Quick Hits

+ '25 RHP Talan Meyers (Lafayette Jefferson) is an unsigned senior that performed well. He holds a projectable, 6-foot-4, 180 pound frame and played catch in the 82-85 range for strikes. The fastball played with 19-plus inches of vert on average coming from an OTT 6'3' release height, and reached back and pitched at 84-87 when needed. He showed a 70-72 slider that averaged over a feet of sweep and spun in the 23-2500 range. He threw a straight change at 74-75. Meyers is an arm that still has room for growth and could likely make big jumps in his early college years.

+ '26 RHP/INF Zac Wainscott had a very solid all around day. He's a stocky/strong, 6-foot, 192 pound two-way that tossed his bullpen at 84-85. He showcased an 11/5 shaped breaking ball at 71-73 that spun in the 2300s, and a 77-80 change to go with it. Its a stock delivery with shorter arm action that has some whip to its' OTT slot. Offensively, he sets up wide at the dish with a tall back elbow and barrel tipped. He creates above average bat speed in an upward path with exits over 95. Wainscott is an average to better athlete that profiles best at 3B.

+ Four more 2026 to keep tabs on from this event include : '26 LHP Palmer Jones (Yorktown), '26 SS Ethan Lane (Lafayette Jefferson), '26 3B Carson Maskel (Lawrence North), and '26 OF Tanner Griffey (Yorktown). Jones is a projectable, 6-foot-3, 185 pound southpaw with his best days ahead of him. He pitched at 79-81 with some feel and that number likely ticks as strength is added, especially considering his above average athleticism shown with a 7.07 60-yard dash. Jones spun a developing slider in the upper-60s and showed a faded low-70s change. Lane was also up into the low-80s on the bump, but he profiles best on the dirt with solid metrics across the board. Lane is a strong, 6-foot-1, 200 pounder with a short right handed swing that produced exits over 97. The swing is simple with g2g ball flights and some pullside lift. He turned in an above average run time (7.11) and showed some feel on the dirt with an 84 mph arm across.

- Maskel is a solid athlete standing at 6-foot, 175 pounds with a 6.95 60-yard dash. He flashed pull-side power in batting practice with a strong barrel and exits up to 96. He shows above average bat speed with a path that allows for lift, and an athletic move into the baseball. Griffey fits the same mold, a strong athlete standing at 6-foot-2, 190 pounds. Griffey showed a short, on-top swing with ball flight controlled low through the middle with low-90s exit peaking at 93. The swing is geared towards contact and he offers some strength behind it with the days' best bat speed. His 6.91 60-yard dash is an above average time and adds to the offensive profile.

+ A couple sophomores to note were '27 SS Jayden Dorsey (Lawrence Central) and '27 3B Jeriah Self (Cathedral). Dorsey burned the days' best 60 at a 6.81 and carried that athleticism into infield evals with very quick feet and athletic actions in total. The stocky, 5-foot-11, 175 pound right-handed hitter used a simple, rigid load and short stride before a handsy, uphill swing that produced exits in the upper-80s. Self is a stocky, broad-shouldered, 6-foot-1, 215 pound corner infield that performed as one of the days' best in batting practice. Self sets up in a shoulder-width stance before a simple stride is timed with a small hand load. He turned an upward barrel with above average bat speed throughout a round where he hit 7 balls over 90 mph, with his best coming off the barrel at 97-plus.

+ Two freshman stood out amongst the older crowd in '28 OF/RHP Cameron Dixon (Lawrence North) and '28 RHP/OF Chase Hittle (Lafayette Central Catholic). Dixon looked the part of an upperclassman with a lean, athletic, 6-foot-3, 185 pound frame. He burned a 6.93 60-yard dash to begin the day. His batting practice round was inconsistent but everything he put in play was hard, evident in his 89 mph average exit and near 94 mph peak exit. When his moves are synced the bat came through with some electricity but he was inconsistent in his forward move. His arm is also an intriguing tool, into the low-80s from the outfield, and up to 80 on the mound, working loose with slingy arm action.

+ Hittle is more gut-feel with several traits indicative of future success. He caught my attention early in the day with an above average run time for the class (7.20 60), a 6-foot-2, 185 pound frame with upside, and a short, right-handed swing with exits working up to 90 mph. During defensive evals, he showed off an 84 mph arm that translated into the low-80s on the bump. He looked the part of an upside follow on the hill with a big frame, rawer delivery, and arm action that will hold velo gains. The fastball came out of the hand with some life for the age, carrying at 17" of vert on average. His best secondary was his 69-71 splitter and he also showed a developing curveball at the same velocity.
