Prep Baseball Report Missouri/Kansas held the Top Prospect Games - MOKAN August 11 at the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg, Missouri.  Over 30 players from the region attended in the 2020 and 2021 class.

Player profiles have been updated with running times and velocities along with a video of their performance. 

Players can now updated their profiles with a 
ProspectPlus subscription, while scouts and recruiters can add players on ScoutPlus.

Here is a closer look at the Catchers from the event, listed in alphabetical order.

Riley Bush, C, Baxter Springs (KS), 2021
Bush is a long and lean 6-foot-2 185-pound right-handed hitting catcher in Kansas’ 2021 class.  He ran a 7.20 60 and a 4.83 home to first.  He had an 87 mph exit velocity.  At the plate, tall and square set up, slight hand movement for rhythm, starts slightly open and strides slightly closed, loose hands generate quick bat whip, level through the zone, gap to gap line drives during hitting evals.  Behind the plate, sets up with a square base just prior to pitch release, quick catch and throw, transfer on time with footwork, short over the top arm slot, strong throws, some with carry, somewhat accurate, 77 mph positional velocity, 1.95 to 2.09 pop times, projectable build with room to add strength.

Alex Dilly, C, Olathe West (KS), 2020
Dilley is a 6-foot-2 195-pound right-handed hitting catcher in Kansas’ 2020 class.  He ran a 7.61 60 and a 5.17 home to first.  He had an 84 mph exit velocity.  At the plate, balanced set up, smooth load to back side, accelerates hands through he zone, loose and quick bat speed, showed feel for the barrel, middle to pull side line drives, flashed pull side power, simple and repeatable swing mechanics.  Behind the plate, sits low with flexibility in hips, over the top arm slot, clean transfer, replaces feet, accurate thrower, 76 mph positional velocity, throws have carry to the bag, 1.99 to 2.12 pop times.

Cal Kilgore, C, Blue Valley Southwest (KS), 2021
Kilgore is an athletic and lean 6-foot 165-pound right-handed hitting catcher in Kansas’ 2021 class.  He ran a 7.08 60 and a 4.35 home to first.  He had an 89 mph exit velocity.  At the plate, balanced stance, some pre pitch rhythm in lower half, quiet hands, quick leg lift, in line stride, level path and quick bat speed, middle to pull side pop, gap to gap approach.  Behind the plate, square set up in base, quick catch and release, smooth actions, transfer on time with footwork, replaces feet, short over the top arm slot, 79 mph positional velocity, 1.98 to 2.10-second pop times, mostly accurate throws with carry.

Joseph Lopez, C, Bishop Miege (KS), 2021
Lopez is a 6-foot 170-pound left-handed hitting catcher in Kansas’ 2021 class.  He ran a 7.33 60 and a 4.84 home to first.  He has an 84 mph exit velocity. At the plate, tall and slightly open set up, minimal movement in hands with quiet load, lands slightly closed with stride, some lift to bat path, mostly middle of the field line drives during hitting evals.  Behind the plate, shoulder-length set up in base, square, quick transfer with fluid footwork, over the top arm slot, mostly accurate throws, 70 mph positional velocity, 2.10 to 2.30 pop times.

Chandler Powell, C, Civic Memorial (IL), 2020
Powell is a 5-foot-11 192-pound right-handed hitting catcher in Illinois’ 2020 class.  He ran a 7.58 60 and a 4.85 home to first.  He had an 86 mph exit velocity.  At the plate, balanced set up, smooth load, hands walk away from stride, starts slightly open, short the to ball, quick hands, level path, swing produced middle to pull side line drives.  Behind the plate, thin set up in base, slightly staggered, quick and clean transfer, short over the top release, accurate throws, most with carry to the bag, 75 mph positional velocity, pop times between 2.05 and 2.08.
