The Barn Scout Day: Infield Analysis

Prep Baseball Report Kansas held the Barn Scout Day on January 13 at The Barn Baseball Facility in Manhattan, Kansas.  Nearly thirty players participated in the 2022 to 2018 classes from around the area.

Player profiles have been updated with running times and velocities along with a video of their performance.

Players can now updated their profiles with a 
ProspectPlus subscription, while scouts and recruiters can add players on ScoutPlus.

Here is a closer look at the infielders from the event. 

Infielders

Jack Campbell OF / SS / Manhattan, KS / 2022

Campbell is a 5-foot-7 130-pound right-handed hitting shortstop in Kansas’ 2022 class. He ran a 4.37 home to first and has a 72 mph exit velocity. At the plate, starts in an opens stance with rhythm in his hands, sits in back leg to load, level swing path through the zone with one handed finish.  On the infield, short high three quarters arm slot, quick transfer and release, fields ball in athletic position, smooth actions, catches and throws in fluid motion, 69 mph positional velocity.

Coy Cavender RHP / 3B / Manhattan , KS / 2022

Cavender is a 6-foot 135-pound right-handed hitting third baseman in Kansas’ 2022 class. He ran a 4.60 home to first and has an exit velocity of 80 mph.  At the plate, balanced stance, loud rhythm in hands, short leg lift with in line stride, aggressive swing, gap to gap line drives hitting evals.  On the infield, 71 mph infield velocity, high three quarters arm slot, short arm circle, clean transfer on time with footwork, mostly accurate throws.

Braden Dinkel SS / C / Manhattan, KS / 2022

Dinkel is a 5-foot-7 145-pound right-handed hitting shortstop in Kansas’ 2022 class. He ran a 4.19 home to first with an 80 mph exit velocity. At the plate, starts in an open stance, thrythm in hands, slight rotation in hips and hands to load, short and in line stride, slight lift to bat path, consistent contact to middle and pull side of the field. On the infield, 70 mph positional velocity, active footwork working behind and through the ball, clean exchange, creates momentum to first before field ball, three quarters arm slot.

Gunner Ebert 2B / SS / Rock Creek, KS / 2020

Ebert is a 5-foot-10 150-pound right-handed hitting second baseman in Kansas’ 2020 class.  He ran a 4.30 home to first and and has an 82 mph positional velocity. At the plate, balanced stance, works down into his legs to lead, quick tempo, in line stride, level swing, gap to gap approach.  On the infield, quick footwork and soft hands, quick catch and throw, high three quarters arm slot, exchange on time with footwork to throw, 69 mph positional velocity.

Tyler Gerety SS / OF / Nemaha Central, KS / 2021

Gerety is an athletically built 5-foot-11 180-pound right-handed hitting shortstop in Kansas’ 2021 class. He ran a 4.15 home to first and had a 90 mph exit velocity. Gerety is a good combination of speed an power with more in the tank down the road.  At the plate, starts in open stance with little wasted movement in swing, raises leg slightly under control, in line stride, quick and explosive hand speed, loose with bat whip, level though the swing, gap to gap contact, repeatable swing. On the infield, 86 mph positional velocity, short over the top arm slot, gains ground with footwork through the ball, clean exchange, mostly accurate throws.

Avery Holle 3B / RHP / Riley County, KS / 2021

Holle is a 6-foot 185-pound right-handed hitting third baseman in Kansas’ 2021 class.  He ran a 4.44 home to first and has an 84 mph exit velocity.  At the plate, balanced stance, toe tap with some hand load, in line stride, level bat path, swing produced line drives gap to gap, balanced and repeatable swing.  On the infield, 78 mph positional velocity, high three quarters arm slot, quick release with quick exchange, fields ball in athletic position soft hands on time with smooth footwork. 

Connor Holle 1B / LHP / Riley County, KS / 2021

Holle is a 6-foot 200-pound right-handed hitting first baseman Kansas’ 2021 class.  He ran a 4.47 home to first and has an 84 mph exit velocity.  At the plate, balanced set up, slight rhythm in hands pre pitch, minimal load, power to the pull side, gap to gap contact during hitting evals, slight lift to bat path, aggressive swing.  On the infield, 74 mph positional velocity, short high three quarters arm slot, attacks the ball with quick feet, creates momentum to throw after the catch, clean catch and throw.

Domenic Huber SS / RHP / Manhattan, KS / 2020

Huber is a 5-foot-11 140-pound right-handed hitting shortstop in Kansas’ 2020 class.  He ran a 4.60 home to first and has a 73 mph exit velocity.  At the plate, open stance, weight shift to back side to load, toe tap to in line stride, smooth acceleration, level bat path, stays balance during swing, gap to gap line drives.  On the infield, three quarters arms lot, fields ball in athletic position, clean transfer with quick release, controlled and smooth actions, mostly accurate throws, 73 mph positional velocity.

Kolden Howerton C / 3B / Seaman, KS / 2021

Howerton is a 5-foot-10 165-pound left-handed hitting third baseman in Kansas’ 2021 class. He ran a 4.10 home to first and had an 87 mph exit velocity. At the plate, starts slightly closed in stance and remains slightly close in stride, pre pitch rhythm in body and hands, slight hand load, loose hands with level path, high finish, mostly middle of the field contact. On the infield, 79 mph positional velocity, high three quarters arm slot, fields ball in athletic finish, feet and exchange in sync, soft hands with quick release, mostly accurate throws.

Tyler Machor C / 1B / Manhattan, KS / 2022

Machor is a tall and lean 6-foot-2 185-pound right-handed hitting first baseman in Kansas’ 2022 class. He ran a 4.34 home to first and had an 89 mph exit velocity. At the plate, tall and slightly open in set up, simple load with no wasted movement in hands, controlled and line stride, accelerated bat speed, level though the zone, flashed pull side power. On the infield, high three quarters release, smooth actions with clean exchange and quick release, 73 mph positional velocity.

Keigan McNulty 2B / RHP / Riley County, KS / 2021

McNulty is a 5-foot-9 140-pound right-handed hitting second baseman in Kansas’ 2021 class.  He ran a 4.59 home to first and has a 76 mph exit velocity.  At the plate, simple and accelerated swing, starts in balanced set up, minimal load, in line stride, feel for barrel, swing produced gap to gap line drives.  On the infield, three quarters arm slot, aggressive to the ball with footwork, quick exchange and throw, fields ball in athletic position ready to throw, clean transfer, 66 mph positional velocity.

Jaden Moon OF / RHP / Manhattan, KS / 2021

Moon is a 5-foot-4 150-pound right-handed hitting infielder in Kansas’ 2021 class. He ran a 4.95 home to first and has an 81 mph exit velo. At the plate, starts in tall and balanced stance, loud rhythm in hands, sits in lower half to load, open stride, aggressive swing, mostly pull to middle of the field contact. On the infield, 73 mph positional velocity, three quarters arm slot, fluid actions, fields and throws in one fluid motion, smooth transfer and throw on time with footwork

Hayden Nutsch RHP / 3B / Wamego, KS / 2022

Nutsch is a 6-foot 130-pound right-handed hitting third baseman in Kansas’ 2022 class. He ran a 4.40 home to first and had an 83 mph exit velocity. At the plate, balanced stance, slight weight shift into back side to load, minimal hand load, balanced swing, level path with feel for the barrel, gap to gap line drives. On the infield, 68 mph positional velocity, short high three quarters arm slot, quick to the ball with footwork, quick transfer and throw, clean exchange, mostly accurate throws.

Cade Perkins LHP / 1B / Manhattan , KS / 2022

Perkins is a 6-foot 160-pound left-handed hitting first baseman in Kansas’ 2022 class.  He ran a 4.28 home to first and has an 81 mph exit velocity. At the plate, starts in a tall stance, slightly open, some rhythm in hands, short and closed stride, mostly middle of the field contact. On the infield, 71 mph positional velocity, short high three quarters arm slot, aggressive to the ball off the the bag at first base, clean exchange with quick release.

Marccus Wallace 3B / RHP / Manhattan , KS / 2021

Wallace is a 6-foot-1 155-pound right-handed hitting third baseman in Kansas’ 2021 class.  He ran a 4.40 home to first and has an 82 mph positional velocity.  At the plate, open stance, quick tempo with toe tap and slightly open stride, short to contact with high finish in hands, quick bat speed, stays balanced, middle to pull side contact.  On the infield, high three quarters arms slot, 69 mph positional velocity, controlled actions, footwork creates momentum through the catch, quick release after catch, mostly accurate throws.
