Fall Underclass Games: Corner Infield Analysis

For the fifth year, Prep Baseball Report - Missouri/Kansas held the Fall Underclass Games in Manhattan, Kansas at Kansas State University.  Nearly 50 players from Missouri and Kansas participated in the 2021 and 2020 classes.

Players can now updated their profiles with a ProspectPlus subscription, while scouts and recruiters can add players on the ScoutPlus dashboard.

Player profiles have been updated with profile picture, running times, velocities, and videos.  Today will take a closer look at the corner infielders from the event. Players are listed in alphabetical order below.

Corner Infielders

Blake Andersen RHP / 1B / Olathe East, KS / 2020

Andersen is a long legged 6-foot-2 173-pound right-handed hitting first baseman in Kansas’ 2020 class.  He ran a 7.50 60 and a 4.81 home to first.  He has a 76 mph exit velocity. At the plate, starts open, smooth rhythm in load, slight hand load, fast bat and aggressive bat speed, gap to gap contact, occasional pull side power, solid consistent contact during batting batting practice, loose hands, ripled to right center in game action. At first base, 77 mph positional velocity, soft hands, high three quarter arm slot, showed range the ball, fluid transfer, mostly accurate throws.

Dominic Bainter 1B / OF / Hays , KS / 2021

Bainter is an athletically built 5-foot-9 150-pound left-handed hitting first baseman in Kansas’ 2021 class.  He ran a 7.44 60 and a 4.53 home to first.  He has an 80 mph exit velocity. At the plate, starts with an open stance, short and controlled stride, minimal hand load, short to the ball, hands control the barrell, aggressive hitter, gap to gap approach, hard single up the middle in game action.  On the infield, 65 mph positional velocity, smooth actions, fluid footwork to the ball, clean exchange, short high three quarters release, quick catch and throw, accurate throws.

Brady Beverman 3B / RHP / Olathe South, KS / 2021

Beverman is a well built 5-foot-11 180-pound right-handed hitting third baseman in Kansas’ 2021 class.  He ran a 8.03 60 and a 5.16 home to first.  He has a 78 mph exit velocity. At the plate, balanced set up, smooth and controlled load to back side, short in line stride, loose hands, quick bat speed, gap to gap line drives during batting practice, showed feel for the barrel in game action, singled to each gap and tripled to left center.  On the infield, 72 mph across the diamond, 71 mph positional veto at first base, three quarters release, controlled and fluid actions, clean transfer, fields ball in athletic position, mostly accurate throws.

Benjamin Bryan C / RHP / Blue Springs South, MO / 2021

Bryan is a strong bodied 6-foot 202-pound right-handed hitting first baseman in Missouri’s 2021 class.  He ran a 7.69 60 and a 4.90 home to first.  He has a 79 mph exit velo. At the plate, start open, quick in line stride, hands separate from stride, flashed power to pull side, swing produced mostly middle and pull side line drives, quick bat speed, doubled twice in game action to center field. At first base, 66 mph positional velocity, over the top release, quick to the ball, clean transfer, feet create momentum to throw, mostly accurate throws.

Alex Callia RHP / 3B / Lee's Summit North, MO / 2020

Callia is a strong 5-foot-8 175-pound right-handed hitting third baseman in Missouri’s 2020 class. He ran a 7.20 60 and a 4.90 home to first.  He has an exit velocity of 88 mph.  At the plate, starts with open stance, toe tap, in line stride, level path, strong hands, middle to pull side line drives during batting practice, has pull power.  Singled twice and tripled to right center field in game action. On the infield, 80 mph positional velocity, high three quarters release, fields ball in rhythm with footwork, clean transfer, fluid actions, mostly accurate throws.

Ty Campbell C / 2B / Blue Springs South, MO / 2021

Campbell is a long levered 5-foot-10 150-pound left-handed hitting second baseman in Missouri’s 20201 class.  He ran a 8.40 60 and a 5.12 home to first.  He has an exit velocity of 72 mph. At the plate, thin set up, smooth rhythm, controlled leg kick, accelerated swing, occasionally loses barrel, middle to pull side contact, loose hands creates bat whip. On the infield, 71 mph positional velocity, short high three quarters release, loose arm action, works through the ball with footwork, momentum behind throw, clean transfer, mostly accurate throws.

Mitchael Casement C / 3B / Maize, KS / 2021

Casement is a 5-foot-8 160-pound right-handed hitting third baseman in Kansas’ 2021 class.  He ran a 8.42 60 and a 5.65 home to first.  He has an exit velocity of 71 mph. At the plate, starts with wide stance, small stride with minimal load, some lift to swing path, mostly middle to pull side contact during batting practice. On the infield, 69 mph positional velocity, quick catch and throw, aggressive to the ball, high three quarters release, mostly accurate throws.

Trevor Curl C / 3B / Fort Zumwalt West, MO / 2020

Curl is a 5-foot-6 145-pound right-handed hitting third baseman in Missouri’s 2020 class.  He ran a 7.69 60 and a 4.88 home to first.  He has an exit velocity of 77 mph. At the plate, balanced stance, slight load to back side, early and short stride, compact swing, two-piece swing, swing path works to the top of the ball, mostly middle to pull side line drives. On the infield, 68 mph positional velocity, over the top release, clean transfer, fluid actions, mostly accurate throws.

Jacob Dillon 3B / RHP / Olathe North, KS / 2020

Dillon is a stong and athletic 6-foot 175-pound right-handed hitting third baseman in Kansas’ 2020 class.  He ran a 7.51 60 and a 4.68 home to first. He has a 90 mph exit velocity. At the plate,  starts slightly open, controlled load into back side, no wasted movement in hands, strong hands, quick swing, body stays under control, gap to gap approach, pull side power, doubled twice to left center in game action. On the infield, 85 mph positional velocity, throws are mostly accurate with carry, momentum after the catch, fluid footwork the ball, transfer on time with feet, soft hands, short over the top release.

Hayden Dyer C / RHP / Gardner Edgerton, KS / 2021

Dyer is a 5-foot-10 150-pound right-handed hitting third baseman in Kansas’ 2021 class.  He ran a 7.34 60 and 4.56 home to first. He has an 82 mph exit velocity. At the plate, balanced set up, reverse toe tap, smooth and controlled load, showed occasional pull side power, gap to gap approach, hand manage the barrel, singled to left in game action.  On the infield, 75 mph positional velocity, loose three quarter release, quick to the ball, soft hands, field ball out front, clean exchange, mostly accurate throws.

Shaun Gomez Jr 3B / RHP / Shawnee Heights , KS / 2020

Gomez is a physical 6-foot 190-pound right-handed hitting third baseman in Kansas’ 2020 class.  He ran a 7.25 60 and a 5.25 home to first.  He has a 91 mph exit velocity. At the plate, starts with a wide base, open stance, reverse to tap, in line stride, aggressive swing, hits with leverage, pull side contact, power to pull gap, violent swing, doesn’t get cheated, body stays under control during swing, homered to left field in game action.  On the infield, 81 mph positional velocity, over the top release, short arm circle, moves well to the ball, clean transfer on time with footwork, throws are mostly accurate, most have carry.

Michael Infranca LHP / 1B / Blue Springs , MO / 2021

Infranca is a 5-foot-8 165-pound left-handed hitting first baseman in Missouri’s 2021 class.  He ran a 810 60 and a 5.26 home to first.  He has a 75 mph exit velocity. At the plate, starts in a wide base, small controlled leg lift, loads against back side, level path, hands work inside the ball, mostly middle to opposite field contact during batting practice.  At first base, 69 mph positional velocity, quick catch and throw, three quarters arm slot, aggressive to the ball, clean glove to hand transfer, accurate throws.

Jace Kaminska RHP / 3B / Caney Valley, KS / 2020

Kaminska is a physical 6-foot-2 200-pound right-handed hitting third baseman in Kansas’ 2020 class.  He ran a 7.75 60 and a 5.07 home to first.  He has a 91 mph exit velocity. At the plate, ball jumped off bat, showed pull side power, consistent hard contact middle to pull side of the field, balanced stance, no wasted movement in load, level path, stayed on ball after contact, tripled to right center in game action.  On the infield, 80 mph positional velocity, over top release, feet create momentum after the catch, quick to the ball, fluid transfer in sync with hands, throws have carry, mostly accurate.

Austin Mann 1B / OF / Liberty North, MO / 2021

Mann is a 6-foot 185-pound right-handed hitting first baseman in Missouri’s 2021 class.  He ran a 7.33 60 and a 5.39 home to first.  He has an exit velocity of 78 mph. At the plate, starts in a wide stance, quick toe tap for rhythm, short stride, quick bat speed, showed occasional pull side power.  At first base, 68 mph positional velocity, high three quarters release, aggressive to the ball, clean transfer with quick feet, accurate throws.

Hunter Milstead 1B / LHP / Olathe South , KS / 2020

Milstead is a long-legged 6-foot 150-pound left-handed hitting first baseman in Kansas’ 2020 class.  He ran a 4.85 home to first and a 7.71 60.  He has an exit velocity of 74 mph.  At the plate, starts in a wide base, controlled load to back side, short stride, gap to gap approach, natural lift in swing, singled to both gaps in game action.  At first base, 71 mph positional velocity, over the top arm slot, short arm circle, athletic actions, soft hands, accurate throws.

Bradley Poletis OF / RHP / Rockhurst, MO / 2021

Poletis is a 5-foot-10 165-pound right-handed hitting third baseman in Missouri’s 2021 class.  He ran a 7.76 60 and a4.91 home to first.  He has a 78 mph exit velocity.  At the plate, starts in a tall and open stance, reverse toe tap, long in line stride, hits with leverage in back side, swing produced mostly pull side line drives during batting practice, singled and doubled to center field in game action. On the infield, 78 mph positional velocity, over the top release, fluid actions, clean transfer on time with footwork, mostly accurate throws.

Brady Rhoden LHP / 1B / Lees Summit West , MO / 2021

Rhoden is a strong 6-foot-2 180-pound left-handed hitting first baseman in Missouri’s 2021 class.  He ran 7.65 60 and a 4.94 home to first.  He has an exit velocity of 78 mph.  At the plate, balanced stance, leg kick, in line stride, body stays under control during swing, level path through hitting zone, swing produced mostly gap to gap line drives, tripled to right center field in game action.  At first base, short over the top release, aggressive to the ball, quick catch and throw, most accurate throws.

Wesley Stang 1B / RHP / Olathe South , KS / 2020

Stang is a 6-foot 170-pound right-handed hitting first baseman in Kansas' 2020 class.  He ran a 7.56 60 and a 5.10 home to first.  He has an 88 mph exit velocity. At the plate, tall stance, slightly open, long in line stride, leverage from back side, smooth and repeatable load, swing produced mostly middle to pull side contact. On the infield, 74 mph across the diamond, 72 mph positional velocity at first base, over the top release, fields ball in athletic position, soft hands, clean exchange, works through the ball, most accurate throws.

JD Van Horn C / 3B / Ottawa, KS / 2020

Van Horn is a 5-foot-10 160-pound right-handed hitting third baseman in Kansas’ 2020 class.  He ran a 7.75 60 and a 5.25 home to first.  He has an 81 mph exit velocity. At the plate, balanced stance, smooth load to back side, aggressive leg kick and swing path, doesn’t get cheated, showed pull side power, body stays under control, loose hands with quick bat speed. On the infield, 77 mph positional velocity, plays game with high energy, short over the top release, smooth actions, stays under control, clean transfer, feet set up to throw, fields ball out front in athletic position.

Spencer Whitfield C / 1B / McPherson, KS / 2020

Whitfield is a 5-foot-10 175-pound switch hitting first baseman in Kansas’ 2020 class.  He ran a 5.18 home to first and a 8.05 60.  He has an 80 mph exit velocity. At the plate, tall set up, smooth load, hands walk away from stride, level bat path, quick bat speed, gap to gap approach. At first base, 67 mph positional velocity, over the top release, reverse pivot to throw to second, fluid footwork on time with clean exchange, mostly accurate throws.
