Andy Urban
OK/MO/KS/AR/CO & Creekside Scouting Supervisor

As the fall comes to a close and move into the winter, Prep Baseball Report Kansas makes a moderate adjustment to the 2024 Class Rankings. While the top group stays mostly unchanged, we have added over 60 players and expended the list by 25 spots after seeing 100s of players this fall at events and at Creekside tournaments. We take a closer look into some of the biggest rankings risers and newcomers to the list in this update below.

Newcomers

Samuel Dew 3B / RHP / Blue Valley West, KS / 2024

Dew put up impressive numbers ate the Cavaliers Scout Day with a 6.69 60, 92 max exit velo, 86 avg exit velo, and was 82 across the infield. Offensively the right-handed hitter shows a compact swing with hand speed that will play at the next level. Defensively, at home on the infield now, his elite first 10 yard burst might make him a difference maker in the outfield.

Landon Haines 1B / RHP / Circle , KS / 2024

The 6-foot-2 right-handed hitting first baseman is strong from head to toe and showed off big pop in BP, but the small school right-hander's future might be brightest on the mound. Haines pounded the zone with a 4 pitch mix, running his four seam up to 86 multiple times, and has the frame to be a workhorse type starter at the next level.

Jack Dilley 3B / RHP / Olathe West, KS / 2024

At 6-foot-4, 210-pounds with broad shoulders, Dilley is one of the more physical players in this Kansas Class. To our eyes it is still uncertain which side of the ball Dilley will end up on, but the clean arm action and advanced curveball will catch the eye of may pitching coaches at the next level.

Riser

Yale Griffiths RHP / 1B / St. Thomas Aquinas, KS / 2024

Every time we see Griffiths, he seems to add arm strength and the Mac N Seitz showcase was no different. Griffiths ran his fastball up to 87 multiple times and pounded the zone with an advanced changeup as well.

Chris Mancinas SS / OF / Bishop Ward, KS / 2024

There is no better two way prospect in the state than Mancinas. The switch hitting shortstop is among the best defenders in the class and and shows barrel controll and some sneaky juice at the plate. On the mound, the right-hander pitches with polish well above his years. He features a fastball up to 88, an elite changeup, and  solid braking ball,  consistently commanding all three.

Richard Quinn Groebl 1B / 3B / Blue Valley North , KS / 2024

If you like power hitting left-handers, and we do, Groebl is your guy. The 6-foot-4 220 pounder was up to 101 in BP at the BTL scout day. As he continues to find more consistent barrels, expect to see Groebl continue to leap up the list.

Jack Naujokaitis SS / RHP / Olathe East, KS / 2024

At 5-foot-10, 160-pounds Naujokaitis does not scream offensive weapon stepping off of the bus, but the right-handed hitter produced easily the most impressive round of BP we saw at an event this year at the NBA scout day. Naujokaitis produced an average exit velo of 92 mph and a average of 95 with almost every one of the 10 pitches he saw leaving the yard to one of the gaps.

Will Burger OF / RHP / DeSoto, KS / 2024

A smaller framed athlete, Burger is not to be overlooked thanks to quick twitch athleticism throughout his game. A legitimate two-way prospect, the OF/RHP impressed in every facet at the Cavalier's scout day this fall. On the mound, Burger filed up the zone with a three pitch mix that included a fastball up to 84 and a breaking ball that will get both righties and lefties out. Offensively, he sprayed line drives (87 EV) around the cage with a compact swing that will play at the next level. Burger ran a sub 7 60, was 87 from the OF.
