The Kansas high school baseball season kicks off on Mar. 20, opening day for regular season action under KSHSAA regulations. Leading up to opening day, we’ll be publishing our team previews ahead of the 2025 spring season, touching on programs spanning all state classifications, counting down to the official Prep Baseball Kansas Preseason Power 25 Rankings.

Perennially, we’ve submitted a preseason questionnaire to high school head coaches across the entire state. Their responses have been flooding in and we’re using the detailed insight they’ve provided in our team-by-team preseason analysis.

Head Coach: Blake Iles (7 years)
Classification: 6A
League: Sunflower League
2024 Record (Finish): 18-9 (Lost in Regional Championship in Extra Innings to Shawnee Mission East)

 


2025 SEASON OUTLOOK

No. of Returning Position Players: 8
No. of Returning Pitchers: 3

Top Returners:

  • P Holden Meadows (2025; Missouri Western) - 5'11", 170lb, R/R
    • 13-0, Starter for us who commands the zone with all pitches. Top level competitor who works efficiently in the zone.
  • INF/P Milo Burton (2026; Missouri) - 6'2", 190lb, R/R
    • High upside pitcher that batted leadoff for us all year last year.
  • C Carson May (2026; Kentucky) - 6'3", 220lbs, R/R
    • Power Bat who was in the middle of our lineup all year last year. Top catcher in his class who controls the run game well.
  • P Brett Liezert (2027) - 6'0", 200lbs, R/R
    • Power Arm in his class with high energy who works deep in to games.

Top Newcomers:

  • P/OF Caden Wallace - 6'4" 180lbs, L/L
    • Power Lefty with good off-speed to compliment. When he's on, he's one of the toughest to hit. Brings a level of competitiveness that is contagious.

Key Players Lost:

Coach’s Insight: “With the players we return and other guys who will step in to open positions, we should have a solid lineup 1-9 at the plate. Defensively we have some depth. Our outfield will be able to really cover some ground and I'd put them up defensively with any group in the state. If I had to name a weakness I would have to say Pitching. I really like our guys at the front end of the rotation and think the guys competing for the remaining spots have a lot of potential. They will have plenty of opportunities early in the season to carve out their role help up develop our identity.” – Blake Iles, head coach
