Prep Baseball Report - Missouri/Kansas held the Unsigned Prospect Showcase at Hoover Field in Wichita, Kansas on Saturday, November 4.  Nearly 60 players in the 2018 and 2019 classes participated from Missouri and Kansas.

Player profiles have been updated with profile picture, running time, throwing velocities and videos.  Today, we will break down the corner infielders from the event, and in the days to come we will break down the event position-by-position. Players are listed alphabetically below.

Corner Infielders

Cole Conner C / 3B / Mill Valley , KS / 2019

Conner is a physical 6-foot 190-pound right-handed hitting third baseman in Kansas’ 2019 class.  He ran a 7.66 60 and a 4.50 home to first.  He has an 83 mph exit velocity. At the plate, balanced stance, weight shits to back side to load, slight separation in hands and stride, fast bat speed, level through he zone, middle to pull side contact, loud contact to pull side. On the infield, 76 mph positional velocity, over the top release, gains ground to first base after the catch, fluid footwork to the ball, soft hands, fields ball in athletic position, soft hands, mostly accurate throws.

Thomas Emerich 3B / 2B / Ava , MO / 2019

Emerich is an athletically built 5-foot-10 150-pound right-handed hitting third baseman in Missouri’s 2019 class.  He ran a 7.68 60 and a 4.30 home to first.  He has an 81 mph exit velocity. At the plate, quiet pre-swing rhythm, open stance, short in line stride, efficient load, short to contact, level path, swing produced gap to gap line drives during hitting evaluations.  On the infield, 79 mph positional velocity, short three quarter arm slot, quick transfer, soft hands, fluid footwork on time with hands, accurate throws, projectable build. 

Zach Gillig OF / 3B / Valley Center, KS / 2018

Gillig is an athletically built with long levers 6-foot-2 180-pound right-handed hitting third baseman in Kansas’ 2018 class.  He ran a 7.72 60 and a 4.42 home to first.  He has an 87 mph exit  velocity. At the plate, balanced set up, smooth load into back side, short stride, hands separated from body, occasional power to pull side, slight lift on bat path, solid middle to pull side contact in batting practice. On the infield, 76 mph positonal velocity, high three quarters release, quick catch and throw, aggressive to the ball with fluid footwork, quick exchange, soft hands, mostly accurate throws.

Christian Grissell 1B / LHP / Platte County , MO / 2019

Grissell is a 6-foot 180-pound left-handed hitting first baseman in Missouri’s 2019 class.  He ran a 8.01 60 anda. 4.69 home to first.  He has a 79 mph exit velocity. At the plate, balanced stance, reverse toe tap to load, minimal hand movement, level bat path with mostly pull side contact during hitting evaluations.  On the infield, 68 mph positional velo at first base, short three quarters release, clean transfer with fluid footwork, mostly accurate throws.

Mason Lundgrin 1B / Salina South, KS / 2019

Lundgrin is a 6-foot 215—pound left-handed hitting first-baseman in Kansas’ 2019 class.  He ran a 7.37 60 and a 4.38 home to first.  He has an 89 mph exit velocity. At the plate, balanced stacne, no wasted movement in load, slightly closed, quiet and short stride, level path, body stays under control, middle to pull side line drives during hitting evaluations. On the infield, 69 mph positional velocity at first base, quick to the ball, short over the top release, mostly accurate throws, quick feet with reverse pivot throw to second base, quick transfer. 

Holden Missey 1B / RHP / Blue Valley NorthWest, KS / 2018

Missey is a physical 6-foot-3 215-pound right-handed hitting first-baseman in Kansas’ 2018 class.  He ran a 7.37 60 and a 4.39 home to first.  He has a 91 mph exit velocity.  At the plate, starts slightly open, hands separate from stride, aggressive swing, power to pull side, hits with leverage on back side, quick bat speed, level path. On the infield, 83 mph positional velocity at first base, stays under control, fluid actions, short high three quarters release, feet create momentum to throw, mostly accurate, smooth reverse pivot.

Brayden Paxton 1B / LHP / Derby, KS / 2018

Paxton is a physical 6-foot-4 210-pound left-handed hitting first-baseman in Kansas’ 2018 class.  He ran a 7.26 60 and a 4.28 home to first.  He has a 90 mph exit velocity. At the plate, starts loaded in back leg, short stride, quiet hands, middle of the field approach.  At first base, 81 mph positional velo, quick to the ball, over the top release, loose arm action, quick catch and throw, mostly accurate throws.

Devin Radke 1B / 3B / Logan Rogersville, MO / 2018

Radke is a strong 6-foot-5 220-pound right-handed hitting first-baseman in Missouri's 2018 class.  He ran a 8.01 60 and a 4.85 home to first.  He has an 87 mph exit velocity. At the plate, starts in a wide base, minimal stride, no wasted movement, quiet and repeatable, quick hands, level swing path, power to middle and pull side of the field. On the infield, 77 mph at first base, fluid actions, stays under control, feet creat momentum to throw, high three quarters release, quick transfer, feet and hands in sync, mostly accurate throws. 

Carson Randle 3B / 2B / Eisenhower , KS / 2018

Randle is a lean and loose 5-foot-10 155-pound right-handed hitting third-baseman in Kansas’ 2018 class.  He ran a 7.38 60 and a 4.36 home to first.  He has an 82 mph exit velocity. At the plate, balanced stance, short stride, some hand load, body stays under control during swing, loose hands, level path, gap to gap approach.  On the infield, 76 mph positional velo, high three quarters release, stays under control, feet creat momentum after the catch, fluid footwork to the ball, clean transfers, mostly accurate throws.

Andrew Rogers OF / 3B / Wamego, KS / 2019

Rogers is a 5-foot-11 175-pound left-handed hitting third baseman in Kansas’ 2019 class.  He ran a 7.32 60 and a 4.51 home to first. He has an 84 mph exit velocity. At the plate, open and thin stance, short in line stride, stays in back leg, natural lift, quick hands, loud contact to the pull side during hitting evaluations. On the infield, 76 mph positional velocity, over the top release, clean transfer, fluid actions to the ball, mostly accurate throws.

Mickey Simpson C / 3B / Grain Valley , MO / 2019

Simpson is an athletically built 5-foot-10 150-pound switch-hitting third baseman in Missouri’s 2019 class.  He ran a 7.80 60, 4.69 home to first from the right side and a 4.49 from the left side.  He has an 83 mph exit velocity from both sides. At the plate, similar swing mechanics from both sides, strides slightly closed on left side, in line stride on right side, quiet hands with smooth lower half load, level path, hands generate bat whip, stays on ball after contact, gap to gap approach. On the infield, 79 mph positional velocity, aggressive the the ball, short over the top release, athletic, quick catch and throw, hands and feet in sync, mostly accurate throws with carry.

Andrew Snyder C / 3B / CBC , MO / 2019

Snyder is an 6-foot 206-pound right-handed hitting third baseman in Missouri’s 2019 class.  He ran a 7.83 60 and a 4.58 home to first.  He has an 87 mph exit velocity. At the plate, starts with a tall and open stance, rhythm in hands, in line stride, aggressive swing with quick bat speed, swings with intent, middle to pull side power. On the infield, 80 mph positonal velocity, over the top release, feet create momentum to throw, fluid footwork, field ball out front, clean transfer, mostly accurate throws with carry.

Cole Summers C / 1B / Shawnee Mission West, KS / 2018

Summers is a strong 6-foot 205-pound right-handed hitting first baseman in Kansas’ 2018 class.  He ran a 7.20 60 and a 4.38 home to first.  He has a 93 mph exit velocity. At the plate, open stance, controlled and smooth load against back leg, accelerated swing, loud contact to pull side, middle to pull approach, quick bat speed, path works down to contact, aggressive.  On the infield, 76 mph positional velocity, short over the top release, fields ball in athletic position, smooth footwork to the ball, clean transfer on time with feet, mostly accurete throws.
