Mason Green (Olathe Northwest, 2017) is an athletic-framed 5-foot-11, 165-pound left-handed pitcher and has committed to Central Missouri to continue his career in baseball.

Green has an athletic delivery with rhythm, turns/tucks at balance, and has a three-quarters arm slot.  He has easy arm action, and finishes square with body control throughout his delivery.

His fastball has arm-side run, and at times shows late life at 82-85 mph with a high number of strikes. He has a controllable 1/7 breaking ball at 70-71 mph and can shorten up for strikeout pitch at 73 mph. His change-up runs arm-side with fastball arm speed, 70-73 mph.

Here is a look inside the recruiting process for Mason Green.

PBR: What were your expectations about the recruiting process? Was it as expected? Easy/Difficult?

Green: I was very prepared for my recruiting process with the help of my summer coach Scott Jones and Brian Holman with Natural Baseball Academy. My recruiting process was pretty easy, I struggled through a minor injury my sophomore year which set me back a little bit, but luckily one of the first schools that had interest in me, I had been interested in also which made everything a lot easier.

PBR: Did location or distance from home play a factor in your decision?

Green: Yes distance did play a factor, I wanted to stay relatively close to my family so that they can come watch me play.

PBR: Where did Central Missouri first see you? How did your relationship develop with them?

Green: Central Missouri first saw me at their annual fall camp when I was a Sophomore and then at an indoor event hosted by Natural Baseball Academy through complete showcase camps. Our relationship really started when I attended their fall camp again the following year as a junior. I really clicked with the coaching staff and the overall program that Central Missouri has.

PBR: Who is the best player you have faced in your state, and why?

Green: Joey Wentz, with his size and power from the mound and the plate, he over powered in every category of the game along with his nasty off speed.

PBR: What advice would you give to young baseball players striving to get where you are?

Green: The advice I would give younger players is to never stop working. Even when you seem to have it all, keep getting better and work hard towards your goals. Also, be open minded towards every option available. Do what's is best for YOU, not everyone else around you.

PBR: What do you do in the offseason to keep yourself in baseball shape and prepare for the upcoming season?

Green: I workout at PSP3 with Nathan Hemphill in the off season.

PBR: What is the most memorable moment in your baseball career to this point?

Green: The most memorable moment in my baseball career was probably over the last summer going down to Houston for the first ever Marucci World Series. Very much a world class event.

PBR: What do you like most about Central Missouri and what were the key factors in making your decision?

Green: What I like most about Central Missouri is the coaching staff and the rich baseball tradition. It is about a hour away from my home and they have my major, (aviation) which is rare which made my school options very limited. All in all it was a perfect fit and I'm very thankful my recruiting process went so smoothly.

PBR: What other schools were on your short list before you made your final decision?

Green: I had no other schools on my short list, Central Missouri was my first connection and It was the perfect match, we`ve had a very strong connection from the beginning.

PBR: When did the recruiting process really start to heat up for you? Was there a particular game or event that you feel turned the corner for you?

Green: I would say the fall of my junior year everything truly came full circle for me after I attended Central Missouri`s fall camp.

PBR: Preview your high school season for us. How do you feel your team will be? What are your expectations and goals?

Green: This season for Olathe Northwest we are returning a few key leaders in our program with varsity experience. We look to make a run in the Sunflower league this year and hopefully we can bring home a state championship for our first in school history. Personally, I plan on soaking up every second on the field this year and make the most of it to the best of my ability.

PBR: Where do you play in the summer? And what has been your most memorable experience with them?

Green: I play with Natural Baseball Academy in Olathe, Kansas. Led by Coach Scott Jones and Brian Holman. I don`t have a specific moment that was above all else with Natural. Every moment was great and I want to thank Scott and Brian for taking me in and not only making me the player I am today but, for making me the young man i am today.
