KSHSAA Team Preview: Rock Creek

Andy Urban
KS/OK/MO/AR/CO/Creekside Scouting Supervisor

The Kansas high school season is nearing quickly, and we're here to cover it. Over the next several weeks, leading up to opening day, we’ll be publishing our team previews ahead of the 2023 spring season, touching on programs spanning all state classifications, leading into a countdown through the official PBR Kansas Preseason Power 20 Rankings.

We’ve submitted a Preseason Questionnaire to high school head coaches across the entire state. Their responses have been flooding in and we’re using the detailed insight they’ve provided in our team-by-team preseason analysis.

Team: Rock Creek Mustangs
League: Mid East League

2022 Record: 14-6 Lost in Regional Finals
Classification: 4A
Head Coach: Shane Sieben
Years at the Helm: 8

OUTLOOK

For Rock Creek, team speed is definitely a strength. They also return 100% of the innings pitched from last year lead by Vinduska and Ryker Zoeller. Defensively, we have 8 starters back with All League players Logan Sturdy (IF/P), Ethan Burgess (OF), and Maddox Ibarra (OF). The outfield has all 3 starters returning in Burgess, Ibarra and Brandon Krainbill. The one loss from last season was a heavy one, All State Catcher and three year starter Zac Becker (playing baseball at Coffeyville). His brother Drew (Sophomore) started at 2B last year and will move behind the dish this year.
