JUCO Uncommitted Spotlight - Colby Mitchell

Sophomore LHP Colby Mitchell has been a go to arm for the Labette Cardinals this spring. Mitchell has made 14 starts and 15 total appearences while posting a 9.13 ERA to go along with a 5-6 record on the mound in 67 innings pitched. He has allowed a .326 opponent batting average while striking out 68 and walking 39. He has also posted an impressive 9.13 strikeouts per game that showcases some of his swing and miss stuff. Mitchell also showed the ablilty to field his position with a 1.000 fielding percentage. At the Allen County & Labette CC Scout Day, Mitchell topped out at 85.7 on his fastball while sitting anywhere from 83-85 MPH with a 2152 average spin rate. His curveball averaged 74.2 MPH with an average movement of 14.5 inches. He also showcased a quality splitter with an average velo of 80.2 MPH and a sinker with an average velo of 84.4 MPH. With four high quality pitches, Colby has tremendous upside on the mound and should impress coaches at the next level.
