Fall Underclass Games: Infielder Analysis

Prep Baseball Report-Missouri/Kansas held the Fall Underclass Games at the University of Kansas on Saturday, October 20.  Over 50 players in the 2021-2022 classes from around the region attended.

Players can now updated their profiles with a ProspectPlus subscription, while scouts and recruiters can add players on the ScoutPlus dashboard.

Player profiles have been updated with profile picture, running times, velocities, and videos.  Today will take a closer look at the infielders from the event. Players are listed in alphabetical order below.

Infielders

Nyle Banks SS / RHP / Olathe North , KS / 2021

Banks is a 5-foot-9, 145-pound lean bodied and athletic switch hitting middle infielder and RHP in Kansas’ 2021 recruiting class. At the event Banks ran a 7.08 second 60 and 4.11 home-to-first. At the plate, Banks showed an 82 mph exit velocity from the left side and 83 mph from the right, simple load, quiet hands, repeatable swing, toe tap into load from the right side, line drive contact to both sides during batting practice, showed the ability to hit to all fields from the right side. On the infield, Banks showed quick twitch actions, quick to the baseball, long arm action, high three-quarter release, positional velocity of 87 mph (top at the event), mostly accurate throws.

Peyton Basler SS / RHP / Lansing , KS / 2021

Basler has a slender frame and athletic build at 5-foot-11, 160-pounds and is a right-handed hitting middle infielder in Kansas’ 2021 recruiting class. At the event he ran a 7.25 second 60 yard dash, 4.70 home-to-first and posted an exit velocity of 83 mph. During batting practice, Basler starts with an open stance, abbreviated leg lift into load, quiet hands, showed feel for the barrel, hard contact with a gap-to-gap approach. Defensively, Basler has good actions on the infield, quick to the baseball, shows off athleticism, strong arm, positional velocity of 82 mph, very accurate throws.

Derek Blackmore 1B / OF / Rockhurst HS, MO / 2021

Blackmore is a big bodied 5-foot-10, 195-pound left-handed hitting corner infielder in Missouri’s 2021 class. At the event he ran a 8.14 second 60, 5.37 home-to-first and posted an exit velocity of 81mph. At the plate, leg lift into load, quiet hands, in line stride, aggressive swing with extension through the baseball, high finish with hands, showed pull pop during batting practice with fly ball contact to right field. Defensively at first base, Blackmore showed his athleticism, fluid footwork, quick arm action, clean transfers, high three-quarter release, positional velocity of 63 mph, mostly accurate throws.

Alex Biondo C / 3B / Ray-Pec, MO / 2022

Biondo is a 5-foot-11, 175-pound right-handed hitting middle infield and catching prospect in Missouri’s 2022 class. At the event he ran a 7.97 60 yard dash, 4.64 home-to-first and posted an exit velocity of 74 mph. During batting practice, Biondo starts with a slightly opened stance, quiet load with a toe-tap into backside, simple swing, high finish with hands. On the infield, he attacked the baseball, showed clean transfers, high three-quarter arm slot, positional velocity of 69 mph, fairly accurate throws

Simon Boese SS / 3B / McPherson, KS / 2022

Boese is a long and lean 6-foot, 150-pound middle infielder and third basemen in Kansas’ 2022 recruiting class. He ran a 7.71 second 60 yard dash and a 4.65 home-to-first. At plate, 82 mph exit velocity, starts with an open stance, toe tap into load, level bat path, quick hands, leverages up front side, extension through the baseball. Defensively on the infield, Boese shows his athleticism, fluid footwork, moves well side-to-side, clean transfers, longer arm action, high three-quarter release, positional velocity of 65 mph, mostly accurate throws.

William Brant 2B / 3B / Shawnee Mission East, KS / 2021

Brant is an athletic 5-foot-8, 165-pound right-handed hitting middle and corner infield prospect in Kansas’ 2021 class. At the event he ran a 7.58 second 60 yard dash and 5.04 home-to-first. During batting practice, Brant showed an 83 mph exit velocity, quiet load that leads into an aggressive swing, flat bat path, longer and in line stride, leverages front side, quick hands, showed hard line drive contact to all fields. Defensively, Brant has good actions, shows athleticism, aggressive to the baseball, moves well side-to-side, momentum towards target, over the top release, positional velocity of 77 mph, very accurate throws.

Zachary Brink 1B / LHP / Olathe Northwest, KS / 2021

Brink is a 5-foot-8, 160-pound left-handed hitting corner infielder in Kansas’ 2021 recruiting class. At the event he ran a 7.91 second 60 yard dash and 5.26 home-to-first. At the plate, 78 mph exit velocity, starts with an open stance, simple knee pinch into load, in line stride, loose hands, showed feel for the barrel, high finish with hands, during batting practice he sprayed line drives to all fields. Defensively at first base, Brink showed his athleticism and good actions, moved well laterally, quick clean arm action, clean transfers, high three-quarter release, positional velocity of 75 mph, very accurate throws.

Mitchael Casement C / 3B / Maize, KS / 2021

Casement is a 5-foot-10, 75-pound right-handed hitting catcher and corner infielder in Kansas’ 2021 class out of Wichita. At the event he ran a 8.15 second 60 yard dash, 4.71 home-to-first and posted an exit velocity of 83 mph. During batting practice, Casement shows a simple, compact and repeatable swing, hard line drives to the middle of the field, athletic stance, level bat path, showed feel for the barrel. Defensively on the infield, Casement attacked the baseball, showed clean transfers, high three-quarter arm slot, positional velocity of 70 mph, accurate throws

Chayse Gruber 2B / 3B / Great Bend , KS / 2022

Gruber is a 5-foot-5, 140-pound, right-handed hitting second basemen and RHP in Kansas’ 2022 recruiting class. He ran a 8.39 second 60 yard dash, 5.13 home-to-first and posted an exit velocity of 78 mph. During batting practice, Gruber starts with a slightly opened stance, leg lift into load, level bat path, smooth swing, minimal head movement. Defensively on the infield, he shows some feel for the position, clean transfers, moves well side-to-side, clean arm action, high three-quarter release, positional velocity of 70 mph, mostly accurate throws.

Dillon Houk C / 3B / Liberty North , MO / 2022

Houk is a big bodied 6-foot-2, 185-pound right-handed hitting catcher and corner infield prospect in Missouri’s 2022 class. He ran a 7.76 second 60, 4.41 home-to-first and posted an exit velocity of 81 mph. At the plate, starts open, simple weight shift to load, some rhythm with hands, slightly closed off stride, level bat path. Defensively on the infield, Houk moves well side-to-side, attacks the baseball, clean transfers, positional velocity of 69 mph, mostly accurate throws

Quentin Platt SS / 2B / Liberty North, MO / 2021

Plat is a 5-foot-9, 155-pound right-handed hitting middle infielder and outfielder in Missouri’s 2021 class. He ran a 7.64 second 60 and a 4.56 home-to-first. At the plate, 77 mph exit velocity, starts in a wide and open stance, simple knee pinch into load, in line stride, flat bat path, works inside the baseball, showed contact to right-center field with lift during batting practice. Defensively in the outfield, Plat is aggressive to the baseball, quick feet, clean transfers, momentum towards target, positional velocity of 70 mph, mostly accurate throws. On the infield, shows quick actions, moves well side to side, momentum behind throws, three-quarter release, positional velocity of 73 mph, mostly accurate throws.

Nate Pokorney SS / RHP / Timberland, MO / 2022

Pokorney is a 5-foot-8, 135-pound right-handed hitting middle infielder in Missouri’s 2022 recruiting class out of Timberland HS. He ran a 7.21 second 60 yard dash, 4.38 home-to-first and posted an exit velocity of 80 mph. During hitting evaluations, Pokorney starts with a slightly opened stance, abbreviated leg lift into load, quiet hands, quick bat, level bat path, in line stride, showed line drives to center and right field during batting practice. In the infield, Pokorney has fluid footwork, moves well side-to-side, clean transfers, high three-quarter arm slot, positional velocity of 73 mph, mostly accurate throws.

Cameron Loyd C / 3B / Hallsville, MO / 2021

Loyd is a 5-foot-11, 160-pound right-handed hitting catching and corner infield prospect in Missouri’s 2021 class. At the event he ran a 7.44 second 60 yard dash, 4.15 home-to-first and posted an exit velocity of 79 mph. During batting practice, Loyd showed hard line drives and fly balls to the left side of the field, simple weight shift with his load, level bat path, quick hands, balanced lower half. Defensively in the infield, he showed clean transfers, momentum towards first base, high three-quarter arm slot, positional velocity of 70 mph, accurate throws.

Nikolas Madrid SS / 2B / Staley, MO / 2021

Madrid is a 5-foot-6, 155-pound right-handed hitting middle infielder in Missouri’s 2021 class. He ran a 6.95 second 60 yard dash and a 4.31 home-to-first. At the plate, 78 mph exit velocity, athletic stance, quiet load, quick hands, in line stride, shows some feel for the barrel, level bat path, during batting practice he showed an inside out approach. Defensively, Madrid has good actions, moves well side-to-side, momentum towards target, quick transfer to release, short quick arm action, high three-quarter release, fairly accurate throws.

Weston Madden RHP / 3B / Desoto, KS / 2021

Madden has a slender build and projectable frame at 6-foot-1, 165-pounds and is a RHP and corner infield prospect in Kansas’ 2021 class. He ran a 7.21 60 yard dash, 4.40 home-to-first and posted an 85 mph exit velocity. At the plate, starts open, weight shift and rhythm with hands into his load, in line stride, extension through the baseball. Defensively, Madden moves well side-to-side, good actions, quick transfer to release, above average arm strength, high three-quarter release, positional velocity of 78 mph, very accurate throws

 

 

Walker Mann 3B / SS / Lee Summit West, MO / 2021

Mann is a 5-foot-8, 155-pound right-handed hitting infielder and RHP in Missouri’s 2021 recruiting class. He ran a 7.58 second 60 yard dash and 4.76 home-to-first. At the plate, 81 mph exit velocity, quiet load, rhythm with hands, in line stride, level bat path, high finish with hands, controlled violent swing resulting in line drives and hard ground balls in batting practice. Defensively, Mann shows his athleticism on the infield, moves well side-to-side, clean transfers, above average arm strength, carry to throws, positional velocity of 79 mph, mostly accurate throws

Austin Mann 1B / OF / Liberty North, MO / 2021

Mann is a big bodied and strong 6-foot-1, 195-pound right-handed hitting corner infielder in Missouri’s 2021 class. At the event he ran a 7.81 second 60, a 4.72 home-to-first and posted an exit velocity of 78 mph. At the plate, starts in a more narrow stance, mini leg lift into load, some rhythm with hands, in line stride, leverages front side, high finish with hands, showed fly ball contact to left field during batting practice. Defensively at first base, Mann has quick feet, moves well side-to-side, three-quarter release, positional velocity of 78 mph, accurate throws.

 

 

Jake Markert SS / OF / Fort Zumwalt South, MO / 2021

Markert is an athletic 5-foot-9, 160-pound, middle infield prospect in Missouri’s 2021 recruiting class. He ran a 7.04 second 60 and a 4.32 home-to-first. At the plate, 86 mph exit velocity, open stance to start, simple load, good separation and rhythm with hands, very quick hands, showed feel for the barrel, extension through the baseball, ball jumps of bat, gap-to-gap approach, showed hard line drive contact during batting practice. Defensively, Markert showed good actions on the infield, quick to the baseball, momentum towards target, three-quarter release, clean quick arm action, throws have carry, positional velocity of 77 mph, mostly accurate throws.

Jake McClure SS / OF / Gardner-Edgerton, KS / 2022

McClure is a 5-foot-7, 140-pound left-handed hitting middle infielder in Kansas’ 2022 class. At the event he ran a 7.50 second 60 yard dash and a 4.64 home-to-first. During hitting evaluations, McClure posted a 79 mph exit velocity, has some raw ability, majority of contact to right field during bp, shows a simple yet athletic set up at the plate, quiet load, in line stride, quick hands, extension through the baseball. Defensively, McClure is quick to the baseball with fluid footwork, momentum towards target, three-quarter release, positional velocity of 62 mph, very accurate throws.

Corey McCready OF / SS / Blue Valley Northwest, KS / 2021

McCready is a 5-foot-9, 160-pound right-handed hitting middle infielder in Kansas’ 2021 recruiting class. He ran a 7.32 second 60, 4.15 home-to-first and posted an exit velocity of 79 mph. During batting practice, McCready showed a mix of fly balls and line drives in the gaps, smaller leg lift and quiet hands into load, slightly closed off stride, minimal head movement, high finish with hands. Defensively, 74 mph positional velocity, moves well side-to-side, clean transfers, momentum towards target, longer arm action, high three-quarter release, accurate throws.

Matt Riekhof SS / 3B / Park Hill South, MO / 2021

Riekhof is a 5-foot-10, 150-pound right-handed hitting middle infield prospect in Missouri’s 2021 class out of Parkhill South HS. He ran a 7.26 second 60 and 4.39 home-to-first. At the plate, 76 mph exit velocity, open and athletic stance, leg lift into load, loose hands, in line stride, flat bat path, opposite field approach during batting practice with mainly line drive and fly ball contact. Defensively, Riekhof moves well and shows some athleticism on the infield, quick transfer to throw, short arm action, high three-quarter release, positional velocity of 71 mph, very accurate throws. Reikhof’s lean build and long levers make him a prospect to follow as he continues to develop.

Jackson Russell 2B / RHP / Belton , MO / 2022

Russell is a 5-foot-10, 155-pound right-handed hitting middle infielder and RHP is Missouri’s 2022 recruiting class. He ran a 7.50 second 60, 4.65 home-to-first and posted an exit velocity of 74 mph. At the plate, starts slightly open, reverse toe tap into load, slightly closed stride, showed contact to pull side during batting practice, leverages up front side, high finish with hands. Defensively, Russell is aggressive to the baseball, moves well side-to-side, three-quarter release, positional velocity of 67 mph, mostly accurate throws.

Cody Sanderson SS / 2B / Edmond Memorial , OK / 2021

Sanderson is a 6-foot, 165-pound right-handed hitting middle infield prospect in Oklahoma’s 2021 recruiting class. He ran a 7.51 second 60 and 4.60 home-to-first. At the plate, 82 mph exit velocity, starts with a wide base, reverse toe tap into his load, some rhythm with hands, in line stride, showed line drive and groundball contact to all fields during batting practice. Defensively, Sanderson shows his athleticism, attacks the baseball, clean transfers, momentum towards target, high three-quarter release, positional velocity of 72 mph, accurate throws. Sanderson’s raw ability, lean frame and athletic build make him an attractive prospect to look out for as he continues to develop.

Jonah Sarabia RHP / 1B / Battle , MO / 2021

Sarabia has a lean build at 6-foot-1, 150-pounds and is a right-handed hitting corner infield and RHP in Missouri’s 2021 class. He ran a 8.14 second 60 and 4.76 home-to-first. At the plate, Sarabia shows long limbs and a projectable frame, 79 mph exit velocity, starts narrow with lower half, in line stride, quiet hands, level bat path, minimal head movement, leverages up front side. Defensively at first base, moves well for size, clean and quick arm action, high three-quarter release, positional velocity of 75 mph, very accurate throws.

Dylan Scott SS / 2B / Gardner Edgerton, KS / 2021

Scott has a bigger frame and lean build at 5-foot-11, 170-pounds and is a middle infielder in Kansas’ 2021 class. At the event he ran 7.86 second 60, 4.76 home-to-first and posted an exit velocity of 78 mph. During batting practice, Scott starts slightly open, knee pinch into load, quiet hands, shorter and in line stride, leans back with torso to help generate lift, extension through the baseball. Defensively on the infield, good actions, moves well side-to-side, fluid footwork, high three-quarter release, positional velocity of 68 mph, accurate throws, some carry behind the ball.

Malik Smith SS / 2B / Whitfield, MO / 2021

Smith is a 5-foot-8, 133-pound right-handed hitting middle infield prospect in Missouri’s 2021 class. He ran a 7.25 second 60 yard dash, 4.25 home-to-first and posted an exit velocity of 72 mph. At the plate, starts in a narrow stance, aggressive leg lift into load, in line stride, leverages up front side, regular effort with swing, showed contact to right field during batting practice. Defensively, Smith shows quick feet on the infield, moves well laterally, clean transfers, attacks the baseball, high three-quarter release, positional velocity of 71 mph, mostly accurate throws.

Ethan Straight 1B / LHP / Staley , MO / 2021

Straight is a long, lean and projectable frame at 6-foot, 155-pounds. He is a left-handed hitting corner infielder in Missouri’s 2021 recruiting class. At the event he ran a 7.59 second 60, 5.06 home-to-first and posted an exit velocity of 82 mph. At the plate, Straight shows a smooth load with a toe tap, loose hands, some lift to his swing, repeatable swing with minimal head movement, during batting practice he showed hard contact and pop to his pull side. Defensively at first base, athletic actions, moves well laterally, quick and clean arm action, high three-quarter release, ball carries, positional velocity of 69 mph, mostly accurate throws.

Taylor Warren SS / RHP / Blue Springs , MO / 2021

Warren is an athletic middle infield and right-handed pitching prospect in Missouri’s 2021 recruiting class. At the event he ran a 7.71 second 60, 4.55 home-to-first and posted an exit velocity of 76 mph. At the plate, quiet load, plus hands, works inside the baseball, quick bat, showed feel for the barrel, hard contact to middle and opposite field. Defensively, showed good actions on the infield, over the top release, fluid footwork, shows athleticism, positional velocity of 72 mph, mostly accurate throws

Langston Williams 1B / RHP / Francis Howell Central , MO / 2021

Williams is a strong and big bodied 6-foot-1, 203-pound corner infielder in Missouri’s 2021 recruiting class. At the event he ran a 7.70 second 60, 4.95 home-to-first and posted an exit velocity of 81 mph. During batting practice, Williams starts in a wide but athletic base, rhythm with hands, toe tap into a simple load, very quick hands, minimal head movement, showed hard contact to left field. In the infield, Williams moves well for his size, clean transfers, long arm action, high three-quarter release, positional velocity of 75 mph, mostly accurate throws.
