KSHSAA Team Preview: Wyandotte

Andy Urban
Regional Supervisor

The Kansas high school season is nearing quickly, and we're here to cover it. Over the next several weeks, leading up to opening day, we’ll be publishing our team previews ahead of the 2023 spring season, touching on programs spanning all state classifications, leading into a countdown through the official PBR Kansas Preseason Power 20 Rankings.

We’ve submitted a Preseason Questionnaire to high school head coaches across the entire state. Their responses have been flooding in and we’re using the detailed insight they’ve provided in our team-by-team preseason analysis.

Team: Wyandotte Bulldogs
League:
Meadowlark
2022 Record: 7-13
Classification: 6A
Head Coach: Patrick Groepper
Years at the Helm: 6

OUTLOOK

Wyandotte will be returning their number one hitter from last season in senior Jose Rodriguez Munoz who slashed 410/617/718 last season with 40 ABs as well as 29K in 18IP. Combine that with a returning 2 year starter in junior catcher Ricardo Mascorro Flores these two will help guide the newcomers to improve as the season moves along.

Wyandotte will be replacing 6 regular starters who graduated in 2022 or left the school due to transfers. The biggest concern being all 3 OF positions and pitching depth.
