Shon Plack
Kansas Scouting Director

If you were anxiously waiting the arrival of Kansas High School baseball, it will officially kick off today. The Blue Valley Tigers will host the Shawnee Mission East Lancers to open the 2016 season at Blue Valley West HS.  The Lancers are ranked #2 in the MOKAN Power 25 poll and the Tigers are ranked #6.  Both teams have top rated players drawing professional scout attention.

The pitching match-up will draw big attention as well.  The Lancers will send the #5 overall ranked player in PBR and Virginia commit Joey Wentz to the mound, while the Tigers will have another top ranked LHP take the mound in Kansas State Commit Will Brennan, the 8th ranked player in Kansas.

The game will also feature players with commitments to several area schools.  Blue Valley has two other players in the 2016 class committed to Kansas State in SS Gunner Halter and 2B Tanner Fox.  Senior RHP AJ Johnson (SIU-Edwardsville) and junior LHP/1B Daniel Hegarty (Kansas) also carry Division 1 commitments.

The Lancers will also have top area players on display in the their 2017 class.  Junior RHP Zeb Vermillion is an Arkansas commit, OF Jake Randa is a Western Kentucky commit while junior INF/RHP Luke Anderson is a Mizzou commit.
