The Barn Scout Day: Outfielder Analysis

Prep Baseball Report Kansas held the Barn Scout Day on January 13 at The Barn Baseball Facility in Manhattan, Kansas.  Nearly thirty players participated in the 2022 to 2018 classes from around the area.

Player profiles have been updated with running times and velocities along with a video of their performance.

Players can now updated their profiles with a 
ProspectPlus subscription, while scouts and recruiters can add players on ScoutPlus  

 

Outfielders

Jack Campbell OF / SS / Manhattan, KS / 2022

Campbell is a 5-foot-7 130-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Kansas’ 2022 class. He ran a 4.37 home to first and has a 72 mph exit velocity. At the plate, starts in an opens stance with rhythm in his hands, sits in back leg to load, level swing path through the zone with one handed finish. In the outfield, 72 mph positional velocity, high three quarters arm slot with momentum working behind and through the catch, transfer on time with smooth footwork, lean build with long limbs, projectable for strength as he continues to develop.

Tyler Gerety SS / OF / Nemaha Central, KS / 2021

Gerety is an athletically built 5-foot-11 180-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Kansas’ 2021 class. He ran a 4.15 home to first and had a 90 mph exit velocity. Gerety is a good combination of speed an power with more in the tank down the road.  At the plate, starts in open stance with little wasted movement in swing, raises leg slightly under control, in line stride, quick and explosive hand speed, loose with bat whip, level though the swing, gap to gap contact, repeatable swing.  In the outfield, high three quarters arm slot, loose arm action, aggressive attacking ball, clean exchanges, works through the ball with momentum from footwork, 87 mph outfield velocity.

Kyler Hahn OF / RHP / Manhattan, KS / 2022

Hahn is a 5-foot-11 155-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Kansas’ 2022 class.  At the plate, starts with tall open stance and bat on shoulder, loads hand with in line stride in lower half,  controlled swing, stays under control, hands manage the bat, has range to cover the entire zone, feel for barrel.  In the outfield, high three quarters arm slot, smooth and controlled actions, works though the ball with footwork, clean exchanges, 73 mph positional velocity.

Ethan Hilgendorf OF / RHP / Washburn Rural, KS / 2019

Hilgendorf is a 6-foot 170-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Kansas’ 2019 class. He ran a 4.34 home to first and had an 86 mph exit velocity. At the plate, Starts in a wide base, slightly open, minimal load, stays balanced, stays on plane of the pitch through extension, gap to gap line drives.  In the outfield, high three quarters release, aggressive with footwork playing though the ball, quick exchange and release, 83 mph positional velocity.

Hunter Jones OF / RHP / Manhattan , KS / 2020

Jones is a long and lean 6-foot-3 155-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Kansas’ 2020 class. He ran a 4.25 home to first and had an 82 mph exit velo. At the plate, open stance, loads with weight shift to back side and hand separation, swing produced gap to gap line drives, high finish.  In the outfield, loose high three quarters arm slot, quick exchange, long arm circle with small crow hop, 73 mph positional velocity.

Jaden Moon OF / RHP / Manhattan, KS / 2021

Moon is a 5-foot-4 150-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Kansas’ 2021 class. He ran a 4.95 home to first and has an 81 mph exit velo. At the plate, starts in tall and balanced stance, loud rhythm in hands, sits in lower half to load, open stride, aggressive swing, mostly pull to middle of the field contact.  In the outfield, high three quarters arm slot, clean exchange, smooth actions with fluid footwork, 73 mph positional velocity.

Hayden Nutsch RHP / 3B / Wamego, KS / 2022

Nutsch is a 6-foot 130-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Kansas’ 2022 class. He ran a 4.40 home to first and had an 83 mph exit velocity. At the plate, balanced stance, slight weight shift into back side to load, minimal hand load, balanced swing, level path with feel for the barrel, gap to gap line drives.  In the outfield, high three quarters arm slot, moves through the ball with exchange and momentum in feet, controlled actions, 71 mph positional velocity, long and lean build with upside.

Cade Perkins LHP / 1B / Manhattan , KS / 2022

Perkins is a 6-foot 160-pound left-handed hitting outfielder in Kansas’ 2022 class.  He ran a 4.28 home to first and has an 81 mph exit velocity. At the plate, starts in a tall stance, slightly open, some rhythm in hands, short and closed stride, mostly middle of the field contact.  In the outfield, short high three quarters arm slot, quick catch and transfer, quick to the ball with footwork, plays through the catch, 78 mph positional velocity.

Owen Reynolds OF / LHP / Eisenhower, KS / 2021

Reynolds is a 5-foot-11 145-pound left-handed hitting outfielder in Kansas’ 2021 class.  He ran a 4.27 home to first and has an 89 mph exit velocity. At the plate, starts in a wide base, minimal stride, hands slightly walk away from stride, has feel for barrel, level bat path, stays through contact, balanced swing, gap to gap line drives.  In the outfield, quick catch and throw, athletic movements, over the top arm slot, footwork on time with exchange, 83 mph positional velocity.

Caden Vinduska OF / RHP / Rock Creek, KS / 2021

Vinduska is a long limbed 6-foot-2 165-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Kansas’ 2021 class. He ran a 4.16 home to first and has an 87 mph exit velocity. At the plate, balanced set up, rhythm in hands, quick leg lift with hand load, level path through the hitting zone, swing produced mostly pull to middle of the field line drives.  In the outfield, high three quarters arm slot, clean transfer, plays through the ball 78 mph positional velocity.

Brooks Whaley OF / RHP / Rock Creek, KS / 2021

Whaley is a 5-foot-9 150-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Kansas’ 2021 class. He ran a 4.47 home to first and has a 78 mph exit velocity. At the plate, tall and open stance, toe tap to in line stride, hands load with stride, stays in lower half, some lift to bat path, middle to pull side line drives, high finish.  In the outfield, arm works, loose over the top arm action, catches and throws in one fluid movement, works through the ball, fluid footwork, 81 mph positional velocity.
