Prep Baseball Kansas Staff

The Kansas high school baseball season kicks off on Mar. 20, opening day for regular season action under KSHSAA regulations. Leading up to opening day, we’ll be publishing our team previews ahead of the 2025 spring season, touching on programs spanning all state classifications, counting down to the official Prep Baseball Kansas Preseason Power 25 Rankings.

Perennially, we’ve submitted a preseason questionnaire to high school head coaches across the entire state. Their responses have been flooding in and we’re using the detailed insight they’ve provided in our team-by-team preseason analysis.

Key Players Lost:

Coach’s Insight: “I am excited about the offensive production that we have returning from the 3A State Runner up team, in which 8 of our top 11 hitters from last year return. We should be a very senior heavy offensive team with who should be pre-season 3A Player of Year Josiah Sems leading all offensive categories. Our ability to put the ball in play and utilize our team speed will set us apart from a lot of teams. We also have some young guys that have played together for a long time that have put up impressive numbers over their last couple of summers that will contribute right away. My concern is always pitching, we have lost a considerable amount of innings from last year's successful team. This is an area that is unknown, but know we will need to rely on some guys that got some limited time last year and on some freshmen that will find themselves in some important moments throughout the year. If our young guys can step up and eat up some valuable innings we have a chance to do something special at the end of the year. I am excited for 12 year Big Leaguer and pitching coach, Evan Marshall, and what he can do with these athletes on the mound.” – Matt Baty, head coach
