TOP RETURNERS

Jacob Baldwin, 1B/OF, 2015 – All-Heart of America – 2nd Team

X-FACTOR
Brett Voth.
Voth posted a perfect 6-0 record as a junior with a 0.55 ERA and only six walks in 38 innings pitched and was named KABC 3A All-State at season’s end.

KEY PLAYER LOST
Taylor Heidebrecht, 1B, 2015. The Warriors lost several key components to their 22-2 team but Heidebrecht’s numbers stood out above all – he hit .603 with 16 doubles and 23 RBI. Most impressively he scored 43 runs in only 24 games and with 17 walks added to his hit totals reached base more than two out of three plate appearances (.683 OBP%).

2015 OUTLOOK:
Marion must overcome significant losses from last season’s team that won a share of the league title and made a run at the 3A state tournament. They do have a proven No. 1 starting pitcher in senior All-State RHP Brett Voth. They also return All-League senior 1B/OF Jacob Baldwin who should be a force in the middle of the Warrior line-up. Finding depth on the mound will be a priority and junior RHP Dylan Pippin could develop into a solid No. 2 behind Voth after showing promise at the varsity as a freshman before dealing with injuries last spring. Speedy junior OF Trevor Kruse could play a key role and sophomore utility player Peyton Heidebrecht should see an expanded role after limited action as a freshman. With seven everyday starters and the majority of innings on the mound departed from last year, the door is wide open for new faces to emerge and play a key role in Marion's 2015 season.
