The Kansas high school season is nearing quickly, and we're here to cover it. Over the next several weeks, leading up to opening day, we’ll be publishing our team previews ahead of the 2023 spring season, touching on programs spanning all state classifications, leading into a countdown through the official PBR Kansas Preseason Power 20 Rankings.

We’ve submitted a Preseason Questionnaire to high school head coaches across the entire state. Their responses have been flooding in and we’re using the detailed insight they’ve provided in our team-by-team preseason analysis.

OUTLOOK

This Trojans team will look to capitalize on a great core of returning players and a deep lineup to lead them this season.

A top heavy rotation, with uncertainty at the bottom is something that this Topeka team will need to figure out for 2023. While the bottom of the rotation is in question, they can rely on senior Ty Votaw, and junior Hank Stamper to lead the way on the mound.

Elijah Kincade, C, 2023, 6'0, 210, R/R, Exit Velocity of 110mph, compact, powerful swing

Ty Votaw, OF/RHP, 2023, 6'3, 170, L/R, Textbook swing from the left side, Athletic enough to stick in the outfield, 82 mph off the mound with a good splitter

Peyton Wheat, OF, 2023, 6'0 215, R/R, Big, Strong bat with power, played Quarterback all four years so athletic and tracks balls well in the outfield

Hank Stamper, RHP/1B, 2024, 6'7, 225, R/R, Tops out at 85 right now but just coming into his body, will be a 90+ guy by the end of next season

Isaiah Kincade, OF, 2024, 6'1 200, R/R, Top tier athlete, 90 + pull down, big power and speed guy

Nate Plankinton, RHP/OF, 2024, 5'9, 180, R/R, Atheltic, great stuff off the mound, tops at 81mph, Father and brother are both 6'3 so assuming he will still grow

Matt Genrich, INF/C, 6'1, 190, R/R, polished and discipined hitter with power, smooth and capable infielder as well as behind the plate
