Season Outlook
Fort Scott enters the 2017 season as the SEK Conference champion for the fourth consecutive season.  The Tigers will look to get past the regional final an into the the state playoffs this spring, and will have the depth and talent to make a serious run.  Fort Scott will be deep on the mound, perhaps the deepest pitching staff in Coach Regan's five year tenure.  Although the Tigers will be young, they will have a good mix of experienced upperclassmen. Versatile senior, Grant Goldston, was an All-State selection at catcher last season and is a Fort Scott CC recruit.  Goldston will have increased role on the mound and will carry a big bat in the line up as well. Jarret Lyon, another Fort Scott CC commit, will return from injury and could make his mark as one of the top pitchers in the state.  Look for Ryan Thomas and Colby Page to round out the pitching staff, while Jeron Poyner and Marcus Jamison and Gunnar Brown will join All Conference center fielder Taylor Engstrom in the outfield. The Tigers will have a trio of sophomores on the infield, 2B Ty Gorman and SS Alec Michaud will be a fantastic double combo up the middle, and 1B Matt Campbell will add power to the order. Keep an eye on the freshman class, which could be one of the most talented classes on the past five seasons.
