The Barn Scout Day: Pitchers Analysis

Prep Baseball Report Kansas held the Barn Scout Day on January 13 at The Barn Baseball Facility in Manhattan, Kansas.  Nearly thirty players participated in the 2022 to 2018 classes from around the area.

Player profiles have been updated with running times and velocities along with a video of their performance.

Players can now updated their profiles with a 
ProspectPlus subscription, while scouts and recruiters can add players on ScoutPlus.

Here is a closer look at the Pitchers from the event.

Pitchers

Coy Cavender RHP / 3B / Manhattan , KS / 2022

Lavender is a 6-foot 135-pound right-handed pitcher in Kansas 2022 class. Cavendar comes from a high three quarters arm lot, slight rotation in hips during leg lift, lands slightly open, finishes in athletic position, fastball worked 72-75 mph, breaking ball was 60-64 mph, gradual 12-to-6 action, change up at 60-63 mph.

Ethan Hilgendorf OF / RHP / Washburn Rural, KS / 2019

Hilgendorf is a 6-foot 170-pound right-handed pitcher in Kansas’ 2019 class. Hilgendorf works from a high three quarters arm slot, smooth and controlled, works in line down the mound, falls slight to 1B on finish, fastball at 74-78 mph, curveball has 12-to-5 action, 68-69 mph, throws change up with near fastball arm speed, slight sinking action, 67-69 mph.

Connor Holle 1B / LHP / Riley County, KS / 2021

Holle is a 6-foot 200-pound left-handed pitcher in Kansas’ 2021 class. Holle lands slightly across his body, smooth leg lift, accelerates down the mound, high three quarters arm slot, fastball worked 75-79 mph, slight run, worked mostly arm side, breaking ball had 2-to-8 shape, 68-71 mph, late action, change up has slight arm side run, 68-69 mph.

Kolden Howerton C / 3B / Seaman, KS / 2021

Howerton is a 5-foot-10 165-pound right-handed pitcher in Kansas’ 2021 class. Howerton has an over the top arm slot, aggressive down the mound, loose arm action, creates good direction with stride, hides ball well until release, fastball worked, 78-82 mph, occasional running action, 11-to-5 action on breaking ball, will land for strike, 66-69 mph, change up 73-78 mph, slight fade, near fastball arm action.

Hunter Jones OF / RHP / Manhattan , KS / 2020

Jones is a long limbed 6-foot-3 155-pound right-handed pitcher in Kansas’ 2020 class. Jones throws with regular effort from a high three quarters arm slot, controlled delivery, repeatable, in line stride, lands in athletic finish, fastball at 69-71 mph, curveball has gradual 12-to–6 action, 62-70 mph, change up thrown with near fastball arm speed, 62-68 mph, projection on build and arm action.

Tyler Machor C / 1B / Manhattan, KS / 2022

Machor is a 6-foot-2 185-pound right-handed pitcher in Kansas’ 2022 class. Machor throws with regular effort, sweeping three quarters arm slot, repeats release, works in line down the mound, fastball at 75-78 mph, some with two-seam action, breaking ball 63-68 mph, 11-to-5 shape, change up at 69-71 mph.

Keigan McNulty 2B / RHP / Riley County, KS / 2021

McNulty is a 5-foot-9 140-pound right-handed pitcher in Kansas’ 2021 class. McNulty has a short arm circle with a high three quarters arm slot, throws with regular effort, stays in line down the mound, fastball at 64-68 mph, breaking ball has gradual 11-to-5 shape, 57-65 mph, change up flashes sink with fastball arm speed, 62-64 mph.

Jaden Moon OF / RHP / Manhattan, KS / 2021

Moon is a 5-foot-4 150-pound right-handed pitcher in Kansas’ 2021 class. Moon has a drop and drive type delivery, high three quarters arm slot, throws with regular effort, lands in line down the mound in a position ready to field the ball, fastball at 70-73 mph, breaking ball was sharp at times, 12-to-6 shape, 55-560 mph, change up at 64-68 mph.

Hayden Nutsch RHP / 3B / Wamego, KS / 2022

Nutsch is a 6-foot- 130-pound right-handed pitcher in Kansas’ 2022 class. Nutsch has a smooth leg lift and in line stride, throws with some effort at release, in line down the mound, high three quarters arm slot, fastball at 70-72 mph, curveball has 57-59 mph, late 12-to-6 action, change up has slight arm side run, 65-66 mph, lean frame with upside for strength.

Tylar Pere C / RHP / Junction City , KS / 2022

Pere is a 5-foot-9 right-handed pitcher in Kansas’ 2022 class. Pere has an athletic delivery, loose arm action, high three quarters arm slot, smooth and accelerated down the mound, fastball at 76-79 mph, some with late running action, breaking ball 65-70 mph, occasionally sharp and late, works bottom of zone, change up had late arm side run, 73-77 mph.

Cade Perkins LHP / 1B / Manhattan , KS / 2022

Perkins is a 6-foot 160-pound left-handed pitcher in Kansas’ 2022 class. Perkins comes from a high three quarters arm slot, throws with regular effort, creates smooth in line direction down the mound, fastball worked the bottom of the zone at 76-78 mph, breaking ball had 2-to-8 shape at 64-69 mph, late movement, change up flashed occasional arm side sink 65-70 mph.

Calvin Renter RHP / 3B / Manhattan, KS / 2021

Renter is a 5-foot-9 155-pound right-handed pitcher in Kansas’ 2021 class. Renter has a long and lean frame, controlled delivery, in line stride, over the top arm slot, fastball at 60-63 mph, curveball showed gradual 12-to-6 action, 56-63 mph, throws change up with fastball arm speed, 54-56 mph, slight sink.

Owen Reynolds OF / LHP / Eisenhower, KS / 2021

Reynolds is a 5-foot-11 145-pound left-handed pitcher in Kansas’ 2021 class. Reynolds has an athletic delivery with quick arm speed, body stays under under control in line down the mound, over the top release, arm works, fastball has late life, 82-84 mph, throws for strikes, breaking ball has sharp 2-to-8 shape, 70-73 mph, has command and feel, change up at 71-75 mph, throws with near fastball arm speed, commands down in the zone, slight sinking action, more in tank as he continues to develop physically.

Caden Vinduska OF / RHP / Rock Creek, KS / 2021

Vinduska 6-foot-2 165-pound right-handed pitcher in Kansas’ 2021 class. Vinduska throws with some effort at release, long arm circle out of the glove, in line direction down the mound, lanky build with projection, fastball at 73-77 mph, 12-to-6 breaking ball 64-68 mph, sharp at times, change up works mostly arm side at 68-71 mph, slight running action.
