2024 Puma Classic, Takeaways: Pitchers

On Sep. 13 and 14, the Prep Baseball JUCO Wire staff traveled to Westfield, Ind., home of the state-of-the-art Grand Park complex to, once again, host the annual Puma Classic. This event featured 30 teams with many need-to-know prospects who are capable of contributing at the next level – be it a four-year opportunity or pro ball.
Now, with the event behind us, our staff has compiled a handful of names that impressed our scouts throughout our two-day trip to Indiana. We previously broke down more than 20 standout names from the event, which you can find HERE, and today you'll learn more about several arms who stole the show, with 80-plus pitchers broken down below.
HIGH-FOLLOW SOPHOMORES
- SO. RHP Pedro Pulliam (Southwest Tennessee) worked a 1-2-3 inning during his outing showing feel to locate his fastball to both sides of the plate, working at 90-91 mph in his inning. Pulliam also showed a tight breaking ball that he was able to land in the zone for strikes. The 5-foot-10, 195-pound right-hander’s arm worked quick through release from a longer and stabby arm action.
- SO. RHP Cole Martz (Kankakee) is an athletic right-hander that ran his fastball up to 90 mph, beating some hitters in the zone with the pitch. Martz also spun his breaking ball in the low-80s, locating it in the zone for strikes. The 6-foot, 195-pound pitcher returns as one of the top arm on the staff after working his way in the rotation last year.
- RSO. RHP Seth Broadwell (Kaskaskia) stands at 6-foot-1, 190-pounds with strength to his frame. The right-hander showed two pitches in this look, a upper-80s fastball T88 mph with some feel for the zone and earned swings-and-misses. Broadwell threw a 78-81 mph slider that he spun upwards of 2700 RPMs.
- SO. RHP Andrew Hendrickson (Lincoln Land) is a physical right-hander with long levers that showed well during his outing over the weekend. Showing two pitches that work out of the same window Hendrickson ran his fastball up to 90 mph while sitting mostly 89 with the pitch with spin up to 2500 RPMs. The breaking ball played sharp in the mid-70s with spin rates up to 2700 RPMs.
- SO. RHP Evan Margherita (Lansing) is an imposing 6-foot-7 right-hander that worked through two clean innings on Saturday. His fastball played up to 89 mph sitting in the upper-80s throughout, working both sides of the plate with the pitch. His sharp breaking ball played with big 12/6 action that he threw with confidence.
- SO. RHP Peyton Niksch (Kankakee) is an athletic right-hander with a whippy arm from a lower slot. Niksch showed feel to repeat his delivery, working in synch and getting his arm up on time, showing two pitches, a fastball that got up to 92 mph that he used to attack hitters in the zone. His breaking ball played in the upper-70s to low-80s with 2600+ rpms.
- RSO. RHP Landon Geragosian (Kaskaskia) is a 6-foot-1, 200-pound pitcher that showed feel for spin. His breaking ball sat in the low-80s with spin rates upwards of 2600 RPMs playing with tight two-plane break and was thrown to different parts of the zone. The fastball sat in the mid-80s with spin up to 2400+ RPMs.
- RFR. Ryan Neilson (Southwest Tennessee) showed feel for three pitches working mostly in the zone with all of them. Neilson ran his fastball up to 90 mph with carry at the top of the zone, beating hitters in the zone. The breaking ball played with 12/6 action that was thrown around the zone, Neilson also showed a fading changeup to opposite-handed hitters.
- RFR. Trenton Feucht (McHenry County) is a lean and athletic 6-foot-3 right hander that threw a clean inning over the weekend. Feucht relied on his fastball heavily throughout the inning, as he didn’t throw anything but fastballs during the inning and in warmups. The fastball sat mostly 90, topping out at 91 mph while throwing the pitch downhill.
- SO. RHP Jackson King (McHenry County) stands at 6-foot-4, 215-pounds, tossing two clean innings over the weekend. King is an athlete with feel for his delivery, his arm works continuous with arm speed through release with both pitches working out of the same window. King ran his fastball up to 92 mph showing feel to locate the pitch in the zone to his armside. The breaking ball was thrown in the low-70s with quality downer action that looks like a potential weapon barring an uptick in velocity.
- SO. RHP Kolton Floor (Kankakee) is a 5-foot-10, 195-pound right-hander that worked in the zone with two pitches. Floor ran his fastball up to 87 mph working in the zone, working in a low-80s slider.
- SO. RHP Conner Williar (Rock Valley) is a 6-foot athletic right-hander. Stretch only operation with a whippy arm action from a low ¾ slot. Williar showed a three-pitch mix at the event, working his fastball at 87-89 mph T90 throwing the pitch in the zone often. Williar also tunneled a sharp breaking slider in the low-70s off his fastball, and mixed in a low-80s changeup.
- SO. LHP Ben Carlile (Kankakee) is a strong 6-foot left-hander that returns as one of the top arms for the Cavaliers. Two-pitch mix during his outing, a upper-80s T88 MPH fastball that he threw in the zone and a mid-70s fading changeup.
- SO. RHP Jackson Peeler (Kankakee) was one of the top arms from the weekend, going 1-2-3 in his first inning of the day. The 6-foot-1 right-hander was a high-leverage arm for the Cavaliers in 2024 and showed loud stuff during his outing. Peeler ran his sinking fastball up to 94 mph and beat hitters in the zone with the pitch, he went to a low-80s sweeper that got up to 23 inches of sweep and a 81-83 mph changeup. A clear winner of the day and one of the top prospects that was in attendance.
- SO. RHP Dane Ebel (Lincoln Trail) showed loud stuff during his inning, striking out two of the three hitters he faced. The 6-foot-1 right-hander was ultra efficient during his outing only throwing 13 pitches in his inning. Two pitch mix for Ebel, a carry fastball that reached 91 mph sitting at 90 throughout the inning, his power breaking ball got up to 82 mph and was spun at 2900+ RPMs.
- SO. RHP Pierce Anderson (Kirkwood) is a sturdy 6-foot-2 right-hander with arm strength. Anderson ran his fastball up to 94 mph while sitting 90-92 throughout the inning, getting uncomfortable swings with his fastball and missing the barrel.
- SO. RHP Jacob O’Day (Heartland) is an athletic right-hander that was efficient during his outing. O’Day ran his high spin fastball up to 93 mph and challenged hitters in the zone with the pitch. O’Day went to his swing/miss breaking ball as his go to offspeed pitch that sat 77-79 with up to 19 inches of sweep.
- S0. LHP Ty Thomson (Des Moines Area) potentially having the highest ceiling of all pitchers at the Puma, the 6-foot-5 sophomore showed feel to control his delivery and extend down the mound. During two innings Thomson ran his fastball up to 91 mph getting some swing/miss while showing a 77-79 changeup.
- SO. RHP Ben Kasten (Madison) put together two scoreless innings over the weekend. Kasten ran his fastball up to 90 mph showing feel to use both sides of the plate. Kasten would go to a sharp breaking ball that flashed sharp and earned swing/miss in and out of the zone.
- SO. RHP Blaine Nunnally (Southwest Tennessee) is a strong and athletic 5-foot-10 right-hander that showed three pitches. Nunnally ran his fastball up to 90 mph, with two offspeed offerings that look to produce swing/miss often. The best being a heavy fading changeup that he throws out of the same window, his breaking ball played with tight two-plane break.
- SO. RHP Andrew VanOeveren (Kankakee) is a strong 6-foot right-hander with strength in the lower half. Two pitch mix, an upper-80s fastball that got up to 89 mph showing some feel for the zone. VanOeveren went to a 82-83 mph slider as his go-to offspeed pitch.
- SO. RHP Ryan Oswald (Lincoln Land) is an imposing 6-foot-7 210-pound right-hander with feel to repeat, his arm works quick out of a ¾ slot with his three pitch mix working out of the same window. Oswald ran his fastball up to 89 mph early before settling in around the mid-80s later in the inning. Showing two offspeed pitches in this look a low-70s curveball, and a 78-80 mph changeup.
- SO. RHP Trey Carter (Lincoln Land) is an athletic and lean 5-foot-10 pitcher with three pitches. Carter ran his fastball up to 91 mph while sitting 87-90 with life out of the hand. Carter went to a 78-80 mph breaking ball with sharp breaking and big downer movement on the pitch spinning at 2700+ RPMs, also showed a 75-77 mph changeup.
- RSO. Brayden Stewart (Southwest Tennessee) is a 6-foot-4 right-hander that performed over his two inning stint. The arm is whippy with some of the best arm speed at the event. Stewart ran his fastball up to 90 mph and worked both sides of the plate, mostly armside. His breaking ball played tight while hoping out of his hand.
- RSO. RHP Carter Prochaska (Triton College) is a high waisted 6-foot-2 right-hander with arm talent. Prochaska has a fluid arm with arm speed, with his fastball sitting 89-91 mph throughout his inning.
- SO. RHP Lucas Winburn (Kaskaskia) is a sturdy 6-foot-4, 220-pound workhorse for the Blue Devils. His fastball sat 88-90 mph and was in the zone with the pitch challenging hitters in the zone, Winburn paired his fastball with a upper-70s breaking ball, both pitches were spin north of 2500 RPMs.
- RSO. RHP Cam Saleh (Kaskaskia) is another follow right-hander for the Blue Devils. Showing three pitches in his outing, the 6-foot-2, 210-pound pitcher ran his fastball up to 89 mph sitting in the upper-80s throughout. His two offspeed pitches were thrown hard with the breaking ball sitting 79-83 and the changeup getting up to 83 mph.
- SO RHP Mitchell Schleeper (Jefferson County) is an athletic 6-foot right-hander that showed three pitches throughout his outing. Schleeper ran his fastball up to 88 mph while showing confidence in his breaking ball throwing it often in the zone in the mid-70s missing bats in the zone. The splitter was also thrown in the zone in the upper-70s and earned swings and misses.
- SO. RHP Noah Musolf (Madison) is a 6-foot right-hander for the Wolfpack. During his one inning stint, Musolf pounded the zone with a heavy dosage of fastballs that sat in the upper-80s T89 mph. Musolf has a loose and whippy arm and some feel for his delivery, standing at 6-foot with more room to grow into his frame.
- RFR. LHP Aiden VanDeHatert (Lincoln Trail) is a high-follow arm to come out of the event. The athletic 6-foot-4 left-hander had one of the easier working arms of the event, pitching in the low-90s with his fastball with ease. VanDeHatert showed two offspeed pitches both in the mid-80s that look to be usable offerings down the road.
- SO. RHP Jackson Wohlers (Rock Valley) is a compact right-hander with real feel for spin. Wohlers attacked hitters in the zone with his breaking ball often, sitting 76-77 mph with spin at 2500-2600 RPMs and sharp two-plane break. The fastball got up to 89 mph, sitting in the upper-80s throughout.
- SO. RHP Peter Underwood (Jefferson County) tossed a clean inning over the weekend. The 6-foot right-hander got multiple swing/miss with his sharp 76-77 mph slider that consistently spun around 2500 RPMs. The fastball sat 86-88 mph with run and showed feel for the zone.
- SO. RHP Coleman Morrison (Jefferson County) is a power armed 6-foot-5 right hander for Jefferson County. Mostly fastballs during his lone inning, Morrison got up to 94 mph working north/south with his heater. Morrison flipped in a 12/6 breaking ball as his go-to offspeed pitch.
- SO. RHP Mason Robinson (Kaskaskia) is a strong and athletic 6-foot-3, 195-pound right-hander. Three pitches in this look, Robinson challenged hitters with his fastball that sat in the upper-80s reaching into the low-90s. Robinson showed a mid-80s sinker and a upper-70s to low-80s breaking ball that spun north of 2400 RPMs.
- SO. RHP Pierce Herrenbruck (Rend Lake) was the biggest winner of the weekend. Herrenbruck returns after tossing over 50 innings as a freshman with a 2.48 ERA. Now a sophomore with louder stuff than last year, Herrenbruck ran his fastball up to 94 mph, sitting in the low-90s throughout. Herrenbruck went to a low-80s breaking ball that flashed sharp two-plane break and a low-80s splitter. While the results were inconsistent, Herrenbruck is a must-know name from the event.
- SO. RHP Michael Boyce (Parkland) is a strong 6-foot-3 right-hander with loud stuff. Boyce showed confidence in his sharp breaking ball that got multiple swing/miss throughout the inning. The fastball got up to 92 mph with carry throwing it in the zone and beating hitters often.
- SO. LHP Zach Sims (John A Logan) filled up the zone throughout his lone inning over the weekend. The athletic 6-foot-4 left-hander has an easy working operation with feel to repeat to pair with a loose and quick arm from a lower slot. Sims worked his fastball in the zone at 85-87 mph with his low-80s fading changeup working off the fastball. Flashing a short 78 mph slider that spun at 2300 RPMs.
- SO. RHP Jarron Thompson (Parkland) is an athletic 6-foot pitcher with a whippy arm and some feel to consistently work down the mound. Thompson worked up to 90 mph across two innings while showing a tight breaking ball. A high-ceiling arm for the Cobras and name to monitor throughout the fall.
- SO. RHP Stone Silver (Wabash Valley) is a physical 6-foot-3 right-handed pitcher with power stuff. Silver ran his fastball into the low-90s with heavy running action, Silver also got some swing/miss in the zone. His go-to offspeed pitch was a hard slider that missed bats in and out of the zone.
- RFR. RHP Dylan Mannino (John A Logan) is a strong-armed right-handed pitcher for the Volunteers standing at 6-foot-3, 205-pounds. Two pitches during his outing, a low-90s fastball that got up to 94 mph that he located throughout the zone and missed bats. Mannino showed a low-80s breaking ball that looks to be a potential strikeout pitch.
- SO. RHP Carson Clark (St. Charles) is a athletic 6-foot-3 right-hander with a whippy arm. Locating three pitches in the zone, his fastball sat in the 89-91 mph range with life out of the hand. Clark mixed in a low-80s breaking ball and upper-70s changeup to round off his arsenal.
- SO. RHP Jackson McDonald (St. Charles) stands at 6-foot-4, 200-pounds with feel for his delivery. The physical sophomore extends down the mound with a fluid and quick arm from a low slot, showing strikes two pitches in this look. His fastball ran up to 91 mph, sitting 89-91 throughout the inning, McDonald would throw an 81-83 mph breaking ball off his fastball.
- SO. RHP Nolan Hand (St. Charles) is a strong 6-foot-1 pitcher that showed feel for spin. In the zone with two-pitches from a higher slot, the fastball sat in the upper-80s throughout the outing with a mid-70s breaking ball.
- SO. RHP Gavin Parkerson (Parkland) is a strong armed right-hander for the Cobras. In the zone with two-pitches, both earning swing/miss throughout the inning. The fastball played at the top of the zone with carry, working up to 92 mph, the breaking ball had sharp bite enticed chases out of the zone.
- SO. RHP Evan Lopez (John A Logan) is an athletic 6-foot-3 right-hander with arm talent. Two-pitches with spotty control over the inning, the fastball sat at 91-92 mph with spin rates up to 2500 RPMs. Spun a short 10/4 breaking ball in the low-80s as his go-to offspeed pitch.
- SO. RHP Colin Tarr (John A Logan) is a high ceiling arm for the Volunteers standing at 6-foot-2, 175-pounds. Tarr saw an extended role for this staff as a freshman and will look to be an anchor again as a sophomore. Two-pitches in this look, the fastball sat at 89-91 mph and was thrown downhill in the bottom of the zone, his low-to-mid-80s slider played with short lateral action.
- SO. RHP Andy Hernandez (Wabash Valley) is a compact 5-foot-8 right-hander with one of the quickest arms at the event. Loud stuff from a low 3/4 slot with the fastball sitting 88-92 with spin rates up to 2500 RPMs. The tight breaking ball got chases out of the zone and spun up to 2850 RPMs.
- RFR. RHP Anthony Valenti (St. Charles) stands at 6-foot, 180-pounds with feel for his delivery and a quick arm. Valenti showed two pitches in his outing, an upper-80s fastball, showed confidence to throw his upper-70s to low-80s breaking ball in any count.
- SO. RHP Ricky Howell (Wabash Valley) stands at 6-foot-1 with more room to add to his frame. The fastball sat at 88-92 with life out of the hand with feel to locate the pitch to his gloveside, his breaking ball played with tight and late action.
- SO. RHP Jake Busson (Iowa Central) is a strong 6-foot right-hander that tossed a clean inning over the weekend. Feel for two pitches in this look, the fastball sat 89-90 mph and had feel for the zone, the slider sat in the low-80s with short 10/4 break.
- SO. RHP Jordan La Tour (Iowa Central) is a low pulse athletic 6-foot-3 right-hander with a quick arm from a low slot. Heavy fastball usage, La Tour ran his fastball up to 91 mph with spin (2300-2600 RPMs) cruising at 90 throughout the inning, flashed a low-80s slider.
- SO. RHP Connor Fugate (Wabash Valley) stands at 6-foot-3 with plenty of room for added strength to his frame. Fugate has feel for his delivery with a whippy arm from a low slot working with a two-pitch mix. The fastball worked up to 91 mph with run and sink flashing the ability to locate the pitch glove side. The breaking ball played with sharp bite getting hitters to chase out of the zone.
- RFR. RHP Mitchell Britton (North Iowa Area) is a sturdy framed right-hander that showed well over his inning. Stretch only with feel to repeat, the arm works quick and long, heavy dose of fastballs that cruised in the upp-80s T89 mph throughout the inning, showing feel to locate to his gloveside.
- SO. RHP Luke Diekman (Wabash Valley) is a 6-foot right-hander that showed three pitches and feel for the zone across his inning of work. Diekman ran his fastball up to 91 mph and threw it to different parts of the zone, showing the ability to consistently locate to his gloveside.
- SO. RHP Henry Kufa (St. Charles) is an athletic righty for St. Charles that showed three pitches during his outing. Kufa ran his fastball up to 91 mph with spin rates reaching 2400+ RPMs, two offspeed pitches that both got into the low-80s, the breaking ball played with tight break and killed spin on the changeup.
- RFR. RHP Thomas Howard (John A Logan) is a 6-foot-4, 225-pound right-hander that showed loud stuff during his inning. Howard has one of the quickest arms from the event and showed feel for three pitches. The fastball sat 91-93 mph with life and carry through the zone, missing bats at the top of the zone. Howard went to his low-80s breaking ball often and threw it with confidence using it as a putaway pitch, the changeup sat in the mid-80s and is a usable third offering.
- SO. LHP Preston Steiner (North Iowa Area) is a 5-foot-10 left-hander that showed well throughout his inning over the weekend. The fastball sat in the mid-80s T87 MPH with spin rates up to 2600 RPMs, Steiner went to his changeup, and threw the pitch with confidence.
- SO. RHP Braxton Shaffer (Iowa Central) is an athletic and long levered 6-foot-6 right-hander, fluid mover with more to come. The fastball sat 88-89 mph spinning at over 2400 RPMs, showed two offspeed pitches, a firm upper-70s slider and a fading changeup at 83 mph.
- SO. RHP Wyatt Brown (Lake Land) is a 6-foot-4 right-hander with considerable room for added fill, throwing well during his outing over the weekend. The fastball sat 88-89 mph and went to a low-70s breaking ball.
- SO. RHP Jaden Alberson (Elgin) is a loose and athletic 6-foot-1, 180-pound right-hander with a lot of room left for physical projection. The right-hander has a clean arm that works quick with fluidity. The fastball sat 85-88 mph T89 spinning up to 2600 RPMs, the breaking ball played in the mid-70s with spin up to 2800 RPMs.
- RSO. LHP Caleb Taylor (North Iowa Area) is a funky low-slot left-hander that showed two-pitches during his outing. A mid-80s fastball with life out of the hand and running action, the breaking ball played in the low-70s with sweeping action, using it against right-handed hitters often.
- SO. RHP Jake Perrino (Parkland) is a 6-foot-3 right-hander that showed loud stuff during his outing. The fastball sat 90-91 mph spinning up to 2500 RPMs at times, Perrino would show a low-80s changeup that he killed spin on.
- SO. RHP Drake McDonald (Lake Land) is a physical 6-foot-3, 230-pound right-hander that showed feel for the zone with two pitches. McDonald ran his fastball up to 91 mph, cruising at 90 throughout the inning, the fastball played with life out of the hand and used it primarily at the top of the zone. The breaking ball sat at 76-77 mph with tight breaking action that he threw in the zone.
FRESHMAN FOLLOWS
- FR. RHP Tyler Suttner (Iowa Central) is an upside right-hander for Iowa Central. Standing at 6-foot-2, the athletic right-hander has more room in his frame to add. Suttner showed confidence in throwing his breaking ball, a mid-70s pitch with spin (2600-2800 RPMs) that he used in the zone and as a putaway pitch. The fastball got up to 87 mph spinning at 2300+ RPMs.
- FR. RHP Lochlan Hansel (Rend Lake) is an upside right-hander standing at 6-foot-4, 195-pounds with plenty of room left in his frame to fill. Two pitches in this look, the fastball sat in the upper-80s throughout the inning throwing the pitch downhill and locating it at the bottom of the zone, Hansel spun a mid-70s breaking ball as his go-to offspeed pitch.
- FR. RHP Braycen Burg (Madison) is another freshman follow for the Wolfpack. The right-hander operated in the upper-80s T91 mph with carry throughout his inning from a higher slot. Burg went to big breaking ball as his go to offspeed pitch that played sharp at times.
- FR. RHP Bryce Minton (Lake Land) stands at 6-foot-2, 195-pounds with three pitches. The freshman sat 86-88 mph with his fastball, and showed an upper-70s splitter that killed spin and a upper-70s breaking ball.
- FR. RHP Eli Maynor (Rend Lake) is an athletic 6-foot-1 righty to follow for Rend Lake. three pitches in this look, a mid-80s fastball and showed feel for both an upper-70s changeup and a mid-70s breaking ball that spun at 2800+ RPMs.
- FR. LHP Lewis Slade (South Suburban) is an athletic left-hander standing at 6-foot-1, 184-pounds. Slade gives opposing hitters a tough time in the box, from a lower arm slot and a whippy arm action the baseball gets on hitters in a hurry. The fastball sat 85-86 T87 mph in this look, showing feel to land a low-70s breaking ball in the zone for strikes.
- FR. RHP Skyler Lhamon (Olney Central) is a 6-foot right-hander that showed loud stuff during his outing. The freshman delivers the baseball with some effort but was around the zone, his fastball ran up to 90 mph sitting in the upper-80s throughout the inning, Lhamon went to a upper-70s breaking ball that spun up to 2600 RPMs.
- FR. RHP Trevor Rehnstrom (Heartland) is an upside freshman for the Hawks. Standing at 6-foot-4 the athletic right-hander has a loose and clean arm with arm speed. Three-pitch mix in this look, the fastball sat 88-90 mph, showing a low-80s changeup and a mid-70s breaking ball.
- FR. RHP Sam Moses (Madison) is another freshman follow for the Wolfpack that showed loud stuff. The 6-foot-1 right hander worked both sides of the plate with his 86-90 mph fastball earning some swing/miss with the pitch. Moses would go to his hard 83-84 mph right breaking slider as his go-to offspeed pitch.
- FR. RHP Clay Gadbois (Kankakee) is an athletic right-hander with considerable room to add to his 6-foot-3, 185-pound frame. His arm works long behind with some quickness through release Showing well in his inning in relief, sitting in the upper-80s T89 mph that beat hitters in the zone with a mid-70s breaking ball with depth both pitches reaching 2400+ RPMs.
- FR. LHP Ty Reaka (Kaskaskia) is a strong 6-foot-3 left-hander that showed a three-pitch mix. Reaka ran his fastball up to 86 mph sitting in the mid-80s throughout his outing, his breaking ball sat at 73-75 with spin rates up to 2400, to round off his arsenal, Reaka showed a mid-70s changeup.
- FR. RHP Tyler Zuber (Lake Land) is a high-octane freshman with loud stuff. Effectively erratic, Zuber’s fastball sat 89-93 mph with 2500+ RPMs, showing two offspeed pitches in this look, a low-70s curveball and a low-80s changeup. The arm works continuously with notable arm speed through release.
- FR. RHP Isaiah Brennan (Iowa Central) is a slender 6-foot-3 freshman to know for the Tritons. The long-levered right-hander’s arm works loose with arm speed showing feel for two pitches during his outing. Brennan ran his fastball up to 92 mph with 2500+ RPMs while showing a swing/miss slider that sat 79-80 during his outing.
- FR. LHP Noah Marschke (Madison) is a high-follow freshman for the Wolfpack, the 6-foot-3 lanky freshman left-hander ran his fastball up to 90 mph. Marschke went to a big breaking ball as his go-to offspeed pitch, working out of the same window as his fastball. Both pitches earned swings/miss in game in the zone, throwing each pitch to different areas of the zone.
- FR. RHP Seth Impson (Lincoln Land) came on to close out their first game and the freshman right-hander tossed a clean inning showing loud stuff. The 6-foot, 170-pound athletic pitcher ran his fastball up to 92 mph while sitting 91 throughout the inning. Impson showed a confidence to throw his 75-78 mph slider in any count and worked in a fading changeup at 81.
- FR. RHP Braden Slogor (Lansing) is a live armed right-hander standing at 5-foot-11, 185-pounds. Slogor delivers the baseball with some effort out of a ¾ slot, the arm works quick and continuous with each pitch working out of the same window. Showing two pitches in this look, a lively fastball up to 89 mph and a big breaking curveball.
- FR. RHP Chase Loesch (Frontier) is a 6-foot-5, 240-pound imposing right-hander that is a freshman name-to-know for the Bobcats. Heavy dose of fastballs in his outing, sitting in the upper-80s T91 mph with some cut. Loesch flashed a mid-70s breaking ball spinning in the 2300-2500 RPM range.
- FR. RHP Sean Dooley (McHenry County) is another freshman follow from the weekend. Athletically built with more room for additional growth especially in his upper half. Dooley ran his fastball up to 90 mph across two innings, his breaking ball played sharp and was thrown hard in the low-80s and got up to 82 mph.
- FR. RHP Kollin Asbury (Kankakee) is a 6-foot-3, 205-pound freshman for the Cavaliers. Ashbury showed two pitches, an upper-80s fastball that topped out at 89 mph that beat hitters in the zone. Ashbury would go to a 75-79 mph slider as his go-to offspeed pitch that he threw in the zone, earning whiffs in the zone.
