Sophomore OF Wil McCombs has had an excellent season for Labette in 2023. Through 186 plate appearances in 46 games, he has slashed .304/.429/.480 with 31 runs, 33 RBI, and 6 home runs, showing off his blend of power and contact skills. McCombs has been excellent defensively, with a .973 fielding percentage along with 2 outfield assists. He performed well at last fall’s Allen County and Labette CC Scout Day. McCombs showed off his strong arm with an 88.0 MPH throwing velocity, and his 98.6 MPH maximum exit velocity and 94.7 MPH average exit velocity indicate an ability to hit the ball hard and with consistency. His maximum hand and bat speeds of 26.9 and 80.3, respectively support the strong power that he has displayed this season, and his 1.58-second 10-yard dash indicates elite acceleration. With his strong performance this spring and at the showcase, McCombs should impress coaches at the next level.
