The Kansas high school season is nearing quickly, and we're here to cover it. Over the next several weeks, leading up to opening day, we’ll be publishing our team previews ahead of the 2023 spring season, touching on programs spanning all state classifications, leading into a countdown through the official PBR Kansas Preseason Power 20 Rankings.

We’ve submitted a Preseason Questionnaire to high school head coaches across the entire state. Their responses have been flooding in and we’re using the detailed insight they’ve provided in our team-by-team preseason analysis.

OUTLOOK

The Jaguars will lean heavily on their experience and deep pitching staff along with a solid defense. If they can find offensive consistency, they will be very difficult to beat day in and day out. The Jaguars also have one of the most talented freshman classes any team in KS has had in recent history. If some of those freshman can find there way into the mix consistently and effect games with their talent, Mill Valley could make a deep playoff run. 

IMPACT PLAYERS

Dylan Blazer P/2023 R/R -
Blazer was a top arm for the Jaguars last year, and they expect the same from him this upcoming season. Blazer posted 39 Innings/2.692 ERA with eight starts last season. The right-hander is committed to Kansas State.

Blake Neis P/2024 R/R
Neis will be entering his third year as a varsity arm for the Jaguars staff. Blake threw 27 innings for Mill Valley last year and posted a 3.63 ERA in seven starts. Coach Strickland expects Blake to take a huge jump for us this year on the mound. Blake is committed to Wichita State.

Grant Rutkowski P/OF/2023 L/L - Grant was the Jaguars most consistent arm last year posting a 1.145 ERA in 36 2/3 innings. He struck out 32 while only walking 8 hitters. Grant was also a fantastic defensive outfielder for Mill Valley. Look for Rutkowski to be featured in the next KS updated rankings. 

Adam Seymour OF/2024 L/L -
Adam played outstanding defense for Mill Valley last year and was also one of their most valuable at the plate with a .426 OBP. The Jags look forward to seeing Adam continue to improve during is junior campaign.

Parker Volski P/2023 L/L - Parker was very valuable for Jags on the mound last season, and got stronger as the season went on. Coach Strickland describes Parker as a leader and who's tough minded approach is invaluable to the program. Parker is committed to Barton County.
