Prep Baseball Report is excited for the return of Player of the Year Awards, presented by Big League Chew, after the 2020 season was cut short and 2021 generated some incredible individual moments and performances throughout Kansas. As the spring high school season comes to a close, Prep Baseball Report is excited to announce one player who emerged ahead of the competition at all levels in the state. This player has been selected not only for their outstanding statistical numbers, but also for their overall effect on their high school program.

Carson Liggett

One of the more consistent and durable front-line arms the state of Kansas has had, Carson Liggett put up huge numbers to lead his team to a 6A title and earning him the Prep Baseball Report Player of the Year.  He made his presence known especially during the 6A State Tournament where he pitched in all three games including closing out the final 5 innings in the Championship game.  Liggett was the best player on one of the most dominate teams the State of Kansas has seen with a perfect 9-0 record and an eye-popping 92 strikeouts in 61 innings.  He showed himself to be one of the most durable arms and his competitiveness shined brightest in the postseason.

Carson Liggett’s all-around performance, as well as the impact he has had on Blue Valley HS, has earned him the 2021 Prep Baseball Report Kansas Player of the Year honors.

Carson Liggett has been selected by the staff of Prep Baseball Report of Kansas. The team of PBR area scouts who covered the high school baseball season throughout the spring selected Carson Liggett amongst a strong group of candidates from across the state. The Prep Baseball Report staff has been diligently scouting and covering games at diamonds across the state this spring to bring parents, athletes and fans the most comprehensive coverage of amateur baseball across the United States. The dedication and coverage allow Prep Baseball Report a credible way to identify the top athletes each year who best represent the state of Kansas.
