Between The Lines Scout Day: Pitchers Analysis

Prep Baseball Report Kansas held the Between the Lines Scout Day at The BTL Baseball Facility in Shawnee, Kansas.  Nearly twenty-five players participated in the 2022 to 2019 classes from around the area.

Player profiles have been updated with running times and velocities along with a video of their performance.

Players can now updated their profiles with a ProspectPlus subscription, while scouts and recruiters can add players on ScoutPlus.

Here is a closer look at the pitchers from the event, listed in alphabetical order.

Pitchers

Steven Azzaro C / OF / St James Academy, KS / 2021 Azzaro is a 6-foot-1 170-pound right-handed pitcher in Kansas’ 2021 class. Azzaro comes from an over the top arm slot, quick tempo in delivery, slides foot across rubber, lands slightly open, finishes in position ready to field the ball, throws with some effort, fastball at 69-73 mph, some with late sinking action, change up at 62-66 mph, near fastball arm speed, throws for strikes.

Wyatt Barney RHP / OF / Desoto , KS / 2021 Barney is a lean 6-foot-2 155-pound right-handed pitcher in Kansas’ 2021 class. Barney uses a rock stop in the wind up and hides the ball behind right hip in stretch, controlled delivery, over the top release, works in line down the mound, throws with regular effort, fastball at 75-76 mph, works to the bottom of the zone, curveball has 11-to-5 shape, 65-67 mph, late at times, good arm side run when down the zone.

Adam Consiglio RHP / 1B / Shawnee Mission Northwest, KS / 2020 Consiglio is a 6-foot 205-pound right-handed pitcher in Kansas’ 2020 class. Consiglio works down hill with an over the top release, throws with some effort at release with a smooth tempo in delivery, in line stride, finishes in athletic position, fastball at 72-75 mph, breaking ball has 12-to-6 shape, 62-65 mph, throws change up with near fastball arm speed, 67-68 mph, throws for strikes.

Hayden Dyer C / 3B / Gardner Edgerton, KS / 2021 Dyer is a 6-foot 170-pound right-handed pitcher in Kansas’ 2021 class. Dyer comes from a high three quarters arm slot, controlled leg lift, accelerates down the mound, throws with regular effort, finishes online through release, fastball at 80-83 mph, occasional hard running actin, breaking ball at 71-73 mph, 11-to-5 action, late, commands for a strike, good feel for a change up at 74-77 mph, sinking action.

Jake Emhardt SS / 2B / Blue Valley Southwest, KS / 2020 Emhardt is a 5-foot-11 150-pound right-handed pitcher in Kansas’ 2020 class. Emhardt was impressive in his bullpen with command and projectable velocity, controlled and smooth delivery, repeatable, throws with regular effort, loose over the top arm slot, fastball at 82-84 mph, some with arm side run, breaking ball works out of same slot as fastball, 11-to-5 action, sharp and late, 69-73 mph, change up has some depth with arm side sink, throws with near fastball arm speed, 76-77 mph, high upside with arm action and command of all pitches.

Anthony Fincher RHP / OF / Blue Valley, KS / 2022 Fincher is a 6-foot-1 157-pound right-handed pitcher in Kansas’ 2022 class. Fincher comes from a high three quarters arm slot, long arm circle, throws across body after he lands on front side, fastball at 67-70 mph, some with arm side sink, breaking ball has gradual 11-to-5 action, showed command of change up at 59-60 mph, near fastball arm speed.

Josh Kellogg OF / RHP / De Soto, KS / 2021 Kellogg is a lean 6-foot 140-pound right-handed pitcher in Kansas’ 2021 class. Kellogg a smooth and repeatable delivery, comes from an over the top arm slot, hides ball well until release, fastball at 69-72 mph, some with slight two-seam action, throws for strikes, breaking ball has 11-to-5 shape, slightly lower arm angle, 6-63 mph, gradual break, change up at 62-65 mph, throws with near fastball arm speed.

James Mendez 2B / RHP / Lansing , KS / 2021 Mendez is a 5-foot-7 155-pound right-handed pitcher in Kansas’ 2021 class. Mendez comes from a short high three quarters arms slot, hands raise with knee lift, throws with some effort, lands slightly closed, should stay level during delivery, fastball at 64-66 mph, slight run, breaking ball has 10-to-4 shape, gradual action, 58-60 mph, throws change up with near fastball arm speed, 56-58 mph.

Sterling Neumer RHP / OF / Olathe Northwest , KS / 2022 Neumer is a long and lean 6-foot-3 145-pound right-handed pitcher in Kansas’ 2022 class. Nuemer has a short take away from glove with a high three quarters arm slot, projection in build, smooth and repeatable rhythm, stays in line down the mound, fastball at 71-74 mph, arm side running action at times, gradual 11-to-5 acton on breaking ball, 60-63 mph, throws breaking ball with near fastball arm speed, 65-68 mph, some with arm side release.

Aaron Noll OF / RHP / Maur Hill Mount Academy, KS / 2021 Noll is a 5-foot-9 135-pound right-handed pitcher in Kansas’ 2021 class. Noll keeps hands high during delivery, slides foot across rubber, in line stride, comes from a loose sidearm slot, throws with regular effort keeping shoulders level during delivery, fastball is heavy with two-seam action, 73-77 mph, throws for strikes, breaking ball has 10-to-4 action, gradual, 60-62 mph, throws change up at 64-67 mph.

Ryan Rast 3B / OF / Blue Valley Southwest, KS / 2020 Rast is a 5-foot-11 175-pound right-handed pitcher in Kansas’ 2020 class.
