Kansas Fall Prospect Games: Infield Reports

PBR Kansas hosted the KS Fall Prospect Games showcase at Kansas State University that featured 33 players from all across the state with players in the 2022 class to the 2025 class. Today we take a look at the 19 infielders that attended the event and their in-depth reports breaking down their frames, swing mechanics pre pitch and through contact, arm strength readings across the diamond, and 60's with data inserted from BP rounds collected by Trackman.   Full event stats and details from the event can be found by clicking here.

 

Tyner Horn, Eisenhower (KS), 2023 Wichita State Commit
Positional Profile: RHP/3B
Body: 6-0, 160-pounds. Athletic and wiry build with present strength and room for more in the future
Hit: LHH. Starts with a slightly open stance and athletic posture.  Hands get set at shoulder height tight to the body with a high back elbow.  Short knee knock stride into an athletic base.  Lower half works linearly through the zone into a slightly bent front leg.  Hands work tight to the body and inside the ball.  Level bat path with a line drive approach.  Hands work quickly through the zone and shows some strength at contact.
Power: 90.78 max exit velocity, averaged 83.85 mph. 289’ max distance.
Arm: RH.  INF - 90 mph. OF - 89 mph. High 3/4 arm slot with a clean arm action.
Defense:  pop times. In the infield attacks the ball with good routes and active feet.  Shows some lateral range with good glove action and soft hands.  In the outfield attacks the ball with shorter strides and controlled rhythm.  Fields the ball on the outside of the glove side leg with soft hands.  Utilizes a quick shuffle style crow hop technique with good momentum headed towards the target.
Run: 7.48 runner in the 60. 

TJ Coats, Blue Valley Southwest (KS), 2023
Positional Profile: 3B/RHP
Body: 6-1, 195-pounds. Physical and mature frame with present strength
Hit: RHH. Neutral stance with an upright posture.  Hands get set at shoulder height with a flat barrel angle.  Quick weight stack onto the back leg and utilizes a quick two tap stride with good rhythm and front foot getting down early.  Maintains balance and posture well throughout the swing. Has good overall bat speed and hands work quickly through the zone.  Short routes to the ball with hands working hard to the inside part of the ball.  Line drive approach and utilizes the middle of the field well.
Power: 95.6 max exit velocity, averaged 80.4 mph. 350’ max distance. Has good strength at contact with some leverage.
Arm: RH.  INF - 86 mph.  High 3/4 arm slot with a clean arm action and good hand speed.
Defense:  pop times. Attacks the ball with lateral routes and active feet.  Fields the ball out in front of the body with a feel for glove action and soft hands.  Shows good lateral range.  Good ability to change arm slots when the play dictates it.
Run: 7.19 runner in the 60. 
Pierce Wright, Olathe East (KS), 2022
Positional Profile: SS/RHP
Body: 6-2, 165-pounds. Long levered and lean frame with room for added strength and size in the future
Hit: RHH. Neutral stance with an athletic posture.  Hands get set at shoulder height tight to the body with a high back elbow and a 45 degree bat angle.  Strong weight shift into the back side with strong linear push with the lower half into a firm front leg.  Maintains balance and athleticism throughout the swing.  Knee knock stride with good rhythm.  Clean routes to the ball with the hands.  Plays the ball deep into the zone and works the hands to the inside part of the ball well.  Line drive approach and shows the ability to hit to all fields.
Power: 89.67 max exit velocity, averaged 85.13 mph. 316’ max distance. Hits with good leverage.
Arm: RH.  INF - 83 mph.  High 3/4 arm slot with a loose arm action.
Defense:  pop times. Attacks the ball with direct routes and longer strides.  Fields the ball in front of the body with developing glove action and a stiff glove.  Moves well laterally and fields the ball well on the move.
Run: 7.72 runner in the 60. 
Russell Lucas III, Shawnee Mission Northwest (KS), 2022
Positional Profile: SS/RHP
Body: 5-9, 185-pounds. Stocky build with strength in the lower half
Hit: RHH. Starts with a neutral stance and narrow base with upright posture.  Hands get set tight to the body at shoulder height with a vertical bat angle.  Short weight shift into a firm front leg.  Leg lift stride with linear direction with the lower half.  Level bat path and a line drive approach.  Hands work short and quick to the ball.  Utilizes the whole field.
Power: 86 max exit velocity, averaged 69.16 mph. 88’ max distance.
Arm: RH.  INF - 82 mph.  3/4 arm slot with a short and clean arm action.
Defense:  pop times. Attacks the ball with a feel for routes working around the ball and good rhythm.  Fields the ball with smooth feet and a feel for glove action and soft hands.  Clean exchanges out of the glove.
Run: 8.02 runner in the 60.

Jaron Brown, McPherson (KS), 2022
Positional Profile: SS/OF
Body: 6-0, 177-pounds. Athletic build with some present strength
Hit: RHH. Neutral stance with a wide base and upright posture.  Will show a no stride swing and and a traditional stride.  Hands get set just above shoulder height with a 45 degree bat angle.  Short shift into the back side with short linear direction in the lower half working to a firm front leg.  Direct routes to the ball with a flat bat path.  Line drive approach and uses the middle of the field well.  Strong rotational acceleration metrics getting the barrel moving quickly through the zone early.
Power: 88.87 max exit velocity, averaged 83.73 mph. 303’ max distance.
Arm: RH.  INF - 80 mph. OF - 81 mph. 3/4 arm slot with a loose arm action.
Defense:  pop times. Attacks the ball with smooth rhythm and easy routes around the ball.  Fields the ball out in front of the body with good glove action and soft hands.  Fields the ball on the move well with clean exchanges out of the glove.
Run: 7.03 runner in the 60. 
Carter Beach, Blue Valley Northwest (KS), 2024
Positional Profile: 2B/OF
Body: 5-10, 130-pounds. Lean and developing build with room for added strength and size in the future
Hit: RHH. Starts with a neutral stance and slightly crouched posture.  Hands get set deep into the body with a relaxed back elbow.  Short weight shift into a bent back leg with lower half working linearly into a bent front leg.   Hands work short to the ball with a level bat path.  Line drive approach with hands working hard to the inside part of the ball.  Strong top hand finish.
Power: 87.56 max exit velocity, averaged 81.61 mph. 304’ max distance.
Arm: RH.  INF - 79 mph. OF - 79 mph. 3/4 arm slot with hand working across the body at release.
Defense:  pop times. Attacks the ball with active feet and lateral routes around the ball.  Fields the ball out in front with developing glove action and soft hands.  Maintains body control throughout the fielding process and shows clean exchanges out of the glove.  In the outfield attacks the ball with controlled rhythm and shorter strides.  Fields the ball off the glove side leg with developing glove action and a high waist bend.  Utilizes a back knee driven forward crow hop technique with some momentum headed towards the target.
Run: 7.39 runner in the 60.

Keaton Vogelsberg, Blue Valley Northwest (KS), 2024
Positional Profile: 3B/RHP
Body: 5-10, 165-pounds. Lean and developing build with room for added strength and size in the future
Hit: RHH. Neutral stance with an athletic posture.  Hands get set early and quietly into position just below shoulder height with a tucked back elbow.  Strong weight stack onto the back side with a simple stride.  Lower half works linearly through the swing with good sync with the upper body. Linear path with the hands and a short and compact stroke.  Hands work well to the inside part of the ball.  Gets the barrel into the zone quickly and through contact.  Gets good extension with a level bat path.
Power: 88.86 max exit velocity, averaged 80.31 mph. 321’ max distance. Good feel for barrel in the zone with some strength at contact.
Arm: RH.  INF - 78 mph. OF - 77 mph. High 3/4 arm slot with a short arm action.
Defense:  pop times. In the infield attacks the ball with direct routes and active feet.  Shows some glove action and soft hands with a high waist bend.  Fields the ball on the run well with clean arm exchanges.  In the outfield fields the ball inside the glove side leg with two hands at times.  Utilizes a quick shuffle stride crow hop technique with slight momentum headed towards target.
Run: 7.68 runner in the 60. 
Cole Chinnock, Shawnee Mission East (KS), 2025
Positional Profile: OF/RHP
Body: 5-11, 170-pounds. Athletic and projectable build with room for added strength and size in the future
Hit: RHH. Slightly open stance with an athletic posture.  Hands get set below shoulder height with a 45 degree bat angle.  Quick load into the lower half and uses a short leg kick stride back to neutral.  Good weight shift in the lower half working linearly through the zone.   Rotational path with the hands with a slightly uphill bat path.  Line drive approach.  Slight lean back in the posture after contact.
Power: 92.12 max exit velocity, averaged 78.35 mph. 264’ max distance. Shows some strength at contact with the hands.
Arm: RH.  INF - 78 mph. OF - 80 mph. High 3/4 arm slot with a short and clean arm action.
Defense:  pop times. In the infield attacks the ball with a feel for routes working around the ball and active feet.  Fields the ball out in front with good glove action and soft hands.  Clean exchanges out of the glove.  In the outfield attacks the ball with controlled rhythm and shorter steps.  Fields the ball out in front of the glove side leg with some glove action.  Utilizes a quick shuffle crow hop technique with good momentum headed towards the target.
Run: 7.38 runner in the 60. 
Carson Wasinger, Blue Valley North (KS), 2024
Positional Profile: 3B/RHP
Body: 6-4, 190-pounds. Long levered and physical frame with present strength
Hit: RHH. Slightly open stance and upright posture.  Hands get set at shoulder height tucked tight to the body with a relaxed back elbow.  Leans weight directly over back foot and utilizes a quick two tap stride with short linear push in the lower half.  Works from a wide and balanced base.  Shows quick hands through the zone and good overall bat speed.  Flat bat path and strong pull side approach.  Gets good extension with longer levers. 
Power: 93.53 max exit velocity, averaged 88.78 mph. 348’ max distance. Pull side pop with power potential.
Arm: RH.  INF - 76 mph.  High 3/4 arm a lot with a short arm action. 
Defense:  pop times. Fields the ball out in front of the body with good glove action and soft hands.  Attacks the ball with active feet and proper footwork around the bag.  Clean and quick exchanges out of the glove and plays underneath the ball well.
Run: 7.07 runner in the 60.

Layne Sweat, Derby (KS), 2023
Positional Profile: 2B/OF
Body: 5-8, 125-pounds. Lean and developing build with room for added strength and size in the future
Hit: RHH. Starts with an open stance and athletic posture.  Hands get set below shoulder height with a high back elbow and slight arm bar posture.  Quick weight shift into the backside with lower half working linearly through the zone.   Slight uphill bat path with lean back in the posture at contact.  Tries to work the ball up in the air.  Hands show some quickness at times. 
Power: 82.36 max exit velocity, averaged 64.82 mph. 270’ max distance.
Arm: RH.  INF - 76 mph.  3/4 arm slot with hand working across the chest through release.
Defense:  pop times. Attacks the ball with direct routes and methodical footwork.  Shows some good lateral range.  Fields the ball with a high waist bend and developing glove action and a firm glove.
Run: 7.40 runner in the 60.

Boston Bruce, Atchison (KS), 2024
Positional Profile: 2B/C
Body: 5-7, 143-pounds. Lean and developing build with room for added strength and size in the future
Hit: RHH. Open stance with an athletic posture.  Works hands back at shoulder height with a high back elbow and slightly wrapped bat angle.  Quick leg kick stride with slight scissor kick finish with the lower half into a firm front leg. Hands work rotationally around the ball with a pullside approach.  Gets barrel into the zone quickly and stays on plane well with the pitch.
Power: 86.3 max exit velocity, averaged 82.17 mph. 312’ max distance.
Arm: RH. C - 72 mph. INF - 76 mph.  High 3/4 arm slot with a short arm action.
Defense: 1.90-2.04 pop times. Behind the plate shows quick transfers out of the glove with explosive feet and hips coming out of the crouch.  Throws had good carry and accuracy to the bag.  Strong receiving skills and shows good posture on blocks.  In the infield attacks the ball with active feet and lateral routes around the ball.  Clean exchanges out of the glove with a feel for glove action and soft hands.
Run: 7.83 runner in the 60.

Jonas Konrade, Lebo  (KS), 2022
Positional Profile: SS/OF
Body: 5-11, 185-pounds. Athletic build with some present strength
Hit: RHH. Starts with a neutral stance and upright posture.  Quick loads the hands to just above shoulder height and a slightly wrapped barrel.  Short load into the lower half and uses a quick traditional stride to a wider base.  Lower half works rotationally through the swing. Rotational path with the hands with an uphill bat path.  Tries to work the ball up in the air. Strong top hand finish.
Power: 90.63 max exit velocity, averaged 84.93 mph. 333’ max distance. Has some strength at contact.
Arm: RH.  INF - 74 mph. OF - 78 mph. High 3/4 arm slot with a short arm action.
Defense:  pop times. In the infield attacks the ball with lateral routes and active feet.  Fields the ball slightly deep into the body with a firm glove and developing glove action.  In the outfield attacks the ball with controlled rhythm and shorter strides.  Fields the ball out in front of the glove side leg with some glove action.  Utilizes a shuffle crow hop technique with slight momentum headed towards the target.
Run: 7.23 runner in the 60. 
Ryan Pierce, Derby  (KS), 2023
Positional Profile: SS/2B
Body: 5-4, 140-pounds. Lean and developing build with room for added strength and size in the future
Hit: SH. Slightly open stance with athletic posture.  Slow loads into the lower half with hands getting set quietly into position with a 45 degree bat angle.  Simple stride back to neutral with lower half working linearly into a firm front leg.  Similar set up and rhythm from both sides of the plate. Hands work short and direct to the ball with a line drive approach.  Level bat path with good balance through contact.
Power: 85.51 max exit velocity, averaged 79.61 mph. 284’ max distance. Gets most out of his swing with strong carry in the air
Arm: RH.  INF - 73 mph.  Over the top arm slot with a short arm action.
Defense:  pop times. Fields the ball out in front of the body with good glove action and soft hands.  Attacks the ball with smooth rhythm and a feel for working around the ball.  Fields the ball well on the run.
Run: 7.08 runner in the 60.

Jayden Good, Gardner-Edgerton (KS), 2024
Positional Profile: SS/RHP
Body: 5-10, 155-pounds. Lean and developing build with room for added strength and size in the future
Hit: RHH. Neutral stance with a simple set up with hands working quietly into position with a vertical bat angle.  Slow loads into the lower half with short weight shift into a slightly bent front leg.  Good balance throughout the swing.  Hands work short and compact to the ball.  Takes good routes to the ball with the hands working hard to the inside part of the ball.  Linear direction with the hands with a strong top hand two hand finish.
Power: 83.95 max exit velocity, averaged 78.21 mph. 256’ max distance. Will see more power as he continues to add strength to frame.
Arm: .  INF - 73 mph.  High 3/4 arm slot with a short arm action.
Defense:  pop times. Understands angles well and attacks the ball with aggressive footwork and routes working around the ball.  Fields the ball out in front of the body with good glove action and soft hands.  Clean transfers out of the glove and maintains body control throughout the fielding process.
Run: 7.76 runner in the 60. 
Logan Harley Smith, Shawnee Mission South (KS), 2024
Positional Profile: C/RHP
Body: 5-9, 140-pounds. Lean and developing build with room for added strength and size in the future
Hit: RHH. Slightly open stance with an athletic posture.  Hands get set just above shoulder height with a 45 degree bat angle.  Quick weight shift into the lower half with a simple stride slight scissor kick action with the back foot. Linear routes with the hands and utilizes the middle of the field well.  Level bat path and a line drive approach.
Power: 80.36 max exit velocity, averaged 71.28 mph. 224’ max distance.
Arm: RH. C - 69 mph. INF - 73 mph.  High 3/4 arm slot with a short arm action.
Defense: 2.11-2.26 pop times. Behind the plate receives the ball with one knee in the dirt and a firm glove.  Pre turns body on throws to second with quick feet out of the crouch and an average release.  Throws had good carry to the bag.  In the infield likes to let the ball come to him with direct routes and short and choppy footwork.  Shows some glove action and soft hands.  Clean exchanges out of the glove.
Run: 8.12 runner in the 60. 
AJ Kreutzer, Oskaloosa  (KS), 2022
Positional Profile: 1B/LHP
Body: 6-1, 175-pounds. Long levered and projectable build with room for added strength and size in the future
Hit: LHH. Starts with a neutral stance and wide base with an athletic posture.  Hands get set quickly back deep with a slight arm bar posture and high back elbow.  Short leg lift stride into a narrow stance with lower half working rotationally into a firm front leg.  Rotational path with the hands working around the ball.  Swings with some leverage and an uphill bat path.  Looks to work the ball up in the air.  Hands work quickly through the zone.
Power: 83.01 max exit velocity, averaged 79.42 mph. 297’ max distance.
Arm: LH.  INF - 70 mph.  Over the top arm slot with a long arm action.
Defense:  pop times. Attacks the ball with short and choppy footwork and direct routes to the ball.  Does a good job of maintaining body control throughout the fielding process.  Fields the ball with a feel for glove action and soft hands.
Run: 7.49 runner in the 60.

Abram Huaracha, St Marys (KS), 2023
Positional Profile: 3B/2B
Body: 6-0, 170-pounds. Long and lean build with room for added strength and size in the future
Hit: RHH. Slightly open stance with an athletic posture.  Hands get set above shoulder height with a slightly wrapped barrel and high back elbow.  Strong weight stack onto the back leg and utilizes a leg kick stride to a wider base. Hands work hard to the inside part of the ball.  Heavy lean back in the posture at contact.  Shows the ability to use the entire field.
Power: 85.55 max exit velocity, averaged 77.62 mph. 225’ max distance.
Arm: RH.  INF - 70 mph.  3/4 arm slot with a stiff arm action and hand working across the body at release.
Defense:  pop times. Attacks the ball with active feet and direct routes.  Plays underneath the ball well and fields with a sure glove.  Good body control throughout the fielding process.
Run: 7.31 runner in the 60.

Gunnar Lewis, Hesston (KS), 2024
Positional Profile: SS/RHP
Body: 5-10, 155-pounds. Lean and developing build with room for added strength and size in the future
Hit: RHH. Slightly closed stance with weight pre-shifted into the back leg.  Crouched posture with a vertical bat angle and high back elbow.  Leg kick stride with weight shifting to the front heel. Slight uphill path with the hands and strong lean back in the posture after contact.  Works the hands hard to the inside part of the ball.
Power: 81.74 max exit velocity, averaged 71.35 mph. 157’ max distance.
Arm: RH.  INF - 66 mph.  High 3/4 arm slot with a long arm action
Defense:  pop times. Fields the ball with lateral routes and active/choppy footwork.  Clean exchanges out of the glove with a feel for glove action and soft hands.
Run: 7.59 runner in the 60. 
Ashton McCurdy, Ottawa (KS), 2025
Positional Profile: SS/2B
Body: 5-6, 120-pounds. Lean and developing build with room for added strength and size in the future
Hit: RHH. Open stance with an upright posture.  Hands get set below shoulder height with a vertical bat angle.  Slow loads into the back leg with a short stride.   Hands work hard to the inside part of the ball with a line drive approach.  Slight lean back in the posture at contact.  Developing hand strength and bat speed.
Power: 73.28 max exit velocity, averaged 63.61 mph. 182’ max distance.
Arm: RH.  INF - 64 mph.  3/4 arm slot with a loose arm action
Defense:  pop times. Fields the ball with active feet and smooth rhythm.  Shows a feel for routes working around the ball and fields with some glove action and soft hands.  Fields the ball well on the run.
