-87 fastball even higher. The fastball features occasional sink & he tunnels a firm, above average slider off of it at 77-79. The firm slider w sweeper shape is an indicator of future velocity, as is the fact that he won't turn 16 until June, one of the youngest arms on this list. Tokar does show some feel to fade a 78-81 change to the arm-side to show three usable pitches. The overall feel for command grades out at an average clip for now, but the upside in the frame & the mover is what I like best here.

High Follows

*video embedded into players' name if not shown*

- Destin Billings, RHP/SS, Washington Township : Smaller frame at 5-foot-10, 170 lbs, but the arm really works. Some of the best arm action at the event with a loose, full-circle sling to a low 3/4 slot. He gets really solid hip-to-shoulder separation within the delivery to allow for loose sling with a free arm working quick. He showed a 85-87 fastball that played with big sink to his arm-side, with a tight, shorter, side-to-side slider tunneling at 73-74. He also has a heavily faded 77-78 change. He filled the zone with all showing very solid control.

- Luke Bryant, RHP, Carmel : Bryant has taken big strides on the mound as well as growing into his high-waisted, 6-foot-1, 185 pound frame. He gets down the mound well to produce above average to better extension to play up a 85-86 fastball that touched 87 with more in the tank. The slider is a softer sweeper at 68-71 for now, and he also showed a change in the mid-70s. He gets down the mound in a drop-and-drive fashion with a loose, inverted, quick arm following to a high 3/4 slot that comes from a lower release height.

- Landon Campbell, RHP, Westfield : Physical, 6-foot-2, 200 pound frame. Gets to a tall, inward turn with a rotational move out of it, swings to even and lands w open front toe. Moderate length to the arm action w small stab on the backside, present arm strength produced an 84-86 fastball that touched 87. Best pitch is his 75-77 slider that spun at 2400+ with late bite flashing. The curveball played at 74-76 with some depth and he lacked feel for a 78-80 change.

- Lucas Collins, RHP, Garrett : Lanky, 6-foot, 180 pounder. Repeats best from the stretch with simple delivery. Arm is really intriguing - short, loose sling to a low 3/4 slot produced an 86-88 fastball that touched 89 and played with heavy arm-side life. The slider is thrown firm in the 75-77 range with sharper sweep at times, and he showed a firm sinking change at 80-83. The slot is super intriguing along with the present stuff to go with it, though he lacked feel at times in this look.

- Austin Conley, RHP, Fishers : Wiry, 6-foot, 180 pound southpaw with feel. Simple delivery is repeated well with full arm circle arm action releasing to a higher 3/4 slot. Conley ran his fastball at 80-83 & his changeup paired well with the heater, sold with arm speed, and getting some arm-side action at 73-74. He showed a big, upper-60s curveball with gradual break w some feel to land it. Conley saw varsity time as a freshman for Fishers and hangs his hat on filling the zone with strength gains likely loudening his stuff.

- Jack Davis, RHP/SS, Plainfield : Davis was one of my favorite arms to watch back, standing at 6-foot-2, 170 pounds, with athleticism evident in the way he moves at short, and the 6.96 60-yard dash that he turned in. The delivery is super easy and balanced, and a loose, squeaky-clean arm follows to a 3/4 slot. The fastball is light for now, only playing at 79-82, though he gets arm-side run on it & will likely throw much harder as strength is added. He showed feel for a tight, 70-71 slider, and his 69-71 change. Davis is a follow that likely ticks into the mid-80s sooner-rather-than-later.

- Johann Dierker, LHP, Hamilton Southeastern : Dierker is an intriguing southpaw that stands at a compact, 5-foot-11, 185 pounds. It is a quirky, high-effort delivery with the arm stabbing down out of the takeaway and abruptly changing direction with slingy action to a 3/4 slot. He showed below average command in this look with abv avg carry to an 85-86 heater. The 72-76 curveball is still in the development stages, and he showed a tighter, cutter-like slider at 75-77. He rounded out a 4-pitch mix with a 79-81 change.

- Evan Govert, RHP, Westfield : Govert was one of the better movers at the event, getting exceptional hip-to-shoulder with a loose, quick arm that found the strike-zone consistently. He is young for the class with an athletic, undersized, 5-foot-9, 160 pound frame. He is a stretch-only mover that lands square and finishes balanced as the arm accelerates to a 3/4 slot. The fastball played at 83, consistently, with ride/run properties to set the tunnel for two abv avg secondaries. The slider showed tight (2300s) sweep in the low-70s & he killed spin (1305) on a well-located change w some fade at 75-78. Govert doesn't jump out with big stuff or a projectable frame, but he fills the zone w quality movement patterns, a fast arm, and feel to command three well-shaped pitches.

- Henry Haley, RHP, Cathedral : Haley has taken big jumps since his freshman season, physically, and with his stuff on the mound. He is athletic at 6-foot, 185 pounds with a longer-limbed frame. He pitches with an up-tempo delivery & a long, deep, looser arm that works with some quickness to a 3/4 slot. He pitched at 84-86 T 87 with a 4S fastball and sunk it at 82-84. His curveball is firm with some depth in the upper-70s, but the out-pitch here is the 75-77 change that dives late. He showed above average feel for all.

- Cole Hauck, LHP, Noblesville : Proportional, 5-foot-10, 160 pounder. Simple, in-line delivery, gets down the mound at an above average clip with a loose arm following to a high 3/4 slot w a lower release height. Fastball plays with some arm-side at 82-84 & occasional carry with feel for the heater. The changeup is his best secondary, pulling the string at 71-74 with arm-side fade. The breaking ball pops outta the hand and rolls at 67-70. In total, Hauck is a solid pitch-ability lefty w/ two abv avg pitches for the class and solid control.

- Bryson Hill, RHP, Center Grove : Hill is an upside arm from Center Grove beginning to grow into his projectable frame. He is a 6-foot-2, 155 pound righty with ample room for strength gains that likely louden his present arsenal. He showed above average control for an 81-84 fastball that touched 85, along with a straight change in the mid-70s, and a breaking ball that played with sweep & depth in the upper-60s. Hill threw strikes at an abv avg clip and his physical development will be monitored here on out.

- Connor Kenjic, RHP/INF, Hobart : Athletic, 6-foot, 185 pound frame w body control - also catches. Gradually builds tempo and intent with athletic delivery and loose, quick arm that follows. The arm gets to a full circle and comes out at a high 3/4 slot with an 84-86 fastball. He showed some feel to land a softer, sweeping slider at 67-71 and showed quality fade on a 70-73 change to round out three usable pitches in the arsenal. In total, Kenjic showed above average feel & holds starters' upside.

- Jayden Kieler, RHP, Leo : Big, physical frame at 6-foot-3, 215 pounds - has added strength. Simple, high-intent mover with deep arm action that works uninterrupted. The fastball played at 84-86, touching 87 from a higher slot than his tight, 72-74 mph slider. There is a lot of effort in the operation with best profile now looking as a back-end bullpen piece. Has a chance to throw hard with big upside to the breaking ball. Control seems to be improving, showed average feel in this look.

- Jack Kunas, RHP, Munster : Lanky, projectable, 6-foot-1, 165 pounder, pick to click candidate. Up-tempo, drop & drive delivery w levers flying around, though there is some feel to control and stay in-line, linear operation. Loose, quick arm works to high 3/4 slot w lower release height for the slot given the drop&drive. Fastball works at 83-86 now with strength gains likely boosting those numbers. He got around a softer, upper-60s sweeper that played with bigger shape. The 66-68 curveball works with depth & plays best with the fastball slot, & he rounded out his 4-pitch mix with a 74-76 change that showed some arm-side wiggle.

- Cayden McGrew, LHP, Evansville Reitz : Loose, athletic, 6-foot, 170 pounder that is young for the class. Athletic, up-tempo delivery with longer, loose arm on the backside. Fastball worked at 82-83 with arm-side run & paired well with a 76-78 change that came out with a similiar look. His 72-74 breaking ball is an average pitch for now, though he showed feel to get it in the zone to his glove-side to tunnel with his other two pitches. There is upside in the frame & athleticism with abv avg feel present for all three pitches.

- Jack Nelson, RHP/SS, Franklin Community : Athletic, 5-foot-10, 160 pounder. Used an up-tempo, efficient delivery that lands square and finishes with balance. Loose, quick arm slings to 3/4 slot with abv avg arm speed. I loved the present feel for the zone & quality shape on three pitches. The 84-86 fastball came out with life and spun in the 2400s with some ride & run, setting the tunnel for a very solid changeup that he killed spun on at 78-80 mph with late fade, and an above average slider that played with sweeper shape at 71-73 with some sharpness. Nelson was one of the better movers at the event with feel for a quality three-pitch mix. There is upside in the infield background & younger look - pick to click candidate.

- Franko Ortega, RHP, Columbus North : Wiry, 6-foot, 150 pounder with loose, athletic movement patterns. Up-tempo mover gets to a tall lift & gets down the mound w a shorter stride. Long, loose arm works freely to a 3/4 slot - fastball came out at 84-85 in this look. The ability to spin the baseball is the trait to like most here - there is some feel to manipulate shape but both SL & CB work in the 73-76 range with sharp bite, and spin in the 27-2800 range. The breaking ball is a future wipeout & he showed a change at 71-73 with gradual fade.

- Griffin Snider, RHP, Noblesville: Ultra-projectable, 6-foot-4, 185 pounder. Simple mover w athletic inward turn lift & he uncoils to square with a rotational lower-half. The arm works loose & clean to a 3/4 slot with some sling to the arm action. The slot & present arm speed help to create big arm-side sink on a 85-87 fastball, and his tight (2400+) mid-70s slider pairs well with it. There is a 78-80 mph splitter shown, but it is behind the other two pitches. The frame and arm talent/action are traits to bet on with an advanced two-pitch mix that plays well together.

- Harper Sturtsman, RHP, Manchester : Sturdy, massive, 6-foot-2, 260 pounder w arm strength and present above average control & below-moderate intent. Simple mover w strength in the lower-half, repeats. Fast takeaway as the arm gets to a stab on the backside with slightly uphill shoulders as he tucks the front-side and gets to an OTT slot. The fastball plays with big carry at 85-87 & his top-down 74-75 curveball plays well with it. The changeup plays in the mid-upper-70s & is a fringe average pitch now. There is abv avg control present with two abv avg pitches that allows for starters' upside.

- Aiden Trevino, RHP, Westfield : Undersized, 5-foot-7, 170 pound athletic mover. Simple mover w athletic delivery, creates quality hip-to-shoulder. Short, quick arm produced an 84-86 fastball that touched 87, and he sunk it at 82-84 w big arm-side sink. His slider is short, thrown firm at 77-79. His best secondary was a 78-81 split that dove. In total, Trevino shows solid arm talent for the class and filled the zone w the ability to throw to all quadrants shown.

- Cash Thompson, RHP, Providence : A big winner that showed a +7 mph tick compared to his bullpen at the Ironmen Scout Day just 6 months ago. Thompson is super young for the class, set to graduate at 17, with an immature-looking, high-waisted, 5-foot-11, 150 pound frame. He is a good mover w a dynamic move down the slope. The arm works on a shorter, clean path and gets to a high 3/4 release. The fastball came out at 83-85 & played with solid carry. He spun an abv avg, low-70s curveball to tunnel off the carry heater & his 76-78 change and splitter both played with some tumble. He rounded out a 5-pitch mix with a short cutter at 76-78 that is a slider/cutter hybrid. Thompson is an interesting follow that has made big gains in a short window, with still room for growth.

- Gunner Wade, LHP, Franklin Community : Projectable, 6-foot-2, 160 pound southpaw. Simple, repeatable delivery with high front-side creating a deceptive look as a clean arm works to an over-the-top slot. Fastball plays with carry at 82-83 mph and averaged 18" IVB & got over 20" at times. He showed tons of feel, pouring in strikes with four pitches. His changes is his best secondary, heavily pronating on it as it plays with big arm-side break at 76-77. The feel for spin has gotten better, and he showed some ability to manipulate with a tighter, 71-73 slurve and a true top-down curveball in the upper-60s. In total - this was a positive look with steady gains made since his appearance at the Midwest Super Sophomore Games last August.

- Jaylen Wells-Henderson, RHP, New Albany : Wells-Henderson is an elite athlete that burned a 6.62 60-yard dash to begin the day & is also a standout track star. He stands at a slender, 6-foot-2, 175 pounds. The delivery oozes athleticism with an up-tempo pace & a loose, short arm following to a high 3/4 to 3/4 release point. The fastball played in the low-to-mid 80s (T 85) & he flashed a sinker in the low-80s. His arsenal includes a 73-75 slider with some shape, a 68-70 curveball that plays with depth and gradual break, and a 73-74 cut-change. He showed feel for all in this looks & holds starters' upside.

- Grant Wolf, RHP/OF, Fishers : Strong-framed, 6-foot-1, 195 pounder. Slower tempo to the top of a balanced lift, builds intent throughout, lands w open front toe. Arm action is the trait to like here - long, full-circle arm action w abv avg arm speed produced 83-85 fastball that touched 86 playing w DZ properties. The breaking ball shows manipulation with depth to a 69-72 CB & bigger sweep on a 70-71 SL. The 76-78 change played with 16" of arm-side on average & is an above average pitch for the class. He is strong for the age with a higher ceiling on the bump, though he showed flashes at the dish. There is developing barrel feel as he uncoils a rotational swing with intent & abv avg bat speed - he put 8 of 14 balls in play, averaging 92-plus on balls in play with his peak registering at 97.7 mph, with a 7.00 60-yard dash and 88 OF arm to pair.
