KS Uncommitted Spotlight: 1B Carson Wasinger

This fall and winter PBR will be highlighting some of the top uncommitted players in the 2023 and 2024 classes. Today, we take an in-depth look at 2024 1B Carson Wasinger. The Blue Valley North product is as long and projectable as they come at 6-foot-4, 210-pounds and knows how to use his levers at the dish. The right-handed hitter posted a top exit velo of 98 mph and average over 92 at the MOKAN Top Prospect Games this summer. Wasinger can also run (7.07 60) and has well above arm strength that should allow him to play not only at 1B, but in the OF as well.

Body: 6-4, 205-pounds. Physical and athletic build.
Hits: RHH. Starts with a slightly open stance and an upright posture. Hands get set tight to the body with a flat barrel angle. Two tap stride working to a wider base. Short rocking load onto the back leg. Lower half drives linearly through the zone into a firm front leg. Level bat path with a line drive approach. Manipulates the lower half to work underneath the ball.
Power: 98 max exit velocity, averaged 82.9 MPH. 352' max distance.
Arm: RH. INF-81 mph.Over the top arm slot with short arm action.
Defense: Attacks the ball with shorter footwork and body controlled. Fields the ball slightly deep into the body with developing glove action and a firm glove. Shows proper footwork around the bag.
