Advanced Baseball Academy Scout Day: Pitcher Analysis

On December 17, Prep Baseball Report - Kansas held the Advanced Baseball Academy Scout Day. Over forty players attended the event in the 2021 to 2019 classes.

Players can now updated their profiles with a ProspectPlus subscription, while scouts and recruiters can add players on the ScoutPlus dashboard.

Player profiles have been updated with profile picture, running times, velocities, and videos. Today will take a closer look at the pitchers from the event. Players are listed in alphabetical order below.

Pitchers

Michael Arscott LHP / 1B / Blue Valley Northwest, KS / 2021

Arscott is a 6-foot 200-pound left-handed pitcher in Kansas’ 2021 class. Arscott works from a high three quarters arm slot, in line stride, slight uphill tilt in shoulders, fastball at 72-74 mph, some with arm side run, curveball has 12-to-6 shape, 61-64 mph, throws change up with near fastball arm speed at 67-70 mph.

Joe Brethour OF / RHP / Blue Valley North, KS / 2021

Brethour is a 5-foot-6 135-pound right-handed pitcher in Kansas’ 2021 class. Brethour has an over the top release, throws with some effort, controlled leg lift, accelerates down the mound, fastball at 63-65 mph, breaking ball has 12-to-6 shape, 57-59 mph, change up flashes arm side release, 60-62 mph.

Braden Buckley RHP / Olathe South , KS / 2019

Buckley is a 6-foot-3 215-pound right-handed pitcher in Kansas’ 2019 class. Buckley has a strong frame, drop and drive type delivery, uses legs well, over the top release, loose arm action, 80-81 mph fastball, occasional run, breaking ball can be sharp at times, 11-to-5 shape, 72-74 mph, throws for strike, change up flashes arm side run, 72-75 mph.

Thomas Burns SS / 2B / Blue Valley West, KS / 2020

Burns is a 5-foot-9 140-pound right-handed pitcher in Kansas’ 2020 class. Burns has a controlled delivery, throws with regular effort, over the top arm slot, in line down the mound, body stays under control, fastball at 72-74 mph, curveball has 12-to-6 downward action, 61-65 mph, change up thrown with near fastball arm speed, some sink, 66-68 mph.

Bailey Carlson SS / 3B / Olathe North, KS / 2021

Carlson is a 5-foot-7 130-pound right-handed pitchers Kansas’ 2021 class. Carlson has a three quarters arm slot, throws with regular effort, short arm circle, finishes falling to first base, fastball at 70-71 mph, change up at at 62-64 mph, some sink, shows 11-to-5 breaking ball, gradual break, 66-60 mph.

Jackson Earlywine RHP / OF / Paola , KS / 2021

Earlywine is a 6-foot 155-pound right-handed pitcher in Kansas’ 2021 class. Earlywine has a projectable and lean frame, quick arm speed, throws with some effort, over the top release, fastball at 73-75 mph, throws occasional splitter with arm side run, breaking ball has 12-to-6 action, occasional sharpness, 63-65 mph, flashes a slider with more 11-to-5 shape at 63 mph, change up at 66-67 mph.

Jackson Eaton LHP / 1B / Olathe North, KS / 2020

Eaton is a 6-foot-2 215-pound left-handed pitcher in Kansas’ 2020 class. Eaton has a controlled delivery, high three quarters release, repeatable, delivers the ball on downward plane, throws with regular effort, heavy fastball at 70-71 mph, sinking action, change up at 67-69 mph, slight sinking action.

Nick Edwards RHP / OF / Gardner Edgerton, KS / 2019

Edwards is a 5-foot-10 170-pound right-handed pitcher in Kansas’ 2019 class. Edwards has an over the top release, hides ball well, slight deception taking ball out of glove early, throws with regular effort, works slightly across body, fastball at 77-79 mph, breaking has 11-to-5 action, late bite, throws on same plane as fastball, change up flashes arm side run, 70-73 mph, near fastball arm speed.

Vincent Gardner 3B / RHP / St. Pius X, MO / 2019

Gardner is a 5-foot-8 200-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2019 class. Gardner has an over the arm slot, throws with regular effort, slight rotation at top of balance point, works in line down the mound, fastball at 75-79 mph, curveball at 60-63 mph, 11-to-5 shape, gradual break, change up at 63-65 mph, near fastball arm speed.

Ethan George RHP / 3B / Olathe North, KS / 2021

George is a 5-foot-9 160-pound right-handed pitcher in Kansas’ 2021 class. George has a fastball at 66-67 mph, 12-to-6 breaking ball at 55-57, change up at 63-66 mph, slight arm side run, come from an over the top release, controlled delivery, same release point for all pitches.

George is a 5-foot-10 165-pound right-handed pitcher in Kansas’ 2019 class. George has an over the top release, up tempo delivery, in-line and aggressive down the mound, fastball at 74-75 mph, some tilt on fastball, breaking ball has 12-to-6 action, 62-67 mph, 63-65 mph change up, slight arm side run.

Alex Johnson RHP / OF / Spring Hill, KS / 2020

Johnson is a 6-foot-4 160-pound right-handed pitcher in Kansas’ 2020 class. Johnson has an over the top release, throws with some effort, long limbs, hides the ball well, throws downhill, fastball at 76-78 mph, change up flashes sink at 70-73 mph, fastball arm speed, breaking ball has 11-to-5 action, 70-73 mph, some with sharp break.

Parker Kindig LHP / OF / Olathe South , KS / 2021

Kindig is a 6-foot 150-pound left-handed pitcher in Kansas’ 2021 class. Kindig has a crossfire release, throws with deception, strides towards left handed hitters, able to to work glove side, fastball works downhill at 70-73 mph, 1-to-7 shape breaking ball at 61-63 mph, gradual break, change up at 62-63 mph, fastball arm speed, slight sink.

Nicholas Nauser LHP / 1B / Blue Valley West, KS / 2020

Nauser is a 6-foot-1 145-pound left-handed pitcher in Kansas’ 2020 class. Purdy is a 5-foot-11 175-pound right-handed pitcher in Kansas’ 2019 class. David Sommers RHP / 2B / Olathe South, KS / 2020

Sommers is a 5-foot-8 140-pound right-handed pitcher in Kansas’ 2020 class. Peyton Walker LHP / 1B / Gardner Edgerton, KS / 2020
